Praying through 1 Timothy 1:1

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are my God and my Saviour and that You sent the Lord Jesus into the world to die as my Kinsman-Redeemer. He gave His life to redeem the world so that by faith in Him all could be saved. Thank You for the work of the Holy Spirit within my heart. I pray that increasingly I may become more like Jesus, my God and my Saviour, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Timothy 1:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace, mercy, and peace, which you have bestowed on all Your children who walk in humility of heart, gentleness of spirit, and desire a knowledge of the truth. Thank You that I am Your child through faith in Christ Jesus my Lord. I pray that my faith would be strengthened and perfected as I die to self and live for Christ alone. Thank You for the ministry of Paul and the other apostles of Christ. Help me to stand fast in the evil day and grow in grace and in a knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Timothy 1:3

Heavenly Father, when I consider how seriously a Christian’s spiritual growth can be impeded by false doctrine and how deeply entrenched many unscriptural teachings have become within churches today, I pray that in Your goodness and grace, You would expose false teachers and their demonic doctrines which have affected so many church members. Give discernment to all Your children, and give elders and pastor-teachers the discernment to identify unscriptural dogma, and root out and expose certain men and women who are doing such tremendous damage to the Body of Christ. Give me discernment, I pray, and help me to be vigilant and stand firm in the faith for Your honour and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Timothy 1:4

Heavenly Father, I increasingly see that the dangers caused by false teachings in the early Church, are equally concerning in the Church today. Thank You for Your Word and the many warnings it gives to avoid the evil and do all that is well-pleasing to the Lord. Help me to be discerning in my life and never pay attention to the fanciful myths and unbiblical philosophies that are becoming so popular today. Help me to keep the focus of my heart on Jesus. Keep me from falling into the trap of dismissing the destructive elements in things like myths and mere speculation which can become such a hindrance to spiritual growth and the spread of the gospel. Keep me low at the Cross and humble before You, and help me to translate biblical truth into practical application, for Your greater glory, In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Timothy 1:8

Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You that I am justified freely by Christ's finished work on the Cross, and that salvation is a free gift to all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You that my salvation does not depend on my merit, or anything that I do. Give me discernment to identify teachers who wittingly or unwittingly, use the Law unlawfully, by adding to Christ's finished work on the Cross. How I praise and thank You that my salvation does not depend on work that I do, but is dependent on the work that Christ did at Calvary, on my behalf, for which I praise and glorify Your holy name, AMEN.

“But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;”

Praying through 1 Timothy 1:10

Heavenly Father, it is a sad state of affairs to realise that moral relativity has replaced the Word of truth in modern culture. Forgive us, Lord, for allowing the philosophies of fallen man to have so quickly infiltrated society in general and the Church in particular. Forgive us for allowing so much humanistic reasoning and unbiblical trends to enter our churches, schools, and governments. Be merciful, I pray, and bring us back to the objective truth of Your Word. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Timothy 1:15

Glory to God in the highest for Your plan of salvation, and praise Your holy name that I have become Your child, simply because I trusted in the saving work of Christ on Calvary. Thank You, for laying out Your wonderful plan in such simple terms that even I can understand it. In His name, I fully accept this glorious, trustworthy truth. Enable me to be a worthy witness of Christ’s great redeeming sacrifice for the whole world, that whoever calls on the name of the Lord, will be saved. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”

Praying through 1 Timothy 2:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift and privilege of prayer. It is amazing to realise that by faith in Christ's sacrificial work on the Cross, I have been given access into the very throne room of Almighty God to intercede on behalf of others and to offer my prayers and supplications to You. Teach me to pray aright and help me to develop an ongoing attitude of prayerful thanksgiving and reverential praise - for You alone are worthy. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

A Prayer For Our Country

Lord God and Heavenly King, You alone are the Lord of the earth and King of the universe, and You alone can revive and restore the United States Of America and bring us back under Your own Sovereign rule.

Give our President, together with his advisors and the whole of his administration, the wisdom and grace to turn from the ungodly path that they are following, and may they set this nation back on the path of trusting in God.

Motivate all our congressmen to strive for integrity and wisdom in all the choices and decisions they make, and may those that are entrusted as judges and lawmakers, likewise act in righteousness, impartiality and integrity as they work for the benefit of all people, and to the honour of Your holy name.

Heavenly King, we place our nation at your feet, and pray that we may once again serve You as a nation. May Your will be done in the once greatest nation of the world, the United States of America.

Amen.

