Praying through Acts 1:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for this momentous truth, that Christ has never ceased to work and to teach from the moment that He was born in Bethlehem as the eternal Son of God, clothed in a Body that God had prepared for Him. Thank You that I am part of His Body, the Church. Use me, I pray, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 1:3

Heavenly Father, thank You that without faith, it is impossible to please You. But thank You also, that You gave us so many infallible proofs surrounding the Person and work of Jesus. Help me to live by faith and not by sight, for I believe that all You have purposed and planned will come to fruition, in Your time, in Your way, and to Your praise and glory, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 1:4

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have not hidden the truth from us, but revealed it in Your Word. Thank You that I am part of that great cloud of Church-age believers who are witnesses to the truth of the glorious gospel of grace, which was started at Pentecost and which has spread to every nation and tribe, people, and language. Thank You that I have been born again by the power of the Holy Spirit and baptised into the Body of Christ, which had its beginning in that special room on that first day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was sent to be the permanent, indwelling Helper for all Christians. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.”

Praying through Acts 1:5

Loving Father, thank you for Your Word and for Your understanding. Thank You that I have been baptised into the Body of Christ by Your Holy Spirit and that He now lives in me forever. What a mystery that You should take up permanent residence in my weak and frail body, but I praise Your name for all Your goodness and loving kindness to me and to all Your children. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to indwell all who have trusted in Christ for salvation and for the promise that He will guide us into all truth. Help me to be a diligent student of Your Word, with a teachable spirit and a desire for the truth. Thank You that Your promises to Israel still stand and that one day they will all be fulfilled. Give their leaders wisdom in these difficult days, when all the people of the world seem to be turning their back on Your chosen people. Hasten the day when Your kingdom will at last be set up, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 1:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many promises and prophecies that You have graciously given to us in Your Word. Thank You for giving me such great understanding of the times in which I live and the blessed hope that is set before me. Keep me from attempting to look into the finer details of Your plans and purposes which You have not disclosed, but which are fixed by Your own sovereign authority. Prevent me from distorting the truth of the glorious gospel of God, in order to satisfy any fleshly curiosity. Help me to study the whole council of God so that I do not get hoodwinked by any extra-biblical teachings or unbiblical 'interpretation' of Your Word. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.”

Praying through Acts 1:9

Loving Father, thank You that Jesus told us that He will return to earth in like manner as the disciples saw Him go into heaven, on that wondrous Ascension morning. What a wonderful day that will be when Jesus comes in the clouds, back to earth to set up His Millennial Kingdom where He will rule and reign with righteousness and power for 1000 years. Thank You that as a believer in Him and part of the Bride of Christ, I will come with Him from heaven and rule and reign with Him on earth. Keep my eyes fixed on Jesus as I await the any day Rapture of the Church, when Jesus will take us up to heaven, to await this glorious return to earth. To Him be all honour, and glory, and strength, and majesty, for ever and ever, AMEN.

“And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.”

Praying through Acts 1:11

I praise Your name, Heavenly Father, that Jesus will return to earth to claim His rightful position as King of kings and Lord of lords at the end of the Great Tribulation. Thank you for the blessed hope I have, that I will partake in the Rapture of the Church before the Tribulation period begins when: "The dead in Christ shall rise first, then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will ever be with the Lord." May I live each day of my life in a way that is pleasing to You, a life that points others to the Lord Jesus as the soon coming Saviour of the world. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

Praying through Acts 1:14

Loving Father, help me to turn the eyes of my heart towards You in an attitude of persistent-prayer as did those first disciples of Christ, on the days leading up to Pentecost. Thank You that I already have the indwelling Spirit of God with me and living within me, to lead and guide in all the difficulties that I am facing. Look down on Your people and instil in the hearts of all of us, that dear desire to be united in spirit and devoted to prayer, until Jesus comes. Lord, I pray that in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, I will hand all my cares to You. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the truth that it contains. Thank You for the lessons I can learn from its pages and Your amazing plan of salvation. Thank You for sending Jesus to earth to become the sacrifice for my sin and the sin of the whole world, and I praise and glorify Your name that whosoever believes on Him will not perish but have everlasting life. And thank You for Paul and the other 12 apostles who, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, laid the foundation of our Christian faith through their inspired writings. Help me to study the Scriptures to show myself approved unto God, and may I build my life on this sure foundation. Let the love and goodness of Jesus be seen in me. This I ask in His name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of those 120 faithful disciples who obeyed Your Word and were given the privilege of being involved in the actual birth of the Body of Christ, which is the Church, on that special and unique day of Pentecost. I pray that like them, I may listen to Your commands and carry them out willingly, to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Help me to rightly divide the Word of Truth and give me a teachable spirit so that I may learn the wonderful truths in Your Word. Praying through Acts 2:20

