Prayer for 1 Thessalonians

Choose Chapter

Heavenly Father, how we praise and thank You for the wonderful truth that we were chosen in Christ, from before the foundation of the world, to be Your elect people, and thank You that every one born of woman has the opportunity to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. We praise You that You do not exclude anyone who truly turns to You for salvation and thank You that it is not Your will that anyone should be lost and that Your Holy Spirit continues to convict man of sin, righteousness and judgement. May we who have been saved by grace through faith in Christ be ready and willing to be a good testimony to all with whom we come in contact, so that others may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven - this we ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.”

Loving Father I long to walk in spirit and truth in the power of Your Holy Spirit so that I decrease in my own importance and Christ increases in my life, to become all in all. May the joy of the Lord be my strength in all the difficulties and trials of life, so that Christ is seen in me and others may be drawn to Him through my witness, – this I pray in Christ’s name, AMEN.

“And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:”

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your great and precious promises. Thank You that I have been saved by grace, (through faith in Christ), from the wrath to come and that one day I will be with Him in heaven. Thank You that I am not appointed to wrath, but that Christ took the full force of Your fury against my sin on the cross of Calvary. May I never forget what it cost my Saviour to be Your sacrificial Lamb and my sin- substitute. He alone is worthy of all praise and thanksgiving - in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the ministry and mission of Paul and thank You for the faithful saints that have been used to bring the gospel down two thousand years of history, to me - so that by grace through faith in Christ's sacrificial death and glorious resurrection, I have been born again into the family of God. Use me I pray, just as You used Paul, to tell forth the good news of the gospel, and enable me to stand firm in the faith, no matter what accusations may be made against me - this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:”

Purity Prayer To Reflect The Love of God

Thank You Father God that I have been made clean through the blood of my Saviour Jesus Christ. Thank You that my sins have been washed away forever, and I pray that as I live the Christian life I may be continuously cleansed through the washing of the Word of God – for Your Word is pure and wholesome – Your Word is light and life.. Sanctify me by Your Word of grace I pray.

Help me to look deeply into Your Word of truth, knowing that the more that I am washed and cleansed by the written Word of God, the more I will come to see the lovely face of the living Word of God- my beautiful Saviour - Jesus Christ my Lord

I pray that my heart and mind may be purified daily but the cleansing flood that comes from You and I pray that rivers of living water may flow from You through me to others – so that I may reflect the love of God in my life and point others to Christ. May the face of Jesus my Saviour be the only thing that others see in me – for I must decrease so that He may increase – I ask this in Jesus name

Amen

“That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.”

May we ever hope in the Lord and look for His any-day return, when He comes to take us to be with Himself – this we ask in Jesus name. AMEN.

Purity Prayer - To Flee Fornication

Dear Lord God, I seek a true inner purity that only comes from You and I come to You, knowing that I stand unclean, impure and wretched before Your perfect throne of purity and truth. Lord I ask Your forgiveness for the way that I have not honoured You with my body – knowing that I have engaged in many impure acts and unchaste thoughts. I confess that I am unworthy to even kneel before Your perfect presence – and yet I now understand that Christ died to pay the price for all my sins and all my impurities. Thank You that by believing in Jesus, Who died to pay the price for all my sins, You have washed me clean from every dishonouring act. Thank You Father.

Help me Lord to flee fornication and all the accompanying evils that flow from illicit sexual relationships and unclean thoughts – knowing that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, Who dwells in me and lives within my heart. Help me to keep my outward actions and inner thoughts pure before Your eyes – whether I am in the public view or hid in a secret place, and away from the gaze of the world’s eye.

Purify the eyes of my heart and help me to keep the focus of my mind on the Lord Jesus - and develop in me I pray, thoughts, words, deeds and motives that are pure in Your sight and that will honour Your Holy name, in Jesus name I pray,

Amen

“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:”

Praise for the First and Second Advents of the Lord

Dear Father God, how we rejoice when we call to our minds the glorious truth that the eternal Light of the world came to earth as a baby to become the Redeemer of mankind – to give His life for a lost world and to pour peace and hope into the hearts of a people who were estranged from their Creator God.

Father may our lives reflect His love as we look back in time to the first Advent of our Lord and Saviour – but let us never forget that there is a future Advent – a second coming when the earth will be filled with the glory of God once again – as the waters cover the sea.

Lord we know that You are returning and not as a tiny baby lying in a humble manger and wrapped in swaddling clothes but as a conquering King Who is to come to rescue His people Israel.

But Lord we know that first You are to come in the clouds to take Your church back to Your heavenly home – when the dead in Christ will rise first and we will all be changed in a moment - to become like unto You Lord Jesus.

Lord I pray that Your Church will prepare herself for Your soon return. Lord I pray that Your Body will be ready for that glorious day when You come to take us home to be with Yourself. Lord I beseech You that Your bride – who is the Church will be pure and holy, without spot and wrinkle or any such thing.. and Lord.. start that work in ME I pray, in Jesus name

Amen
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful truth that when Jesus is coming to take us to be with Himself forever. May I prepare my heart and soul to be ready for that special day when the trump of God sounds, and both the dead and living members of Your Body will receive our new, eternal body. We long for that day when we will all be translated into Your presence – but in the meantime I pray that I may live and work to Your praise and glory, AMEN.

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

Prayer and Praise During Advent

Dear heavenly Father, at this time of the year when the Church remembers the first coming of our Lord and Saviour into the world, we want to lift up our hearts and voices in prayer and praise to You, for sending the Lord Jesus Christ into the world to be our Saviour– so that through his blood we may be brought back into a right relationship with Yourself and receive the gift of eternal life – by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

At this time our thoughts are specially drawn in remembrance to the wonderful time, so long ago, when God in His grace sent the eternal Son of His love into the world to become the propitiation for our sins. How we rejoice when we recall that He set aside His glory and great majesty to take on the form of a man and be born into this world as a tiny baby, in such humble circumstances.

Lord in a world that is become more secular, I pray that the people of God who are called by Your name would take time to reflect with awe and wonder on this amazing truth and to prepare our hearts for the time when Jesus Christ will return again in power and great glory at His second Advent..

Purify our hearts we pray and sanctify our lives so they we may serve you in newness of life not only in this special season of Advent but every day of our lives – until You come to take us to be with You forever, in Jesus name we pray,

Amen
“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the comfort it gives to us. Thank You that despite the turmoil, the world is in, You are still in control. I pray that I may remain awake and alert.. looking for that blessed day, when Christ will come in the clouds to receive us unto Himself. We pray, that despite the terrible tribulation, when Your justified wrath will be poured out on a Christ rejecting sinful world.. that many would come to faith in the Lord Jesus, and be redeemed out of the terrible consequences of unbelief. The Spirit and the bride say 'come'. Maranatha - even so, come Lord Jesus. AMEN.

Heavenly Father, what a wonderful message is contained in this beautiful passage of Scripture. Thank You that You caused Paul to teach this glorious truth so clearly and simply, to the dear believers in Thessalonica. Thank You that I am a member of Christ's body, and am not appointed to wrath - because Jesus took all the punishment that I deserve upon Himself - so that I might be forgiven of my sin, and not fall under Your righteous judgement. I pray that as the day for Christ's return approaches, when He will gather His saints - both living and dead, to Himself, that I will ready. Thank You that this day will not come on me like a thief in the night, as it does for the unbeliever - thank You for telling us the end from the beginning. Help me to share this message of comfort and hope with those that are saved and those that are lost in their sin, for Your greater glory, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
