Prayer for John

Praying through John 1:1

Father in heaven, I worship and praise Your holy name for Your wonderful plan of salvation. Thank You for sending Jesus, the Word, Who was with the Father before the world began. He came to earth willingly, in human flesh, so that a sinner such as I may be redeemed by His precious blood. Praise Your name and praise Jesus, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Praying through John 1:2

Heavenly Father, the more I reflect on the truth of Your Word, the more amazed I become at Your love for me. Thank You that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us so that by faith in Him, we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. To Him be all praise and glory, AMEN.

You Lord, are worthy to receive all honour, and glory, and praise. Thank You for Jesus, eternal Creator of everything. He not only created me, but He bought me with a price, His own precious blood on the Cross of Calvary. Thank You that in Christ Jesus, I have become a new creation. What a wonderful Saviour! May I show forth His glory in the ages to come. In His name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 1:5

Thank You, Father, that the light of Jesus has shone into my heart, for I have trusted Him alone as my Saviour and Lord. May the light of Your love shine through me, until it is not I that shines in my life, but the light of Christ shining through me. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through John 1:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for the witness of Your Word, and thank You for sending Jesus into the world to be the Light of the world and Saviour of mankind. Help me to walk in the light as He is in the light and to let the light of His love shine through me to others so that my life would be a true testimony to Jesus. And just as John the Baptist prayed, as he bore witness to Jesus, I pray that I may decrease and Jesus may increase, until He is all in all in my life. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.”

Prayer For Alcoholic Anonymous

Father, thank You for all those that are involved in helping others with their addiction to alcohol. We thank You for places like Alcoholic Anonymous and the many Christian ministries and rehab centres that are dedicated to helping men and women recover from this debilitating and distressing addiction, and showing them the love of the Lord Jesus.

Give wisdom, grace and patience to all that are serving in one capacity or another to relieve the distress and devastation that alcoholism leaves in it wake. We pray that You would give them the right words of encouragement and advice to enable those that are addicted to permanently break free of their alcoholism and so live a more meaningful and fruitful life.

We pray that You would not only rescue alcoholic men and women from the depths of despair to which many have fallen, but also that You would raise them up into a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and bring them into newness of life in Him, to His praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name,

Amen.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”

Heavenly Father, what grace that You should love the world so much that while we were all dead in our trespasses and sins and at enmity with You - You sent Jesus to be our Saviour and die for our sin. Thank You that I have been born-again - born from above - born into the spiritual realm by FAITH. Thank You for Your goodness and grace, in Jesus name I pray. AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was made flesh and came to dwell among us as the unique and only begotten Son of God, Who alone qualifies to be our Redeemer. Thank You that He was born into the human race as a man - fully God yet fully man - so that by His death and Resurrection, He could become the singular substitute for the sin of the world. Thank You that by grace through faith in Him, I have been redeemed. What a wonderful Saviour, full of grace and truth. To Him be all praise and glory, AMEN.

Praying through John 1:23

Heavenly Father, thank You that by Your grace, I responded to the call to turn from my sin to Jesus and trusted in Him for the forgiveness of my sin. Thank You that despite being rejected by the nation of Israel, there are many Jews who responded to the warning voice of John the Baptist. By faith in Jesus, they have become part of the one New Man in Christ, where there is neither Jew nor Gentile. I look forward to that day when Christ will return for His Church, and I pray for the day when Israel as a nation will repent of their sin, turn back to God, and acknowledge Jesus as Lord and King. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through John 1:30

Heavenly Father, thank You for the witness and prophetic ministry of John the Baptist, the humble forerunner of Christ who died to his own self importance and was ready and willing to point people to Jesus. Help me to develop the characteristics of humility that are so evident in his ministry, and I pray that I may be ready and willing to say, "I must decrease, and He must increase." I praise and thank You that Jesus came into the world to save sinners and fulfilled all righteousness, so that by faith in Him I have been forgiven of my sin and received life everlasting. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through John 1:38

Dear Lord and Heavenly Father, thank You that whosoever will, may follow Jesus and find the answer to every question they have, in Him. Thank You that Jesus is the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world, and He is the Lamb on the throne Who has secured our redemption through His sacrificial work on the Cross. Thank You for the example of John the Baptist who pointed people to Jesus and for the two disciples that discovered he held the answer to every aching question they had. May I not only follow Jesus but point others to Him - in Whom are the words of eternal life. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through John 1:48

