Praying through Galatians 1:1

Loving Father, thank You that in Your grace, You sent Jesus to be the propitiation for my sins and that by believing on Him, I have been brought into Your heavenly family and clothed in His righteousness. Praise His holy name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 1:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for the life and ministry of Paul and for the many epistles he penned, which so clearly lay out the gospel of salvation. Thank You for my great salvation, the freedom I have in Christ Jesus, and the warning against legalism in the epistle to the Galatians. Give discernment to your people today, to recognise legalistic teachings and expose those teachers who would try to bring Your people back under bondage. I pray that those that have been enticed into this destructive way of thinking would find their liberty in Christ. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:”

Praying through Galatians 1:4

Heavenly Father, thank You that in Your grace and wisdom, Christ gave Himself for my sins and for the sins of the whole world so that by grace through faith in Him, all who believe might be rescued from this present evil age. Thank You that You chose, in eternity past, to plan for the salvation of mankind, who by rights should remain guilty as charged. Praise Your holy name, AMEN.

“Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:”

Praying through Galatians 1:6

Heavenly Father, thank You that my salvation does not depend on what I do, but on what Christ did for me on the Cross. Help me not to add additional legalistic requirements to my Christian life, knowing that it is not works of the flesh that can keep me saved, but that I am saved forever by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. To Him be all praise and glory, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 1:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for the glorious gospel of Christ. Thank You for Your grace which has brought me into Your heavenly family, by faith in Jesus' finished work at Calvary. Keep me from falling into the error of trying to perfect myself, by means of my own fleshly works and legalistic acts. I know that it is only by means of the Holy Spirit Who works in my 'new-life-in-Christ' by grace, that I can live a life that honours You. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.”

Praying through Galatians 1:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for the God-breathed Scriptures and the truth that they contain within their pages. Thank You that I am no longer under the Law, but I am saved by grace through faith in Christ. Help me never to be enticed from this truth by another gospel. Give me discernment to recognise when the gospel of Christ is being compromised in any way. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 1:9

Heavenly Father, thank You that Christ died to pay the price for my sins and that He rose again so that the power of sin might be broken in my life. I pray that I may not slip into legalistic practices by trying to win Your favour or mature as a Christian by means of carrying out legalistic rules or performing works of the flesh. I pray that I simply stand on the truth of the glorious gospel of grace, which has set me free from all forms of legalism, by grace through faith in Christ’s finished work. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”

Praying through Galatians 1:10

Heavenly Father, as I continue to read through the book of Galatians and realise the terrible consequences of going back under legalistic rules and regulations which seem to be practiced by so many in Christendom today, I thank You that I have been set free from the law of sin and death and pray that I may walk in newness of life to Your praise and glory, as I apply all that You would teach me through Your Word. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 1:11

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many epistles of Paul. May I take to heart all that is written in the Word of God and seek to apply all that is taught to Church-age believers, by Paul and Your other holy apostles. Keep me from being hood-winked by false teachings, self-appointed apostles, and extra-biblical doctrines... and may I live and work to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 1:15

Heavenly Father, thank You for calling Paul to be set apart to minister to the Gentiles who were dead in trespasses and sins and without hope in the world, but he told them that by grace through faith in Christ, they may become part of the one new man. Thank You for calling me by Your grace. I dedicate myself to Your service and pray that You would use my life any way You choose, as a testimony to the truth of the gospel of Christ. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 1:17

Heavenly Father, thank You for the ministry of Paul and the wonderful example of a man who heard God's call on his life and was ready and willing to respond and obey. I pray that I may be like this apostle and be ready and willing to listen to Your voice, obey Your call, and fulfil Your will for my life, for Your greater praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 1:18

Heavenly Father, thank You for the ministries of both Peter and Paul and the careful way You have used their teachings to guide us into all truth. Thank You that we are not encumbered with the Jewish legal system with its numerous rituals and regulation. Thank You that by Your grace, Jew and Gentile have been united together in the mystical Body of Christ and are one in Him. May we share the gospel of grace with lost sinners for Your greater praise and glory. Thank You that the day is coming when the gospel of the kingdom will once again be preached throughout the world and Jesus will return to set up His kingdom on earth. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 1:24

