Praying through Zephaniah 1:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for the inspired Scriptures which are living, powerful, and cannot be broken. Thank You for the prophecies of holy men of God, like Zephaniah, warning us of the wrath to come. I am so thankful that You provided a way for me to be saved, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I praise You that Your plan of redemption will finally come to fruition and all believing Israel will be redeemed and restored for Your greater honour and glory. Help me not to become complacent about the wrath that is to come on this God-hating, Christ-rejecting, sinful world, but to share the good news of the gospel of grace with as many as I can so that many more would come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and be plucked from the brands. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the LORD.”

Praying through Zephaniah 1:15

Heavenly Father, Your plans and purposes for humanity are amazing and I praise and thank You that You did not leave us dead in our sins and enslaved to Satan in his despotic 'day'. Thank You that You saved me from my sin by sending Jesus to be punished in my place and that He rose again to give me His life. Thank You that the wrath of God, which I justly deserve, was poured out on Christ instead of me. Open the eyes of many who remain lost in their sin and under God's condemnation while there is still time to escape the dreadful wrath that is to come. I pray this in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,”
(Zephaniah 1:15)

Praying through Zephaniah 1:17

Heavenly Father, how I thank You for my great salvation, but I realise there are many lost souls, who will be flung into the great and terrible Day of the Lord if they do not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Use me, I pray, to tell out the good news to those I meet. Embolden me to speak the truth in love and bring many into Your eternal kingdom, before it is too late. This I ask in Jesus' precious name, AMEN.

“And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.”
(Zephaniah 1:17)

Praying through Zephaniah 1:18

Heavenly Father, what a gracious God You are and full of mercy, for although Your people broke their covenant, rebelled against You, and became an idolatrous nation, You purposed in Your heart to fulfil all the promises You made to their fathers in the wilderness. Thank You that You are not only a God of love and mercy, but also a God of justice, judgement, and a consuming fire Who will one day rid this fallen world of all the evil that has been perpetrated against You and against Your people. Thank You that even in wrath, You have promised to remember mercy. Your goodness and grace are new every morning, great is Your faithfulness and I love You, Lord. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.”
(Zephaniah 1:18)

For America As A Nation Who Has Lost Its Way

Loving Lord, I come to You to place the once great nation of United States of America at Your feet, knowing that our great country and it's constitution was made for a moral and religious people and is wholly inadequate for any other form of government, and yet we have strayed so far from the principles and practices of our great founders, who drew up our constitution based on Your Word.

But Lord, although this was once the land of the brave and the home of the free, sadly there is so much that is wrong with our country that I fear for its future. Lord, as a people we have walked away from You and discredited Your holy name by the way that we have conducted ourselves over the past few years and there is no health in our land.

Look down in pity on our people and our land, and protect us from those that seem determined on destroying our nation. Send Your Spirit I pray, through the land of America, and touch the hearts of all those that are called by Your name to plead on behalf our people. Convict those that are damaging our infrastructure and as a nation may we turn away from our wicked ways and return You to Your rightful position, in integrity and truth.

I ask this in Jesus' name,

Amen.

“Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.”

Praying through Zephaniah 2:8

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the Author of good, the Architect of justice, the Producer of peace, and the Designer of salvation. Thank You that You work all things together for our eternal good and even use the problems, pain, injustices, and evil in this world, to carry forward Your perfect plans and purposes, for the benefit of those that love and trust you... and also for the condemnation of those who refuse to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. May I always be mindful of the truth that You have already defeated that which is evil at the Cross, and that a day is coming when sin, Satan, death, and hell, will be fully and finally eradicated from the earth and Christ will be all in all. Keep me looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of my faith, for His name's sake, AMEN.

“I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.”

Heavenly Father, You are good and gracious, righteous and true. Thank You that the day is coming when You will right all wrongs and bring everything under Your righteous and holy authority. “The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.”

Praying through Zephaniah 3:8

Thank You, Father, that You are a God that does not change, that Your Word is true and Your promises sure. I pray that I may learn to wait, to simply wait for You to act. Grow my patience Lord, not only in my day-to-day life, but also in the world situation where evil is multiplying so rapidly. I trust You, because Your timing is perfect and all Your ways are just. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

“Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.”

Praying through Zephaniah 3:17

Loving Father, I am not worthy to be in Your presence and yet you show Your love for me in everything. Lord, who am I that You would delight in me and rejoice over me with singing? My precious Saviour, thank You for loving me so much. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”
