Praying through Zephaniah 1:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for the inspired Scriptures which are living, powerful, and cannot be broken. Thank You for the prophecies of holy men of God, like Zephaniah, warning us of the wrath to come. I am so thankful that You provided a way for me to be saved, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I praise You that Your plan of redemption will finally come to fruition and all believing Israel will be redeemed and restored for Your greater honour and glory. Help me not to become complacent about the wrath that is to come on this God-hating, Christ-rejecting, sinful world, but to share the good news of the gospel of grace with as many as I can so that many more would come to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and be plucked from the brands. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the LORD.”

Praying through Zephaniah 1:15

Heavenly Father, Your plans and purposes for humanity are amazing and I praise and thank You that You did not leave us dead in our sins and enslaved to Satan in his despotic 'day'. Thank You that You saved me from my sin by sending Jesus to be punished in my place and that He rose again to give me His life. Thank You that the wrath of God, which I justly deserve, was poured out on Christ instead of me. Open the eyes of many who remain lost in their sin and under God's condemnation while there is still time to escape the dreadful wrath that is to come. I pray this in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,”
(Zephaniah 1:15)

Praying through Zephaniah 1:17

Heavenly Father, how I thank You for my great salvation, but I realise there are many lost souls, who will be flung into the great and terrible Day of the Lord if they do not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Use me, I pray, to tell out the good news to those I meet. Embolden me to speak the truth in love and bring many into Your eternal kingdom, before it is too late. This I ask in Jesus' precious name, AMEN.

“And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.”
(Zephaniah 1:17)

Praying through Zephaniah 1:18

Heavenly Father, what a gracious God You are and full of mercy, for although Your people broke their covenant, rebelled against You, and became an idolatrous nation, You purposed in Your heart to fulfil all the promises You made to their fathers in the wilderness. Thank You that You are not only a God of love and mercy, but also a God of justice, judgement, and a consuming fire Who will one day rid this fallen world of all the evil that has been perpetrated against You and against Your people. Thank You that even in wrath, You have promised to remember mercy. Your goodness and grace are new every morning, great is Your faithfulness and I love You, Lord. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.”