“For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wise instruction Paul gave to Timothy, on the importance and effectiveness of prayer. Help me to pray at all times and to intercede for all men, in spirit, in truth, and without ceasing. Help me to be alert to the rising prayer needs in my own life and the needs of people around the world. Give me a heart to intercede for all men everywhere, for kings, princes, presidents, and leaders, in both the political and spiritual realm. Thank You, Lord, that You are a God Who hears and answers the prayers of the righteous. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many instructions on godly living we receive in Your Word. I pray that I may grow in grace and conduct myself in a manner that honours Your name. Praying through 1 Timothy 2:11

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful way that You have ordained the roles and responsibilities of Christian men and women to complement one another and to reflect the relationship between Christ and the Church. May I be one that seeks to behave in a manner that honours You, both at home and in the wider community. May my life and behaviour compliment the brothers and sisters in my own church community. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Timothy 2:12

Heavenly Father, forgive us for the current, frenzied mindset of ‘women’s lib’ and women’s rights which has caused complete confusion in many of our churches and Christian communities. Forgive us, for interpreting Your Word with liberal glasses which consider biblical truth to be outdated and irrelevant, or for teaching it with a legalistic mindset where women are either elevated into unbiblical roles within the Church, or prevented from engaging in any form of service to God and others. Thank You that You determined an order in creation, in our homes, in the wider community, and within our church fellowships. May the people Who are called by Your name, reject the world’s mindset and return to reading Your Word, in spirit and in truth. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”

Praying through 1 Timothy 3:2

Heavenly Father, I pray for the elders and overseers in our churches and communities. May the characteristics and qualities that Paul lists in his letter to Timothy, be taken to heart by all who have positions of responsibility in my own church and wider afield. I pray that You would establish godly men in eldership positions who are above reproach and pray that each one would be ready and willing to examine their heart, to see if there are areas in their life that need to be addressed. I pray that in my own life, I may strive to attain to the many qualities that You expect from all Your children. Thank You that in Christ I have all I need for life and godliness, and I pray that from this day forward, I take to heart the need to be above reproach, in word, in deed, and in my relationship with others. I pray that I may become approved unto God, be willing to share the good news of the gospel of Christ with others, and be ready to give a biblical answer to everyone for the hope I have in Christ. This I ask in His precious name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Timothy 3:5

Heavenly Father, thank You for the clear, biblical guidelines, on the role of elders and overseers in the Church. I pray for all who are called into Church leadership, that they may endeavour to live godly lives as outlined in the first book of Timothy. Grant them wisdom and grace to manage their own households in godly fear, and translate the practice of loving leadership in their homes into caring supervision of their congregations. Keep them from the many fleshly pitfalls that could harm their testimony, and may all Your children seek to live godly in Christ Jesus, to His praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of God and the wonderful truths that are contained within its pages. Thank You that I have everything I need to live a pure and holy life and have been taught how to conduct myself in this fallen world system. I praise You that by faith in Christ, I am a member of the household of God and part of the Body of Christ, which is identified as "the Church of the living God." Help me to stand firm in these evil days, and be a strong and established pillar of truth that points lost sinners to Christ, Who is the source, the seal, and the consummation of our faith, and in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Timothy 3:16

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am in Christ and that through His death and Resurrection, I have been made a new creation and have received His life within. Thank You that the Word of God became incarnate and was manifest in the flesh in the person of Christ. Thank You for revealing the truth of the glorious gospel in the written Word of God, and thank You for bestowing on all Your children, the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: "Which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." I pray that I may show forth the love of Christ in all I say and do, to His praise and glory, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Timothy 4:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for this serious and important warning. I recognise how quickly I can be distracted from the truth of Your Word, enticed away into worldly pursuits, or rendered spiritually impotent by doctrines of demons. Keep me, I pray, and those that I love from the wiles of the enemy. Give us spiritual discernment and a determination to stand fast in the faith, to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Timothy 4:2

Heavenly Father, I realise how important it is to have a thorough and correct understanding of the Word of God, for without it, I am vulnerable to apostate teachers and the wiles of the enemy who delights to shipwreck the faith of believers and render their lives powerless and unfruitful. Help me to be a vigilant student of Scripture, and give me discernment to detect any attacks of the enemy in my life or the lives of other believers. I pray for protection over vulnerable Christians who may be deceived by the hypocritical lies of apostate teachers, and I pray that in Your grace, You would raise up men who will stand firm on God’s Word and speak the truth in love. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have graciously allowed us to have access to the Word of God and the truth it contains. For this, I give You grateful thanks and praise. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Timothy 5:3

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wise words of Paul to Timothy, on the way that we should treat older men and women in our community. As they advance in years, it can be a temptation to dismiss them as unimportant, but each one has a unique story to tell and each is a precious child of the King and important to You. Heavenly Father, thank You for friends and family. Thank You for placing us in families, in the home, in our local churches, and in the wider Christian world. Help me to grasp every opportunity to care for those You place in my path - those that are younger who need guidance and encouragement, and those that are older and need loving care and support. Develop in me a godly attitude that fixes my hope on You alone, and I pray that I would develop the privileged habit of drawing close to You, day by day, in entreaties, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings, for You are my God and I love You, Lord. Heavenly Father, thank You for those that serve as church pastors, elders, and deacons. Uphold them with Your mighty hand and use them for Yourself in mighty ways. I pray that You would give each one the strength, guidance, and endurance they need, and that their service to You would edify the Body and glorify Your name. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.
