Prayer Of Gratitude For the Church Family

Lord Jesus I am so grateful to You for the church family You have given me and for the love and encouragement that I receive from each member.

I bless and thank You that we are all members of Your body and that we are all there to support each other in times of sorrow and joy as well as those seasons of sickness and health. How wonderful it is to know that we are all one in Christ and have that unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace and love.

We lift up the wider church family and pray that You would meet each one in their own particular time of need. We especially bring before You our brothers and sisters in Christ that have been rejected by their own family members due to their faith in the Lord Jesus and how grateful we are that the arms of love within the body of Christ stretch out to the four corners of the world.

Keep us all we pray in a bond of unity and may Christ be lifted up in the heart of each one – this we ask in Jesus name,

Amen

“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;”

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am positioned in Christ and a member of His body, through time and into eternity. May I truly see that suffering in this world is a consequence of my union with Christ.. and that in all things Your grace is sufficient. Help me to see that in the same way that as my suffering for Christ abounds so also I have been given an over-abounding consolation and comfort from You. May my life be a witness to Your goodness and grace in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Prayer For Thos in Hospital

Heavenly Father we bring to You the many people that have found themselves in hospital and pray that in a wonderful way You would minister to them through the doctors and nurses and all those that are there to help them in their recovery.

Lord we pray that You would use this time in hospital to reach deep into the hearts of each these people and help them to realise how fragile their lives are - and to cause them to consciously search for You with their hearts.

Lord we pray that as healing and health comes to their bodies that spiritual healing and wholeness would come to their souls – and that the time they have spent in hospital would become a spiritual wake-up call – so that they re-evaluate their lives and realise their need of Jesus as their Saviour - and accept Christ as their Redeemer and King – in Whose name we pray,

Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your word. Help me to learn all the lessons that I can, from the corrective instructions, that Paul gave to the various churches. Keep me from developing a ‘holier-than-thou’ attitude and help me to recognise my faults.. and take steps to correct my actions and attitudes, when I am straying away from Your instruction. Keep me low at the cross and broken before You, and use me to help my brothers and sisters, if they should go astray – and use them to correct my faults, should I stray from the path of righteousness – this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom, grace and sensitivity that Paul demonstrated in his corrective ministry to the Corinthian believers. Help me to be willing to address any issue that is causing a brother in Christ to stray from the path of righteousness, but keep my heart sensitive and soft, so that I may speak the truth in love. Help me also to be willing to receive, and act on a word of correction, from a fellow brother or sister in Christ, without automatically misunderstanding their motive – this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN

Grief Due To Loss Of A Loved One

Loving Father, I am finding it so hard to even get up out of bed to start the day, knowing that I have to face it alone and without the one I love so dearly – I know that without Your grace and sufficiency I could never get through the day – but I thank You that You have promised to be with me and to provide me with Your strength for the day as well as bright hope for tomorrow.

I can’t imagine tomorrow being anything but a day filled with pain – as I do not have my loved one beside me, but I ask that in Your grace You will give me the strength to get through today, step by step - knowing that You are there to carry me, even when my heart seems to fail from the grief and pain that I am going through.

Thank You that You have promised to carry our pain and thank You that Your grace is sufficient for every eventuality in our lives. Give me the strength and to cope with the loneliness I feel and help me to move forward in my life-plans, knowing that You are with me, to support and strengthen.

Give me hope for tomorrow – for my hope and my trust is in You, Lord. Hold me close I pray and thank You for always being with me and the great comfort that I have in knowing You, as my own dear Saviour and friend.
“But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.”

Prayer Of Comfort for the Grieving

Lord Jesus I know that You are close to those that are broken-hearted and grieving in their soul and that You rescue those that are crushed in spirit. Draw near to Your many children who are facing times of sadness and loss and draw each one ever closer into Your precious arms of love and support.

Thank You that You are wonderfully good to all who wait for You and seek You, and I pray that those of my brothers and sisters in Christ who, – for whatever reason – are facing times of grief and hardship in their lives - that in Your grace and mercy You would draw very close to each one and gently carry them on Your shoulders, as a Shepherd carries a little lamb that has been torn by the briars.

Be close to all that are grieving today I pray, and flood their souls with hope – knowing that underneath are Your everlasting arms.

Give me a heart that is sensitive to those that are grieving, the wisdom to know when to speak words of comfort or when to keep silent. And Lord I also pray that You would use my life to be a channel of encouragement and hope, through whom the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ will flow into their hearts – to heal and help.

Thank You Lord that You are a God that answers prayers. Amen
“So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.”

Teach me to Abide in You

Oh, thank You Lord Jesus, my heavenly Vine, for the fullness of Your blessing towards me. I want to know and understand more and more of what it means to simply rest in You – to abide in You in sweet union with my Saviour and remain in blessed communion with You in ever closer intimacy.

Teach me Lord and train me to rest in Your love – guard me and guide under the shelter of Your canopy, and reveal more and more of Yourself to me I pray,

The Death Of A Believer

Loving Lord I am filled with grief and sadness at the loss of my precious loved one – and yet that pain is tinged with gold, knowing that they trusted you as their Saviour and that they are now in Your presence.

I know that I am going to miss this precious one, who has been my strength and my joy for so long, and thank You for the precious times we had together.

Often Lord I expect my dear one to just be there, or walk through the door - and then remember that they have gone home to be with You. At times this is quite hard and yet I know that I must not grieve as those that have not hope in Jesus – but rejoice knowing that the day is coming when we will be together with You and You will wipe away all tears from our eyes - but at the moment my loss is like an open wound – and I pray that You will heal my brokenness and the loneliness I feel… and draw me every closer into Your arms of love my Lord and my God.

