Praying through Philemon 1:4

Loving Heavenly Father, thank You for all my brothers and sisters in Christ who have come to faith in You. May each one grow in grace and become more and more like Jesus Christ. Thank You for their lives and for the love and faith they have in You. Open doors of opportunity so that they may share the good news of salvation with those that are lost. And I pray You will welcome them at last into Your everlasting kingdom with the words: "Well done good and faithful servant." In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,”

Praying through Philemon 1:6

Heavenly Father, thank You for my brothers and sisters in Christ, knowing that we are all one in Him. I pray that the fellowship of our faith may become effective, through knowing every good thing that is in us, for the glory of Christ Jesus our Lord, AMEN.

“That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”

Praying through Philemon 1:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for my brothers and sisters in Christ. I pray that together we may grow in grace and mature in the faith as we 'gossip the gospel' together and rejoice that our names are written in heaven. Thank You that we are one in Christ and members of His Body. Thank You for the lessons we can learn from the little book of Philemon and the pointers it contains in spiritual growth, Christian love, and forgiveness. I pray that my words and actions would be pleasing in Your sight and that I may be one that refreshes the hearts of the saints, for Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.”

Praying through Philemon 1:9

Heavenly Father, thank You for my brothers and sisters in Christ and for mutual joy and encouragement we are able to give to one another. I pray that I may foster a Christlike spirit in my dealings with others, especially those that are of the household of faith. When I have been wronged, give me the grace and wisdom to do what is right and when I have wronged others, give me the courage to face up to my fault and failings. Give me the wisdom and confidence to always stand for that which is right and whether in a position of authority or when serving others, I pray that I may honour Your name by my words and actions. Thank You for the short book of Philemon, and may I learn the many lessons it has to teach me. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.”
(Philemon 1:9)

Praying through Philemon 1:11

Heavenly Father, as I read through the little letter from Paul to Philemon, how good it is to see the many lessons I can learn from this unfortunate incident, where a runaway slave returned to his master as a born again brother in Christ. Thank You that the things in a life that were once useless to You can be used for Your praise and glory, when that life is given over to Jesus. Help me to act responsibly in the work you have given me to do, and I pray that I may show godly grace and Christ-like love to my brothers and sisters in Christ, knowing you work all things together for good. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:”

Praying through Philemon 1:21

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful illustration of practical, Christian love for one another, that is written in the book of Philemon. I pray that I may incorporate the same practical love and living faith towards God and my fellow Christians, that was found in Philemon. May my life become a living example of gracious love that reflects the deep love of Christ for me. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.”