Heavenly Father, thank You for a peep into the lives of Philip and Nathanael who were men of faith in whom there was no guile, but who were ready and willing to respond to the call of Jesus in their lives and recognise that He is not only the Son of Man Who died on the Cross to pay the price for our sin, but God the Son Who rose from the dead so that by faith in Him we might not perish but have everlasting life. Help me never to diminish the deity of Christ. Help me never to forget that He became my Kinsman-Redeemer, and help me to grow more and more like Jesus in the days that lie ahead. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful example of Mary, the dear mother of Jesus. She understood Who Jesus was and pointed others away from herself, to Him. In the same way, help me to keep my eyes looking to Jesus, pointing others away from myself, to Him. May I lift Him up in all I say and do, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that although Jesus respected and obeyed the Law, He also fulfilled the Law when He came to be the propitiation for my sins and for the sins of all who trust in His name. I praise You for Your amazing plan of redemption and that despite Israel’s rejection of their Messiah, salvation has come to all who believe in Him. Thank You that Your plans for both the Church and for Israel will one day be completed, and I look for that any day return of Christ to take us to be with Himself. I pray for the day when the entire nation of Israel will call out to Christ for salvation. This I pray in the name of Jesus, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, it is a sobering thought to realise that every word I speak, every action I do and every thought that crosses the imagination of my mind is open and exposed before You. Thank You that my salvation is not based on my righteousness but is judged by the righteousness of Christ, Who died in my place so that I might become a new creation in Christ - by faith. Help me to take every thought captive to Christ so that my words and deeds, my thoughts and my motives may be pleasing to You and honouring to Your holy name, AMEN.

Praying through John 2:25

Heavenly Father, how amazing to realise that while I was still a sinner Christ died for me.. and that even when I was dead in trespasses and sins, at enmity with You and without hope in the world, You looked down on me in pity and mercy. Keep me low at the cross and broken before You. Help me to carry out Your will - not in my own fleshly strength but through Your sufficient grace. Prevent me from presumptuous thoughts and may I always and only do those things that are pleasing to You - not simply because You know every thought of my mind but out of a growing love and respect for the Person and Work of my Saviour, Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 3:5

Heavenly Father, thank You for my life and for all that it means to be born into the human race. But more than that, I thank You, Father, that Your Holy Spirit convicted me of my sin, of Christ's righteousness, and of the terrible condemnation that will befall all who have not believed in the Son of God for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Thank You that I have been born of the Spirit and washed clean by Christ's precious blood. Thank You for sending Jesus to be the propitiation for my sin. Look down in pity on all whose hearts are crying out for the truth - just as Nicodemus did when he came to Jesus by night and discovered that it is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, that we can enter the kingdom of heaven and live with You in the eternal ages to come. Thank You for my physical birth into this world and for the opportunity to be born again and become a child of God, through faith in Christ. Thank You that I have been declared righteousness by faith in Christ and have Your assurance that I will not only see heaven but will one day enter through the gates of pearl into Your heavenly presence. Heavenly Father, I increasingly recognise the evil and wickedness in which this world is drowning. Lord, I pray that people would not believe the lie that they have committed a sin too great to be forgiven. I pray they would come to the Light of the World, Jesus Christ, and be saved by trusting in Him, because in Him alone are the words of eternal life and the forgiveness of sins. Praying through John 3:29

Heavenly Father, what a thrill to realise that because I believe in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, and His sacrificial work on the Cross, I have been given the right to become Your child and have been made a member of His mystic Body and am part of His spiritual Bride. As I reflect on the joy that servants, like John the Baptist, expressed in recognising Jesus as the beloved Son of God, Who takes away the sin of the world, it fills me with wonder and awe at Your faithfulness to both Israel and Your great love of the Church. Just as John rejoiced to point people to the Bridegroom, so I rejoice that the day is coming when all Israel will be saved, when they repent of their sin nationally, and call out to the Lord Jesus for their own salvation. Great is Your faithfulness. Praise Your holy name, AMEN.

