Praying through 1 Timothy 6:3

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the truths that it contains. As I study Scripture, I pray that You would give me wisdom to discern the purveyors of any false gospel. Keep me spiritually alert, so that I may quickly recognise anyone who advocates a different doctrine that does not agree with the written Word of God. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;”

Praying through 1 Timothy 6:4

Heavenly Father, I realise how easy it is to be led astray by false doctrine and ungodly teachings, when the Word of God is not the foundation upon which my faith is anchored. Keep me from false teachings. Protect me from the unfruitful works of darkness that delight in inconsequential disputes which lead to envy, strife, abusive language, and evil suspicions. Keep me focused on Jesus and founded on the Word of truth, so that I may live godly in Christ Jesus, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,”

Praying through 1 Timothy 6:6

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have passed from death to life. I am no longer in the power of the evil one, but have been brought out of the darkness of worldly values into the glorious light of Your eternal family. May my life, from this day forward, be one of godliness with contentment, for Your eternal praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.”

Praying through 1 Timothy 6:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching me the important principles of life in this passing, transient world. May I take this truth to heart, never forget that I was born with nothing, and remember how transient this life is. Thank You for Your amazing plan of redemption, and that by grace I have been given an eternal inheritance that will not fade away. I praise You that in Christ I have all I need for life and godliness, and that I been clothed with His own righteousness. Keep me from being tempted by the glittering prizes of this fleeting world system, and when I am tempted by material possessions, help me to recognise them as the gaudy trinkets of a world that is passing away. Thank You for my salvation and my new-life-in-Christ. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”

Praying through 1 Timothy 6:10

Heavenly Father, there are many things that can displace the Lord Jesus from His rightful position in my heart, and the love of money is one that I know can cause much distress and destruction when it is not correctly bridled under the authority of Christ. Help me to use the money that I have wisely, and help me to always regard money and my possessions as my servant and not my master. Take my life, together with all that I own for Your greater glory, and let it be consecrated to You, from this day forward and forevermore. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

Praying through 1 Timothy 6:12

Loving Father, I want to fight the good fight of faith, knowing that the victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil, has already been won by Christ. May I face the challenges of my life in Your strength and to Your glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

Praying through 1 Timothy 6:16

Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You for Your grace, Your goodness, and Your unapproachable wisdom in sending the Lord Jesus Christ to be our God and Saviour. Thank You that He alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light - and yet in Your grace and mercy, You sent Him to become one of us - so that by His death and Resurrection, our sins might be forgiven. Thank You that by faith in Him we might be clothed in His righteousness and made sons and daughters of the eternal God - to Whom be all honour and glory in the eternal dominion, AMEN.

“Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.”

Praying through 1 Timothy 6:17

Loving Father, I know that I live in the world and can be influenced by the false schemes and lying strategies of this present evil age which can cause me to take my eyes off You. Thank You for Your gracious provision, and may my reliance rest on You completely. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;”