Dear Heavenly Father, I realise that adding anything to the simple message of salvation by grace through faith, is an affront to You and a devaluing of Christ's finished work on the Cross. Give me the wisdom to discern when legalists are teaching another gospel. Expose any false teaching and prevent me from being influenced away from the truth of the glorious gospel of grace. Thank You for the sacrifice Jesus made on my behalf. To Him be all praise and glory, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 2:3

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of Life and the truths that it contains. Lord, there is so much more that I need to understand about Your unique programme with Israel and Your agenda for the Church. Give me discernment to know which Scriptures are directed toward Israel and which ones are directed toward the Church. Help me to not become confused or bound up in legalism by trying to fulfil directives that were not given to believers in the Dispensation of Grace. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 2:4

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many warnings, throughout Your Word, of the profusion of insidious teachings and unbiblical doctrines that are flooding the Church today. Praying through Galatians 2:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for the ministries of Peter and Paul. They both had specific, distinct, yet complimentary callings from You, and they were both faithful to help and encourage those You had called them to minister to. I thank You for those that have helped and encouraged me in my own Christian walk, and likewise, I pray that I may carry out the work You have prepared for me to do. May everything I do be to Your glory and to bring more to a saving knowledge of Christ. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 2:9

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful way the joint ministries of Peter and Paul, were united in teaching the truth of the gospel of Christ. Thank You for the corrective teachings in Galatians about perverting the gospel of grace by returning to legalistic practices which can so often be permitted in our places of worship. Keep me alert to any deceptive practices and thank You that I am both saved by Your grace and kept by Your grace. Keep me pure in thought, word, deed, and doctrine. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.”

Praying through Galatians 2:11

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word which gives clear teachings on the means of salvation, which is by grace through faith in Christ. Lord, I see how easy it is to allow fear of men to cause any one of us to compromise our faith. Help me to stand fast on the Word of truth and not to fear what man can say or do to me, especially other believers who have become legalistic in their beliefs, or who water down the gospel to be politically correct. Help me to not only speak the truth in love, but also to be prepared to challenge those, in love, whose Christian conduct does not line up with Scripture. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 2:12

Heavenly Father, I come before You today in awe and reverence of Your mighty power and grace. Thank You for the gift of Your Word and the truth it contains. I pray for Your guidance and protection as I seek to stand firm in my faith and trust in You. Help me to discern false teachings and challenge corrupt teachings with courage and conviction. Give me the strength to stand up for what I believe in, even if it means going against the grain. Help me to remain true to my convictions and never be swayed by the opinions of others, however influential they may appear. I ask that You would fill me with Your Spirit and give me the wisdom to seek out the truth in Your Word. May I be ready to give an answer for the hope I have in the glorious gospel of grace. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 2:14

Heavenly Father, keep me mindful of the truth of Your Word, and prevent me from being influenced away from the truth of the gospel into any erroneous teachings. Guide me into all truth and help me to become increasingly familiar with the glorious gospel of grace, that Christ died and rose again according to the Scripture, as the sacrificial offering for sin. Help me to be vigilant in testing the teachings of others. Help me to search the Scriptures daily to see if I am holding fast to the truth of Your Word and not compromising Scripture, or deviating into legalism or some other deviant doctrine. Give me a teachable spirit and lead me in the path of righteousness, for His name's sake. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?”

Praying through Galatians 2:16

Heavenly Father, thank You for this glorious truth that I am not justified by the works of the Law and that there is nothing that I can say or do to merit my own salvation. I am justified only by faith in the finished work of Christ Jesus on Calvary's Cross. Thank You that Christ gave His life as a ransom for me and became a curse on my account so that I might become the righteousness of God in Him. Praise His holy name, AMEN.

