Praying through Proverbs 1:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and convicting me of sin, righteousness, and judgement, and thank You that by faith in Christ I have been brought into Your kingdom and placed into His Body. To You alone belongs my reverential fear, humble worship, and eternal devotion, through time and into eternity. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Proverbs 1:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for placing us in families and for giving us the understanding that parents are ordained by You, to train up their children in the reverential fear of the Lord. In a world where honour and respect for parents and older mentors is becoming increasingly scorned, I pray that children and young people would be willing to listen to words of instruction from their fathers and to hold fast to the teachings they receive from their mothers. I pray Your protection over Christian families everywhere. May Your name be honoured and respected by old and young alike, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:”

Healing Prayer For A Lonely Person

Oh Lord, I am ill and feel frightened and alone as I have no one to care for me. I have no one who is really interested in me at all, and I feel lost and alone and so vulnerable. And now Lord Jesus, I have come down with this sickness and I feel so ill. Lord, I ask You please to make me well again soon, and lift up my sagging spirit, I pray.

I know Lord in my heart that I am not alone, because You are with me, which is the real reason that I am praying to You now, because You promised to be with me and never to leave me or forsake me, even when everyone else does. Be with me now I pray, and reach out Your healing hand of blessing and touch me Lord. Please make me feel better, not only in my body but also in my life, I pray.

Thank You, that I can call on You in times of trouble or illness or loneliness, and know that You are always there to hear and answer, to heal and comfort and help. Lord, I pray that You would help me to really apply this truth in my life, not just when I am sick, but every day.

Amen.

“Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:”

Prayer For The Future Spouse Of My Grandchildren

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the lives of each of my lovely grandchildren that You have so graciously brought into my life. They all give me such joy and pleasure, for which I praise and thank You.

Lord, You have scheduled every day of their lives, and I pray that as they grow up into adulthood You would continue to lead and guide, to instruct and to correct. Father, I also pray that You would develop in each one a heavenly perspective and a true understanding of the Christian life and spiritual maturity, so that they grow in grace and in a right relationship with You.

Bring the right spouse into the life of each of these dear grandchildren of mine I pray. In Your grace I pray that they be granted the husband or wife of Your choice, so that together they may become a threefold cord with You, which is not easily broken.

Thank You, Lord so much, for every one of my grandchildren. Into Your hands I commit each one. May they sense Your calling on their lives, so that they develop into mighty men and women who love You deeply and trust in You implicitly. In Jesus' name I pray,

Prayer For Alcoholic Addiction Recovery

Heavenly Father, I confess that I have not only hurt other people, and especially those that are close to me, but I have offended You and ignored some of the warnings that I believe were directly or indirectly sent from You. Help me I pray to break free of this ungodly addiction and get on the road to recovery.

Forgive me Lord, for I have sinned against You and ignored the clear teaching of Your Word to live soberly, righteously and in the fear of the Lord and to walk circumspectly before You, as a child of the light. But I come to You in humble submission to ask You to help me to get on the road to addiction recovery, for I know that You have promised to lift-up all who come to You out of the miry pit, even when we have foolishly dug it for ourselves.

Help me be set free from alcohol, putting on the breastplate of righteousness, and for the helmet of salvation in Christ, in Whose name I pray,

Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the words of wisdom in this book of Proverbs and for the warning to be cautious of hypocritical people who put on a show of generosity, but are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Give me wisdom and discernment as I travel through life so that I am prevented from falling into a trap. I know that as a man thinks, so is he. Purify my thoughts, I pray, and may the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart, reflect the grace and truth of Christ Jesus my Lord. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.”

Prayer For Alcoholic Anonymous

Father, thank You for all those that are involved in helping others with their addiction to alcohol. We thank You for places like Alcoholic Anonymous and the many Christian ministries and rehab centres that are dedicated to helping men and women recover from this debilitating and distressing addiction, and showing them the love of the Lord Jesus.

