Prayer for Exodus

Praying through Exodus 1:5

Heavenly Father, as I begin to understand Your amazing plan of salvation, which had to come through a perfect, sinless, Kinsman-Redeemer, I begin to understand the incredible significance of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the nation of Israel. Through them came God's promised human Seed, born as the holy, eternal, Son of God, into the race which He Himself created. Thank You that the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us. Thank You that He died to pay the price for the redemption of the whole world. Thank You that Jesus rose again to give us new life. And thank You that He is my Redeemer. I pray for the nation of Israel, that they will one day come to national repentance and cry out to Him Who comes in name of the Lord, for their salvation. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.”

Praying through Exodus 2:10

Loving Heavenly Father, how I thank You for Your Word, the truths within its pages, and the many lessons I can learn from both the Old and New Testaments. Thank You that You schedule every day of my life and that You know the end before the beginning. Help me to trust You in every area of my life, especially during those times when things appear to be out of control. Thank You for the lessons I can learn from the action and faith I see in the parents of Moses, who trusted their baby son into Your hands. What a comfort it is to know that You are my sovereign God Who holds the universe in the palm of Your hands. Thank You for Your love and grace towards me. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.”

Praying through Exodus 3:2

Heavenly Father, what a long period of training Moses had to undergo to be prepared for the work You destined to do in his life. At times I am so impetuous and want things done in my life immediately, and yet I realise You take time to call and train, fashion and hone Your servants, in the things You have prepared for them to do. Develop that same patient spirit and humble heart I see in Moses, and remove from my character anything that dishonours Your holy name. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.”

Praying through Exodus 3:4

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that my ears may be open to Your call and my heart ready to obey Your voice and follow Your calling on my life. I pray that no matter what circumstances I may have to face in life, that I may be ready and willing to work the work of God that You have prepared for me. I also pray that no matter how long I have to wait, I have the assurance that You are daily preparing me for the task ahead. Help me to die to my own self-will and live for Christ alone so that You are enabled to work through me for Your greater praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name AMEN.

“And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.”

Praying through Exodus 3:12

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are not only with me, but dwelling within me in the Person of the Holy Spirit. Thank You that Your grace is sufficient for all that You have called me to do. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.”

Praying through Exodus 3:14

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are all I have ever needed, all I will ever need in the days to come, and all I need today. May I rest my soul in You and trust in Your unfailing promises. You alone are worthy of all my praise and thanks forever and ever. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 4:11

Father, I begin to understand that irrespective of how limited my ability or how boundless my talents, unless I am led of You and speak the words You instruct, I will be ineffective in my work for You. May I never forget that You are the one who made me as I am, and to trust You to fulfil the work that You have prepared for me to do. May I follow in Christ's footsteps and learn to speak only those things that I hear from You. Teach me Your will and guide me in Your ways. Lead me in the paths of righteousness and may Your will not mine be done. In Christ's name, AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 6:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your gracious love and mercy, and thank You that Your goodness and grace never changes. Thank You that You chose us, in Christ, to be Your children, and that You will guide us through all the difficulties we may face in life. Help me to live in a way that honours You, and to remember Your abundant love and grace. In Jesus' name, Amen.

“And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”

Praying through Exodus 9:20

Heavenly Father, it is most wonderful to realise that through the ten terrible plagues of Egypt which caused such hardship for so many, I can trace Your long-suffering mercy toward fallen man. I can also see Your perfect plan of redemption for those that will listen to Your voice, obey Your instructions, turn from their wicked ways, and believe on You. Thank You that in the past, as well as in this present time, it is not Your will that any should perish. It is Your will that all should come to repentance, turn from their sin, and trust in Christ for the forgiveness of sin. Praise Your holy name! AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 12:13

Heavenly Father, what a terrifying time this must have been for the Israelites and Egyptians alike, as the first Passover took place and the Angel of Death either killed the first-born son of a family, or passed over if the house inhabitants had put the blood of the lamb on their doorposts. What a wonderful picture of the fact we are not saved by our nationality, wealth, or accomplishments, but by the blood of the Lamb of God. May many more people, Jew and Gentile alike, believe on Jesus, His death, and Resurrection, and have their sins forgiven by His redeeming blood. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.”