“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

Praying through Galatians 2:18

Heavenly Father, thank You for the liberty I have in Christ and for the truth that I have in Your Word. Thank You that it is not by works of the law that we are justified, but simply by grace through faith in the person and work of Christ. Keep me from developing any religious bias or from being influenced by legalism. I pray that I may be filled with a knowledge of Your will and purpose for my life so that I may walk in a manner worthy of You and honour You in every way. This I ask in Jesus' name and for His greater glory, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am identified with Christ, by grace through faith in His death, burial, and Resurrection. Praying through Galatians 3:1

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus took the full punishment for my sins on the Cross. Keep me from trying to add to Christ's finished work on the Cross, but may I live my life in a manner that is pleasing to You, as I die to self and live for Christ. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 3:21

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your perfect plan of redemption does not contain any contradictions, but works together for the good of mankind. Thank You that my sin was exposed through the Law, and though the Law couldn’t save me in and of itself, it pointed me to my need for a Saviour. You then provided a perfect Saviour in the Lord Jesus Christ Who paid the penalty for my sin through His death, burial, and Resurrection. Thank You that my salvation is by grace through faith in Him. Praying through Galatians 4:1

Heavenly Father, how easy it is for me to try to justify myself in Your sight through works of the Law, rather than accepting my salvation as a free gift of Your amazing grace. I know that there are no works of the Law that can justify me in Your sight, and when I try to work to justify myself, I simply expose my lack of understanding of Your perfect plan of redemption. Help me to remember that faith alone in Him alone is all I need. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Thank You, Father, for sending Jesus into the world at the right time. Thank You that Jesus became a man and fulfilled all the righteous requirements of the Law on my behalf so that I might be forgiven of my sins and adopted into Your family, for time and through eternity. AMEN.

“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,”

Praying through Galatians 4:5

Heavenly Father, I never cease to be amazed at the grace that You have extended to me and to all who have been redeemed by faith in Jesus Christ. It is a thing most wonderful, almost too wonderful to believe, that God's own Son should come from heavenly glory and die to save a sinner like me. And yet it is true and I thank You with all of my being. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.”

Praying through Galatians 4:6

Abba, my loving Father, I realise I am standing on the holiest of ground. Thank You for doing such great things for me. I desire to develop the depth of fellowship with You that is demonstrated through the life of Jesus. May I submit in humble obedience to You so that my inner spirit may commune in godly intimacy with Your Holy Spirit. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 4:7

Heavenly Father, thank You that by faith in Christ, I have been born into Your family and am no longer a slave to sin, but a born-again son of God. Thank you for the many privileges and promises I have received through identification with Christ my Saviour. Thank You that I am no longer a slave, but a son and heir, through Christ. I pray that I may live as a dutiful child, doing only those things that are honouring to You. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

Praying through Galatians 4:11

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am not only justified by faith through the power of the Spirit, but I am to live by faith through the power of the Spirit, to walk by faith through the power of the Spirit, to grow in grace by faith through the power of the Spirit, and to become spiritually mature in the faith and sanctified through the power of the Spirit. Thank You that neither my justification nor my sanctification depends on what I do or do not do, but on what Christ did on the Cross and what Christ is doing in my life today so that it is not I that live but Christ that lives in me. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.”

Prayer In A Time of Illness

Dear Father God, thank You for the many blessings that we receive from You daily and especially for the wonderful gift of salvation, which we all have been given simply by trusting in Jesus as Saviour. Thank You, that He died to take the punishment I deserve for my sins, and that He rose again to break the power of sin and death in my life. How I praise You and worship You for all Your many blessing.

Lord, I thank You for my life. I know that we are wonderfully created and every part of our body is a miracle, but I come to You today as I am not at all well in my body and my health seems to be failing. I have always been fairly healthy Lord, for which I praise You, but have come down recently with a number of unrelated ailments and Lord, I feel so poorly and ask for Your healing touch on my life.

Be with me Lord, and with all that are facing similar problems in their lives. Lord, it seems that so many people that I know have contracted some sort of health problem, and I just ask You to visit each of us at this time of illness, stretch Your healing hand on each of our lives and restore us to good health.

Thank You, that You are a God Who hears and answers prayers. In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen.

“Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.”

Praying through Galatians 4:19

Heavenly Father, thank You that having been saved by grace through faith in Christ, I can progress to spiritual maturity as I live by grace through faith in Him. Help me to see that it is not my own works that are pleasing in the sight of God, but Christ living in me and working through me so that it is not I that live but Christ that lives in me. May I live my life to Your praise and glory, by grace through faith and not of works of the flesh. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 4:21

Heavenly Father, thank You that sin no longer has power over me, and I am no longer under the condemnation of the Law because there is no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus. Keep me from becoming ensnared under the curse of legalism, and may I live my new life in Christ in freedom. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 4:27

Heavenly Father, thank You for this peep into Isaiah's amazing prophecy that spoke of Sarah, that barren and desolate woman who was unable to conceive, after the flesh. Thank You that Paul opened up this amazing Scripture to us and showed that Sarah corresponds to the New Covenant, the heavenly Jerusalem, and the rejoicing mother of all Your spiritual children who have been saved by grace, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for the forgiveness of my sins and life everlasting. Thank You that I am part of that great congregation who have an inheritance in the New Jerusalem. May I live a life that is worthy of my calling - to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.”

Praying through Galatians 4:28

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful, real-life story of Abraham and the allegory that Paul used to demonstrate the freedom we have in Christ by faith and the bondage we retain when we seek to live our Christian life according to the works of the flesh - or by following the Law. Thank You that in Christ I am a child of promise, having been supernaturally born again by the Spirit. May I jealously guard my freedom in Christ and not be enticed into the legalistic practices that place us back under bondage to the Law. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.”

Praying through Galatians 4:31

Heavenly Father, what a blessing it is to know that we are not under bondage to sin, Satan, and the Law, but by grace through faith in Christ, we have been set free. Thank You that I am a citizen of heaven and connected with the Jerusalem above. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.”

Prayer For Alcoholic Husbands

Oh Lord Jesus, how difficult life has become due to my husbands excessive drinking of alcohol, well it is now really become alcohol addiction. Life has become so hard, almost unbearable, and his temper is at times out of control, and Lord, I am beginning to fear for our safety.

Lord, You know that this is splitting our family apart and at times I despair that this addiction to alcohol will ever be overcome. Lord, it has not only affected his moods and his increasingly uncaring attitude toward me, but it is affecting his work and I am wondering if he may actually lose his job as a result of this.

Father, it is painful to see someone You love in this pitiful state and I pray for Your guidance and strength to be able to deal with this in a way that honours You, but also for the wisdom to know what to do and how to help my husband.

Lord, I know that it may be a dangerous prayer to pray, but I ask that whatever it takes You would bring my husband to the point of desperation, where You are the only Person to Whom he can turn, as I know that only You can intervene in this addiction and return him to his normal mind.

Father, at times I feel weak and unable to cope and yet I know that Your strength is made perfect in our weakness. Lord, I know that Your grace is sufficient for me and ask that You would remain close to me, to lead and to guide, so that I would know what to do to help him overcome his alcohol addition and encourage him to turn to Jesus, in Whose name I pray,

Amen.

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

Praying through Galatians 5:4

Heavenly Father, thank You for the important teachings of Paul in the book of Galatians and the serious peril that comes from trying to be justified by works of the Law, rather than as a free gift of grace through faith in Jesus. It staggers my understanding that You should love me to the extent that You gave Your only begotten Son to become the substitute for my sin. Were it not for the Lord Jesus, I could never be justified on my own merit, but I praise and thank You for Your wonderful plan of redemption, whereby I am credited with righteousness, through faith. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 5:5

Heavenly Father, I pray that I may wait with patience and grace as, through the power of the Holy Spirit, I continue to look for the any day return of the Lord Jesus and wait for the glorious ‘hope of righteousness’. Help me to know You more and more with each passing day, and may my life and conversation be a true reflection of the life of Christ living in me. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 5:7