Praying through John 3:30

Heavenly Father, thank You for the life and ministry of John the Baptist, who spent his life pointing people to the truth of the gospel of Christ, the Word made flesh and Light of the world. Thank You for the testimony of John the Baptist and his example of humility and grace, because despite being great in the eyes of men and a special minister of God, he was able to proclaim with all his heart that Christ must increase while he must decrease. Lord, please help me to follow John the Baptist’s example and every day be ready to testify that Jesus is the Saviour of the world and that He must increase in importance and influence, while I must decrease. Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus Who humbled Himself by becoming a homeless, travel-worn, exhausted, despised man, even to the point of death on a Cross, in order to save me. Use me as a channel through whom Your living water may be poured out to all with whom I come in contact, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

May I drink deeply from the fountain of Your supply and resist the temptation to do things in my own strength. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Thank You that Jesus is the Rock of my salvation, Who was smitten for me on the Cross, and that by His death and resurrection, I have a new spiritual life that has found its satisfaction in You alone. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is the Word of God made flesh. Thank You for the written Word of God which is living and powerful and contains the gracious words of eternal life. Thank You that by faith in the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, I have received the forgiveness of sins, life everlasting, and the indwelling Holy Spirit of God to guide me into all truth. There are no words that are sufficient to praise and thank You for the sacrifice that Christ made for me at Calvary so that by faith in HIM, I have been made a child of God. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Father God, thank You that my sins have been forgiven and there is no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus. I confess that there are times when I have been critical of others, forgetting that my own sins were scarlet, but by Your grace have been washed white as snow. Lord, I want to live a life that is pleasing to You. I pray that Your new-life within may display the grace and love of the Lord Jesus towards others, in the same way that You show Your grace and love towards me. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 8:21

Heavenly Father, this is a solemn teaching, and it grieves my soul that there are many, like the proud Pharisees, who reject Your offer of salvation. It grieves me to know that there are still foolish people, who like the leaders of the Jews, refuse to open their eyes and ears to the truth of the gospel of Christ. Soften the hearts of men, women, Jew, and Gentile alike, so that they may recognise Christ as Saviour, and place their trust in His sacrificial work at Calvary. Use me I pray, to spread the good news to unsaved people, so that they may hear, and believe and not die in their sins, but be saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, our God, and our Saviour, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.”

Praying through John 8:23

Heavenly Father, it is wonderful to know that I have been born again into a new creation and can never die in my sins, because Christ took the punishment for me on the Cross, for which I am eternally grateful. But there are many who have not trusted in Christ for the forgiveness of their sin who will die in their sins if they do not hear and believe the good news of the gospel of grace. I pray that Your Holy Spirit would convict and convert many people of their need of Christ for the salvation of their soul, and use me to be a light to point the lost to Him. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, what amazing grace that You should choose to redeem the fallen race of Adam and bring those that believe in His name out of the slave-market of sin by faith in Christ. Thank You that I have been released from the vice-like hold that sin has on my life. Thank You in Jesus' name the penalty of sin has been paid in full and the power of sin has been broken in my life. Prayer For Alcoholic Addiction Recovery

Heavenly Father, I confess that I have not only hurt other people, and especially those that are close to me, but I have offended You and ignored some of the warnings that I believe were directly or indirectly sent from You. Help me I pray to break free of this ungodly addiction and get on the road to recovery.

Forgive me Lord, for I have sinned against You and ignored the clear teaching of Your Word to live soberly, righteously and in the fear of the Lord and to walk circumspectly before You, as a child of the light. But I come to You in humble submission to ask You to help me to get on the road to addiction recovery, for I know that You have promised to lift-up all who come to You out of the miry pit, even when we have foolishly dug it for ourselves.

Help me be set free from alcohol, putting on the breastplate of righteousness, and for the helmet of salvation in Christ, in Whose name I pray,

Amen.

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is one with You in nature, character, will, authority, and power... for only He is good enough to pay the price for my sin. Thank You that He is the incarnate God Who became the Son of Man, so that He could die on the Cross for the sin of the world. More and more I see how truly offensive the exclusivity of the Gospel is to those who do not believe. Thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to convict me of my sin, of righteousness, and of judgement. For A Dying Christian Friend In A Hospice

Loving Lord, I just want to lift up my dear friend to You, who has been such a comfort and strength to me for so many years, but who has at last been admitted to a hospice where she is to pass her final few weeks of life in dignity and respect, as her life drains from her. Lord, I know that I am going to miss her so much.

Be with her Lord, every moment of the day and night. Thank You Father, that she is to be looked after in such a caring and understanding environment. Be with the staff who are to attend her as her life flows from her and Lord, I pray that she would be very aware of Your very presence with her, every moment of the day.