Praying through Exodus 14:13

Heavenly Father, when the storms of life are raging, when my enemies seem to multiply with every passing day and there seems to be no way to turn, help me to be still, knowing that You are God. Help me to stand in quiet dependence upon You. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus, to abide in His love, and to trust His Word. I know that Your grace is sufficient for every occasion and that You have promised never to leave me nor forsake me. Help me to stand still and see the salvation of my God today. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.”

Praying through Exodus 14:14

Father, I thank You for Your many precious promises. Forgive me for the times when I take my eyes of You and slip into unbelief. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on Christ and the truth of Your Word. Help me to rest in You and trust all the issues of my life into Your hands, allowing You to work in Your way and to Your glory. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 15:25

Heavenly Father, there are times when I become astonished and even angry with Israel’s lack of discernment and inability to trust in You as their Provider and Healer, their Almighty God, and gracious Saviour. But Father, as I consider their lack of trust, their foolish murmurings, and prideful attitude, I recognise the times that I have been guilty of the same unbelief. Forgive me for my lack of faith. I pray that in my personal difficulties, I would shake off my cloak of unbelief and trust in You for every eventuality of life. Even those times when I do not understand or when things seem unfair, help me trust in You. Thank You that Jesus came to earth and turned my bitterness into sweetness and saved me by grace through faith in Him. Keep me low at the Cross and broken before You. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 15:26

Heavenly Father, thank You, that You are the great healer. I am thankful I can lay my burdens at Your feet. I pray for Your healing touch in my life. You are my Jehovah-Rapha, and Your grace is sufficient. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.

“And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”

Praying through Exodus 17:15

Thank You, Father, for the spiritual lessons I can learn from faithful saints like Moses and Joshua, Aaron and Hur. May I recognise that in everything, Jesus is all I need, and that under Your banner I can face the future in full assurance and peace. I pray that my prayers and intercessions will be underpinned by Jesus, the Rock of my Salvation, the Hope of the whole earth and the Standard with Whom I am identified. With every passing day, I pray that I may trust in Him, stand against the enemy in prayer and intercession, and be upheld in truth, through Jesus Christ, my God and Saviour, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 19:5

Heavenly Father, as I read through Your Word, I see the wonderful plan of salvation which You purposed to carry out through Your chosen people, Israel. Despite them disobeying the conditions of Your covenant, You never gave up on Your people and used them to be Your witnesses through whom was born the Messiah Who became the sin-offering for the world. Thank You that today, for a season, You are carrying out Your plans and purposes through the Body of Christ, which is the Church. I am so grateful that Israel will always be Your chosen people and that the day is coming when You will ratify Your New Covenant with the house of Judah and the house of Israel. I am looking forward to that blessed day when Christ will return to set up His kingdom on earth, as King of kings and Lord of lords. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:”

Praying through Exodus 20:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word of truth. Give me deeper understanding of Your plans for Israel and Your purposes for the Church. May I study to show myself approved unto God. I pray Your Word would dwell in my heart richly, by faith, with all wisdom and understanding. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 20:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the truths and encouragement that it contains. I see that You were faithful to Israel, despite their many failings, and rejoice to know that You will remain faithful to all who are called by Your name in this Church dispensation. I pray that You would use me in these dark and difficult times, when the world seems to be spiralling out of control, and may I never forget that You are a faithful God Who keeps His promises to a thousand generations. Thank You in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 20:3

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom of Your Law. You knew it was impossible for us to keep the Law, but You used it as our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ. In Your grace, the Lord Jesus came to fulfil the Law and the prophets. He died on the Cross so that a new and better covenant might be implemented, that all who believe in Jesus would not perish but have everlasting life. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 20:4