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your Word stands fast forever and ever, and that no matter what evil agendas may be used by the enemy to discredit Your name, to belittle the Person and Work of the Lord Jesus, to blind the eyes of the unsaved, and to shipwreck the lives of those that have been saved by grace through faith, we know that You are stronger and You have promised to finish the good work that You have started in all believers. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose name will one day be glorified throughout all the earth. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 5:9

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your written Word and the truth of the gospel. Help me to discern any false doctrine that may be seeping into the Church, or into my own heart. May I anchor my soul to the Word of God as the bed-rock of my faith, and refuse to allow legalism, liberalism, or any other kind of compromised truth to seep in and ruin my witness. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 5:10

Heavenly Father, thank You that You started a good work in me at my salvation and have promised to complete it at the day of Christ. Protect my heart and mind from any of the false teachings that have infiltrated Christendom today, and help me never to substitute slavery to the Law for the freedom I have in Christ. Thank You that justification is by faith alone in Christ alone and not by works of the Law. I pray that I would hold fast to the truth of Your Word, day by day, and study to show myself approved unto You. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 5:11

Heavenly Father, thank You for the simple message of salvation, that it is Your free gift of grace through faith alone in Christ alone, as written in Your precious Word. Thank You that my salvation does not rest on what I have done, but on what He has done on my behalf. Keep me looking to Jesus alone. In His name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 5:13

Heavenly Father, thank You for this important reminder that both legalism and a license to sin is unacceptable in the life of a child of God. Thank You for the freedom I have in Christ, and help me to live in holiness and righteousness to Your praise and glory, serving others through Christ's love, which only comes as I continue to abide in Him and He in me. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 5:16

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have given me a regenerated human spirit, and the power to live my life in spirit and truth. I pray that, day by day, I may walk by means of the Spirit and submit to His leading and guiding. Help me to listen to His voice, submit to His will, and be obedient to His correction so that I will not succumb to the desires of the flesh but rather walk in newness of life. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 5:17

Heavenly Father, I know that I am weak and that my fleshly nature lusts against the new Christ-like nature that I received as a free gift of grace, when I first trusted Christ as Saviour. I pray that I would make the right choices and not yield to the old sin nature but submit to the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit within. Help me to grow in grace and mature in the faith, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 5:18

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been saved by grace through faith in Christ and am no longer under the Law, but under grace. Thank You that my old, fallen nature was crucified with Christ on the Cross. I pray that it will remain nailed to the Tree so that I may be led by the Spirit of God and walk in newness of life. Keep me, I pray, from fleshly inclinations and legalistic practices that place me back in bondage to my old sin nature and the works of the flesh. Help me to live and move and have my being in You so that I can say as Paul did, "The life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved me, and gave himself for me." In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Galatians 6:1

Heavenly Father, I pray that I may grow in grace and live my life as You would have me live, in spirit and in truth. Help me to be kind, compassionate, hospitable, and gracious toward my brothers and sisters in Christ. May I love others in the same way that Christ loved me and gave Himself for me. Help me to exhibit a spirit of forgiveness and grace, honouring others above myself. Give me a spirit of gentleness and love in my dealings with others, especially those that are straying from the path of righteousness. Keep me ever humble before You, lest I am tempted to sin and so dishonour Your holy name. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons I am learning and the importance of becoming a spiritual Christian and fulfilling the law of Christ by abiding in Him and submitting to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. May I grow in grace and wisdom, humility and gentleness, so that in the power of the Holy Spirit I may be spiritually enabled to support the weak, help the afflicted, bear the burdens of my brothers and sisters in Christ, restore those that have been tempted into sin, and thus fulfil the Christ-like law of godly love to Your praise and glory. Praying through Galatians 6:5

Heavenly Father, thank You that in Christ I am a new creature, and by faith in Him I have become a child of God. I pray I may be a good steward of the work that You have given me to do, and that I remain low at the Cross and broken before You, knowing that I must one day stand before the judgement seat of Christ. Give me the wisdom and strength I need to give encouragement to my brothers and sisters when they fall, but help me to do so without hypercritical judgement, and may I live the rest of my life in a manner that honours Your holy name.
