Praying through 1 Samuel 1:10

Heavenly Father, thank You for Hannah and the lovely lessons we can learn from the painful episode she underwent in her life so that her trust in You could be ignited and her faith in God could be strengthened. Teach me to pray aright, and help me to hand over every circumstance in life to You, knowing that Your way is best, and Your will is perfect. Increase my faith, I pray, and should I ever become careless in my prayer-life, bring me to that point of desperation, for You alone have the words of life. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.”

Praying through 1 Samuel 1:11

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lovely story of Hannah, the maidservant of the Lord whose prayer for a son was so graciously answered. You are a God Who still answers the prayers and petitions of the humble, and today, I lift up those women who long for a child to bless their lives, but who have remained barren. I believe that Your power to hear and answer our pleadings is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And so I pray that You would hear and answer the desires of those who today are crying out to You for a child. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no rasor come upon his head.”

Praying through 1 Samuel 1:12

Heavenly Father and Lord of Hosts, thank You that You are a God who hears the cries of Your children and in Your grace, You not only respond to our helplessness, but You use all things to work together for our benefit and for Your greater glory. Help me to live in an attitude of trusting prayer, and I pray that You would align the desires of my heart to Your perfect will for my life. Thank You that through Christ I have continuous access to Your throne of grace, for mercy to find help in time of need. Keep me from selfish prayers. May I become fully dependent on You and may Your will be done in my life. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.”

Prayer For The Future Spouse Of My Grandchildren

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the lives of each of my lovely grandchildren that You have so graciously brought into my life. They all give me such joy and pleasure, for which I praise and thank You.

Lord, You have scheduled every day of their lives, and I pray that as they grow up into adulthood You would continue to lead and guide, to instruct and to correct. Father, I also pray that You would develop in each one a heavenly perspective and a true understanding of the Christian life and spiritual maturity, so that they grow in grace and in a right relationship with You.

Bring the right spouse into the life of each of these dear grandchildren of mine I pray. In Your grace I pray that they be granted the husband or wife of Your choice, so that together they may become a threefold cord with You, which is not easily broken.

Thank You, Lord so much, for every one of my grandchildren. Into Your hands I commit each one. May they sense Your calling on their lives, so that they develop into mighty men and women who love You deeply and trust in You implicitly. In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen.

“For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:”

Heavenly Father, keep me from prideful thoughts and careless actions, and put a guard on my lips, I pray. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.”

Prayers For Those That Are In Need

Dear God, I know that it is Your will to help those that are afflicted, to support the weak, to provide for the widows and orphans and to help those that are in need.

Use my hands to be of service to those in need, and use my voice to speak words of healing and encouragement to those that are afflicted and in distress. Thank You for hearing my prayer. In Jesus' name,

Amen.

“He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.”

Praying through 1 Samuel 3:10

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons and encouragement we can gain from the beautiful story of Samuel, the little baby born to Hannah whose life was dedicated to You and who grew into a man who listened to Your voice and obeyed the call on his life to do Your bidding. Open my ears to hear You speaking to me and use me, I pray, in whatever way You will, for Your greater praise and the glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.”

Praying through 1 Samuel 3:15

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lovely example of Samuel who was open to hear Your voice calling to Him in the night, and was obedient to obey Your call on his life. Keep me from all forms of spiritual impairment or from allowing a worldly mindset to cause me to slip into compromised Christianity or develop a lukewarm attitude to You. May I be open to every whisper of Your Word. May I be ready to obey Your call on my life, no matter when it comes or however difficult it may be. I pray that, like Samuel, my eyes, ears, heart, and will, may be open to Your leading and guidance. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.”

Praying through 1 Samuel 8:7

Heavenly Father, help me to be diligent to hold fast to the truth of the Word of God, and keep me from being swept along by every wind of doctrine that is flooding Christendom in these end times. Keep me looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of my faith, and may I finish the race that is set before me and not be tempted into the ways of the world. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the great things that You have done in my life, and for Your never-failing faithfulness. I want to reverence You more and walk in truth before You. Praying through 1 Samuel 13:14

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lessons that we can learn from the life and disobedience of king Saul who tried to justify his ungodly and rebellious ways. Help me to be like king David who was a man after God's own heart. Help me to eschew evil, trust You implicitly, and obey Your Word in spirit and in truth. Keep me low at the Cross and broken before You, and may I live to Your praise and glory in all I say and do. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.”

Praying through 1 Samuel 15:22

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons that I can learn from the history of the people and kings of Israel. Help me to listen to Your voice and pay heed to Your Word, for it is my desire to honour You in thought, word, deed, and motive, through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Samuel 16:7

Loving Father, may I heed this warning not to rely on outward appearances, knowing that the heart of man can be so deceitful. Thank You that You look through my outward appearance and see me as I truly am. You even know my motives for my words and deeds. Thank You that nothing is hidden from You. Help me to keep my mind fixed on Jesus in all I say and do, that it may be the life of the Lord Jesus that flows out from me, making me pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”

Praying through 1 Samuel 24:4

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the historical events that it contains, which so often sets an example of how to live a life that honours You by walking in spirit and truth, or being warned of what to avoid if we are not to fall into the trap of living in the lust of the flesh, or walking in the pride of our own heart. I pray that I may be 'a man after God's own heart,' and become increasingly sensitive to the inner promptings of the Holy Spirit, so that I may carry out Your best will and purpose for my life. May all I do be to Your honour and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily.”

For Families With An Alcoholic Father

Loving Heavenly Father, You put us into families and set a father as the leader and role model for each family, but Lord, there are many families that are being torn apart by a husband and father that has become addicted to alcohol.

Knowing the devastating nature of this disease, I pray that You would prompt each one to turn away from this evil habit to become the responsible husband and father that You desire each one to be.

Lord, we know that there are many alcoholic husbands that abuse their wives both physically and emotionally and that many children are also placed in danger due to abuse from an alcoholic father. And also Lord, we know that such drinking habits can often leave families with insufficient money to live on.

Protect all those that are vulnerable from all forms of abuse, and convict such men of the responsibilities of being loving husbands and dependable fathers. Lord, we pray that they turn from their evil ways to turn to the Lord Jesus, knowing that only in You is true freedom found.

Thank You Father. I commit all families that are in this position into Your safe-keeping. In Jesus' name,

Amen.

“And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast.”