Give wisdom, grace and patience to all that are serving in one capacity or another to relieve the distress and devastation that alcoholism leaves in it wake. We pray that You would give them the right words of encouragement and advice to enable those that are addicted to permanently break free of their alcoholism and so live a more meaningful and fruitful life.

We pray that You would not only rescue alcoholic men and women from the depths of despair to which many have fallen, but also that You would raise them up into a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and bring them into newness of life in Him, to His praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name,

Amen.

Praying through Proverbs 25:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word. Thank You for the simple truth of salvation and the things in Your Word that are quickly discernible on the surface. Thank You for Your promise that those that seek out the deep things of God through steady and systematic study of the Word of God, a heart that is truly teachable, and a spirit that is thoroughly submitted to the leading of the Holy Spirit of God, will discover many hidden truths and secret treasures within Your Word. May I be a diligent student and search out those secret things which are hidden from our view. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.”

Praying through Proverbs 26:20

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom in the book of Proverbs. Help me to take to heart the devastation and destruction that can be caused by careless speech and foolish words. Keep me from participating in any form of talebearing or gossiping. Help me to take to heart this simple truth, that without wood, a fire will go out, and without a gossip, conflict will die down. Purify my heart and my speech I pray, and may the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be acceptable to You. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.”

Praying through Proverbs 27:9

Loving Father, thank You that in Christ, I have a friend that sticks closer than a brother. Help me to reflect You in all I do so that I show forth the grace of Jesus to all I meet. May my life be that sweet-smelling savour to others and to You, as I abide in Christ. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Proverbs 27:19

Blessed Lord and Father, what wonderful truths are contained within Your Word. I pray that I may learn to keep the eyes of my heart fixed upon Christ, and to daily search the Scriptures more faithfully, so that I may learn more of You and increasingly reflect the Lord Jesus in all I say and do. I pray that my life may be a mirror-image of Him, that I may only say the things that He has taught me, and only do those things that honour Him, so that His grace, and love, and care, and beauty, may be seen in me and flow out to others. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Proverbs 29:25

Thank You, Father, for Your many beautiful promises of ‘contrast’. I begin to understand, more and more, that there is nothing in life that should cause me to fear, for You have promised to be with me in every circumstance of life and Your grace is sufficient to counter every fear in my heart. Keep me looking to Jesus and trusting in His precious promises. I pray that on those occasions when doubts and fear arise within, that Your Spirit will prompt me to turn my thoughts away from fear and onto You. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Proverbs 31:10

Loving Father, I praise and thank You that I am positioned in Christ and clothed with His righteousness. I pray that as I abide in You and You in me, I may willingly present myself as a living sacrifice unto You and allow Your Holy Spirit to conform me into the image and likeness of the Lord Jesus more and more with each passing day so that when others look at me, they see Christ in me, the hope of glory. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Proverbs 31:25

Loving Father, my heart rejoices in You, for You are the One that has forgiven my sin and clothed me in the righteousness of the Lord Jesus as a free gift of grace. As I look for that Blessed Hope to come, may I draw ever closer to the Lord Jesus today, so that His virtue and strength, goodness, grace, and love, are increasingly reflected through me to others, and may I ever sing praises to Your honour and glory. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Proverbs 31:28

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have given us the tools to live a virtuous Christian life that honours Your name. May I seek to apply all that Scripture teaches on godly living so that I not only care for those closest to me and bless my fellow man, but also that Your name may be glorified through the life I live. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Proverbs 31:30

Loving Lord and Heavenly Father, just as we read of the beautiful attributes that shine through the life of a virtuous woman or man of integrity, in the last chapter of the book of Proverbs, I pray that my life would become a reflection of the Lord Jesus. I pray that my self-life would remain nailed to the Cross and He would increase in my life as I decrease. Take away all those things in me that are not of you and mould me into the person You would have me to be. Lord, I want to be willing to be conformed into the beautiful likeness of Christ, and although this may at times be painful. Teach me YOUR way until I can say, "it is not I that live but Christ that lives in me." This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.”