Heavenly Father, I realise, more and more, how despicable and obnoxious is the practice of idolatry, when someone or something is seated on the throne of my life instead of Jesus Christ, the true and living God. Keep me from any form of idolatry. Protect me from the wiles of the devil, and help me to keep the eyes of my heart on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of my faith. Knowing that I died with Christ and have been raised up in Him into newness of life, I pray that king self may be kept in the place of death and that I will not be hoodwinked into giving honour to anything, except my God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 20:12

Heavenly Father, thank You for my parents and for giving me life. Thank You for the lessons I have learned and the good times we have shared together. Forgive me for the times when I have not honoured my father and mother as I ought - for I am aware that this is dishonouring to You. From this day forward, I pray that I may honour You in all my interactions with my family and friends, and may my life be honouring to You. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”

Praying through Exodus 20:13

Heavenly Father, Your Laws are gracious and good and expose the dark thoughts of the heart that leads to the ungodly works of the devil. Satan was a murderer from the beginning and we understand how the thoughts of the heart can translate into murder - as brutal as an assassin's blade or the terrorist's murderous bomb. Keep my mind pure and focused on the Lord and I pray that my heart may reflect the grace and love of God for my fellow men and that many may come to faith as I testify of Your goodness and love. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Thou shalt not kill.”

Praying through Exodus 21:6

Loving Lord and Heavenly Father, what a beautiful picture of the true freedom we have in Christ, which is seen in the slave of Exodus 21 -  where out of love for his master, who redeemed him from the shackles of slavery, he chooses to have his ear pierced with an awl and dedicate the rest of his life to the master whom he loves. Thank You that I have been saved from the slave market of sin through faith in Christ. I desire to be a living sacrifice and dedicate my life to Your service. I pray that I may live the rest of my life as a faithful bond-slave of the Lord Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.”

Praying through Exodus 30:6

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Scriptures and the amazing way they all point to Christ, Who is the one and only way to God, and that by faith in the redemptive power of His shed blood on the Cross, we may receive forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Thank You that Christ ever lives to make intercession for His people and I pray that I too may learn to pray without ceasing, to give thanks in all things, and to love You with all my heart, and soul, and mind, and strength, for Your goodness and grace. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 31:13

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You have sanctified me and set me apart as a special vessel of Yours. Thank You that I was called, chosen, sanctified, and glorified, from before the foundation of the world. Your wisdom is unsurpassed and the picture of the Lord Jesus as my beautiful Sabbath rest rejoices my heart. Bless Your people, Israel, and bring them at last into their promised rest. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.”

Praying through Exodus 33:14

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are a God Who is faithful and true and Who has promised to be with us as we journey through life and give us Your rest - just as You did for Your people, Israel. Thank You for the godly example of Moses who was jealous for the honour of Your name and was quick to intercede for Your people when they became obstinate and stiff-necked. Thank You that I have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to lead and to guide me through the journey of life, and thank You, Father, that my rest and redemption is secure in Christ Jesus my Lord, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 33:15

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lessons You teach me through the history of Israel. Thank You that Your promises to them never failed, and Your presence remained with them despite their disobedience. I thank You that Your promises to me are also 'yes' and 'amen' in Christ Jesus my Kinsman-Redeemer, that I have found grace in Your eyes, and that in Your grace I am held safe and secure. Praise Your Holy name! AMEN.

Praying through Exodus 33:22

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful way that You led and guided Your people Israel, despite their constant murmuring and lack of faith. Thank You that I have been born again in Christ and am seated with Him in heavenly places. Although I may not have seen Your glory with my physical eyes, I thank You, Father, that my spiritual eyes have been opened to Your truth and that I have been baptised into the Body of Christ. Thank You that I have the Holy Spirit of glory indwelling my body and am eternally positioned in Christ. May I live and work to Your praise and glory, for the rest of my life. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.