Heavenly Father, thank You, that You told us the end from the beginning and that we have a greater understanding of Your eternal plan of redemption, both for those that are called by Your name and for those that reject Your precious offer of salvation. Thank You that by faith I have the indwelling Holy Spirit and am not appointed to wrath, knowing that Christ bore my sins in His body on the Cross so that by faith I have been forgiven of my sin, have passed from death to life, and am a member of Christ’s Body. Thank You for the book of Joel and that the full and final fulfilment of His amazing prophecy will be realised when Israel finally repents of their sin, recognises Christ as their Messiah, and calls on His name for salvation at the end of the Great Tribulation. Give me a heart for the unsaved and use me to tell forth the glories of Your wonderful name and amazing plan of redemption. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You that You sent Your only begotten Son to be born as a Man and to pay the price for our sin, and in Him, the curse of the law and the sting of death has been removed forever, for those who believe. Thank You that You sent Jesus to be born into this world and to live a perfect life and die a sacrificial death on my account. Thank You that I have been redeemed through Him and that my salvation does not rely on what I do but on what He did on the Cross, when He died for my sin. And thank You, Father, that through His Resurrection, He broke the power of sin and death in the lives of all who believe on Him. Praise Your Holy Name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, how I praise and bless Your holy name that the truth of Peter's first sermon is as relevant today, as it was when he spoke to the men of Israel, and declared that God raised Jesus from the dead, putting an end to the agony of sin for all who believe on His name. Thank You that the eternal, indestructible, immortal, immutable, deathless Son of God, became a perfect, innocent, sinless, member of the human race, so that He could willingly give His precious life as the ransom price for my sin and break the agony of death, and permanence of the grave for ALL who believe on Him. Praise His holy name, AMEN.

Thank You for the message of the Cross and the glorious gospel of Grace - that Christ died and is risen for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. And thank You that I have been placed into the Body of Christ, by faith. How I praise You that the day is coming when, once again, the nation of Israel will fulfil their call to preach the wonderful gospel of the Kingdom throughout the world - and Jesus will one day return to set up His Kingdom on earth, as King of kings and Lord of lords. Praying through Acts 3:22

Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing book of Acts and for insight into those early days of the Christian Church, when many in Israel had their eyes opened to the truth of the glorious gospel of Christ. How wonderful that they recognised Him as the Prophet greater than Moses and the King greater than David. Thank You that because Israel rejected the Lord in those early days of Christendom, the gospel has been opened to every person in every nation who will trust in Him for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Thank You for my salvation, and I pray for Jews around the world who have not yet had their eyes open to the truth. Open the understanding of all who are seeking the truth but have not yet believed on Christ for salvation. May Your name be glorified throughout all the earth, and may many come to faith in Jesus while there is still time. In Jesus' precious name, AMEN.

I pray that I may be prepared in season and out of season, make time to pray in accordance with Your will, and be careful to study the Word of God, so that I may mature in the faith and grow in the grace which You provide. But I also pray that I would be obedient to Your Word, listen to Your instruction, and obey Your commands, so that I may work the works of God and that You may be glorified in my life. Heavenly Father, thank You for the godly witness of Stephen, who was filled with the Holy Spirit and spent his life pointing people to Jesus as He preached the gospel among the people. Thank You for the many lessons we can learn from the bold witness of these early disciples who were ready to stand fast on the gospel of truth and die for their faith. Thank You that Stephen saw Jesus standing at the right hand of the Father and that, by grace through faith, we are seated with Him in heavenly places. Open my eyes, more and more, to see Jesus and to pray into Your will for my life. This I ask in His name, AMEN.

“And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.”

Praying through Acts 7:57

Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing testimony about Stephen, in the book of Acts, and the many lessons we can learn, both from his life and his death. I pray that like him, I may be steadfast in the work that You have given me to do. Help me to be faithful to preach the gospel truth and to stand firm on veracity of Your holy Word, without compromise. I pray that I may study to show myself approved under God, so that like Stephen, I may be faithful to the point of death. May I live my life and approach my death to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,”

Praying through Acts 7:59

Heavenly Father, how I thank You for the beautiful example of Stephen whose love for Jesus was displayed in the life he lived and the death he died. Help me to live a life that is pleasing in Your sight. Fill me anew with Your Holy Spirit day by day, and use me in whatever way You will, to Your eternal praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 7:60

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus and the example of Stephen, whose mind was stayed on Christ and who was able to exhibit the peace of God in the midst of a vicious and evil generation. Help me to speak the truth in love, to walk in spirit and truth, and to trust in Your never-failing goodness and grace every moment of the day. To You be all praise and glory, world without end. In Jesus' name I pray, and for His greater glory, AMEN.