Thank You for all You are to me and may I rest in You in Jesus name,

Amen

To Be Freed From My Burdensome Addiction

Dear Lord Jesus, my addiction is a terrible burden and a such a shame to me and yet I find myself constantly returning to behaviours that I hate and long to be able to shed. I am so ashamed Lord and yet I know that You were the One Who said that You came to set the captives free – and Lord I am a captive. I am a captive and slave of this terrible addiction and yet to long to be freed and to live a normal life.

Free me Lord I pray from this compulsion for it is stifling my life and has cost me many dear friends as well as my job – but I long to be free to live as I ought.

I have heard the gospel and I do believe that Jesus died to take the full punishment for all my sins, including my addiction and I believe that He rose the third day, which broke the power of death in the lives of all who believe – so I am coming to you to ask You Lord to give me the abundant life that You have promised. I know that eternal life is now my portion but I pray that I may be free of my addiction in this life so that I may serve You as You deserve, I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Amen

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your written Word and the glories it contains. Help me not to become too familiar with its truth that I become complacent. Help me to read Your word with child-like expectation and a deep-seated sense of awe. May I increasingly see the beauty of Jesus radiating from its pages and I pray that as I gaze on His loveliness, I too will start to be transformed from glory to glory - this I pray in Jesus name, AMEN.

Times of Healing and Spiritual Renewal

Loving Father, I know that You often halt us in our tracks and remove us from the business of life, through an illness or a time of ill-health - so that we are forced take our eyes off the hurly-burly of life, and lie on an enforced bed of sickness - in order to rediscover what are our true priorities are in life.

Father, I know that I have not spent quality time with You, as I have allowed the daily duties of life and less-important issues to crowd out my special time alone in Your presence.

Forgive me I pray. I want to use this time of ill-health as an opportunity to get closer to You. Lead me and guide me in this time of illness - and may it become a time of spiritual as well as a period of physical rest.

Heal me Father I pray, not only in my body but also in my relationship with You,

Thank you,

Prayer for Personal Accountability

Lord Jesus it says in Your Word, examine Yourself to see it you are in the faith – Lord I realise that this is not talking to unbelievers but to all of us who are Your children, in Christ Jesus. Lord help me to examine myself, and all that I am, and all that I am learning from You and Your word, so that I truly may say with conviction :-I know in Whom I have believed and am walking in the path on which He has placed me.

Keep me also from critical thoughts of others, and prevent me Lord, from having a spirit of control – or by pretending to hold others accountable to You when the beam in my own eye is greater than the speck that is in my brothers’ eyes.

Guide Me Through All Of Life’s Obstacles

Help me Lord Jesus to keep my whole focus on You. Life is becoming so hard and difficult that at times it is not easy to keep the eyes of my heart looking to Jesus as I know I should – for without Him I can do nothing…At times Lord I feel that I am losing my way in life but I know that as I rest in You, I will hear the gentle promptings from Your Spirit saying, “this is the way – walk in it…”

Sometimes Lord, I confess that when things get tough I try in my own strength to sort out my own problems - and work out what I ought to do myself, without turning to You first… and inevitably I seem to make the wrong choice…I know that You have a plan for my life – and I also know that living in this world is not easy – but I also know that my sufficiency is in You and that Your strength is made perfect as I rest in You – help me to apply this truth in my life.

Guide me Lord through all the obstacles of life and help me with the many choices I have to make on a daily basis. May I truly learn to look to You as my Guide and Strength, in Jesus name I pray,

AMEN

Prayer For Purity Of Heart and Humility

Heavenly Father - the Lord Jesus Himself said that those that are pure in heart are truly blessed, but Lord I know that of myself I can never attain the standard of purity that You require. Lord, I know that only as I allow the Holy Spirit to live in me, work through me – to teach and train me will I come to that purity of heart that only comes from You – as You conform Your children into the image and likeness of the Lord Jesus.

Lord for too long I have been smugly comparing myself advantageously with others around me, and believing that I was pure in Your eyes - but now that I have come to realise that the only standard to which You are comparing me is the Lord Jesus, I humbly kneel before You, at the foot of Your throne and ask your forgiveness for my self-indulgent pride and ego-centricity. May I look to Jesus and live as He lived in spirit and truth – seeking only to do Your will and to live a life that honour You.

Search my heart and purify my thoughts and may Your indwelling Holy Spirit identify any pride and self-importance that is lurking within, and conform me day by day into the likeness of the Lord Jesus – and help me to make the right choices in my life.. the choices that honour You, in Jesus name I pray,

Amenm You – as You conform Your children into the image and likeness of the Lord Jesus.

Prayer Of Repentance Following An Abortion

Heavenly Father, You know all that I have done in my life, and how I have skirted around the issue of my abortion, dismissed the significance of this sin in my life and tried to pretend that it was no big deal.

But Lord, I now confess to You this terrible sin and realise increasingly that it is detestable in Your sight to abort a new little life. I confess my wrongdoing and grieve to think of the unborn baby that I chose to terminate in my womb.

I confess my sin and repent of my casual attitude and ask for Your healing touch on my life. Help me to release this painful memory to You and to accept that Your promise of forgiveness to all who repent of their sins and turn to Christ.

Thank You that You paid the price for all my sins at Calvary and that You have promised to remove them as far as the east is from the west… Thank You in Jesus name,

Amen