Lord, I know that she is ready and longing to meet You face to face, and I ask that You would keep her free from the pain and suffering that so often stalks the advancement of death. But praise God that the grave has lost its terrible sting and death has lost its victory, through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise Your holy name!

Lord, I know that I am going to miss my dear friend, but my sadness has such a wonderful tinge of hope and joy, for I know that soon we will all be together in Your company, where we will be free from all sickness and sadness, and You will wipe away every tear from our eyes. Thank You Lord, in Jesus' name,

Amen.

Praying through John 12:48

Heavenly Father, it is truly sombre to realise how man’s pride can be translated into unbelief and the shocking consequences of rejecting Jesus as the Word of God manifest in the flesh. Forgive me for the times when I have not been willing to listen to Your voice. I pray that I may become increasingly attentive to Your Word. Help me to keep looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of my faith, and keep my ears open and attentive to His voice. In His name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 13:1

Heavenly Father, what a wonderful Saviour is Jesus. I stand amazed at His heart of love for me and for all who have trusted Him as Saviour. He did not need to leave His home in glory and die for my sin.. but He did it for love of me and for all who trust Him as Saviour. May we live to His praise and glory in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 13:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for this precious picture in the upper room, when in humble submission to the Father’s will, the Lord Jesus laid aside His garment and began to wash the feet of His bewildered disciples. Lord, there are many times in my life that I do not understand the reason that You allow certain things to happen, but help me to simply trust You in all things and enable me to pray, "Thy will not mine be done." Open my understanding to all that You are seeking to teach me, and may I grow in grace as I submit to Your will for my life. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

May my life be one that is lived out in love and truth, and in humility and grace, so that Christ may be seen in me as I die to self and live to Him. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 13:36

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus. Thank You that He was prepared to be the sacrifice for my sin and for the sin of the whole world. Thank You that He endured the Cross and all the suffering and pain that was inflicted on Him, the sinless Son of God, the perfect Son of Man, the spotless Lamb of God. I pray that I may know Him more and more and that I would be ready and willing to fellowship in His suffering here on earth, during my sojourn in a world that despises His name and rejects Your offer of salvation. I pray that many whose ears have been blocked and eyes blinded to the truth, would be convicted of their sin and place their trust in Him, before it is too late. Use me in whatever capacity You choose, and may I live, work, and if necessary die, for His dear name’s sake. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 13:37

Heavenly Father, thank You for the life, the ministry, and the example of Peter, the apostle who holds such a special place in the hearts of all who have trusted Christ for salvation. Like Peter, sometimes my faith falters and I let you down by relying on my own abilities, instead of trusting in Your sufficient strength. But You are always faithful to forgive my foolishness and return me into fellowship with Yourself, when I confess my faults. I pray that my zeal and love for the Lord Jesus would continue to develop and grow, so that like Peter, I would be bold in my faith and in the power of Your Holy Spirit, I would have the sufficient strength to overcome every difficulty in life. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for this lesson I can learn from Peter which highlights man's inability to do the good and eschew the evil, except in the strength of our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Thank You that there is no sin too great that You will not forgive, for those that humbly acknowledge their need of salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Keep me from falling into the trap of pumping up my own self-confidence instead of trusting in Your sufficient strength, when faced with temptation and trial. This I ask in Jesus' precious name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. I pray that I may have ears that are spiritually attuned to hear His voice, eyes that are willing to see spiritual truths, a heart that is submitted to His guidance and correction, and a teachable spirit so that in His grace I may be guided into all truth. A Mother’s Thankful Heart For Her Baby

Heavenly Father, what joy fills my heart for the precious little baby you have seen fit to bring into our family unit. I lift up my voice of praise to You, with a grateful heart for this little life that has been entrusted to me.

Teach me to be a good and faithful mother and to take the responsibilities of motherhood seriously. Teach me also how to bring up my child to know You Lord Jesus, so that my precious little baby will grow up to accept You as their Saviour. And Lord, You Who loved to welcome the little children into your arms, open Your arms of love I pray for us, and keep us all safe from harms way, under the protection of Your wings of love.

As this little bundle of joy starts to grow and develop, give me wisdom to teach and train, to correct and to encourage. May I be both fair and wise, and combine a balance between correction and encouragement. Guide our little family unit in the ways of peace I pray, and thank You my heavenly Father for the wonderful blessing that has come from You. In Jesus' name,

Amen.