“And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.”

Praying through Acts 8:37

Heavenly Father, what a wonderful truth that Christ died for me according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, rose again, and is seated on the right hand of the Father in heavenly glory. Thank You for the lovely book of Acts and the beautiful way that it shows how faithful men of Israel came to a deeper understanding that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and that by believing on His name they might have forgiveness of sins and be made members of Christ mystic Body - where there is neither Jew nor Gentile - but One New Man, IN Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

Praying through Acts 9:1

Heavenly Father, as I read through this thrilling episode, in the pre-salvation life of Paul, it is awesome to realise that he would be Your chosen vessel to bring the good news of the gospel of grace to the Gentiles. I thank You for arresting this man on that road to Damascus and commissioning him to preach the Word of life. Thank You for his epistles and the many truths that they contain. Help me to live as You would have me to live, and use me as a vessel to share the gospel of Christ with whomsoever You will. May I, like Paul, be bold to share this good news of salvation with others, knowing that the time is short and that soon and very soon, I will be taken to be with You in heaven. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 9:4

Loving Heavenly Father, open my eyes to see more of the Lord Jesus as did the apostle Paul. I pray that everything I say and do may be done for Your glory. Increase my knowledge and understanding of Your will for my life, and may I be careful not to exchange the truth of God's Word for man's developed traditions. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.

“And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?”

Praying through Acts 9:5

Heavenly Father, thank You for Saul of Tarsus who was a man who recognised Who Christ truly was. I pray that if I have any false perceptions of Who You are or if I am going down the path of religiosity or self-righteousness, that You would identify my faults and bring me to a more intimate understanding of Who You are. I pray that I may always worship You in spirit and in truth. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.”

Praying through Acts 9:16

Heavenly Father, I pray that I may know Christ and the power of His resurrected life working in me. I pray that You would give me the grace to participate in the fellowship of His suffering, knowing that in this world I will face trials and tribulations, dangers and maybe death, for His name's sake. Thank You that the sufferings of this world are but for a moment, and that by Your grace You have promised to perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish me in Christ Jesus my Saviour. To Him be all praise and glory, AMEN.

“For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.”

Praying through Acts 9:20

Heavenly Father, thank You for the ministry of the apostle Paul and the many truths You saw fit to reveal through his ministry. May I, like Paul, have a receptive heart and a deep desire to pray fervently, preach enthusiastically, and forever lift Jesus up. May I proclaim to all that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah, the Saviour of the whole world, the Son of Man, and Son of God Who takes away the sin of the world. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 9:31

Heavenly Father, it is my desire to do Your perfect will and submit my life to serving you in spirit and in truth. Forgive me for the times when I have tried to work the works of God in my own strength, instead of trusting Your Word and being guided by the Holy Spirit. I pray that you would build up Your Church in the fear of the Lord and with reverence for Your holy name. May all in Your Church know the comfort and strength of the Holy Spirit in their lives, as they grow in grace and mature in the faith for Your greater glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.”

Praying through Acts 10:34

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your people, Israel, through whom the Messiah was born, and thank You that there is no partiality with God and that all sinners may be saved by grace through faith in Christ. Thank You for my own salvation, and I pray that as we wait for the any day return of our Lord Jesus Christ in the clouds, that many more Jews and Gentiles, men and women, bond and free, old and young, from every race and nation, may come to faith in Christ for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 11:26

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am a Christian and part of the family of God. Thank You that Jesus died and rose again to save me from my sin. I pray that I may never be ashamed of the gospel of Christ or the name of Jesus but be prepared to live by faith and trust You in all things, no matter what difficult circumstances may arise. I pray that I would continue to assemble together with my brothers and sisters in Christ, and all the more as I see the day approaching. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, I pray that I may be quick to confess my own sin, eager to trust Your Word, and faithful to obey Your commands. May I abide in You and You in me, so that I may be a "man after Your own heart." This I ask in Jesus’ name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 13:38

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the truths that it contains. I pray that I may read its pages with wisdom and understanding. Help me to recognise the different audiences that are being addressed in different Bible passages. Keep me from reading into the Scriptures what I think it is saying, rather than understanding it in its correct context. Help me to grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus. In His name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 15:39

Heavenly Father, how it must grieve You when there are sharp divisions and splits in the Body of Christ. I pray that I would walk all my days in spirit and truth, in unity with my brethren. Lord, give me boldness to call out ungodly behaviour, and give me humility to accept criticism, when given in truth, in love, and to Your praise and glory. The enemy seeks to kill and destroy. I pray I will not give the enemy a foothold in my life, but as Paul states in Romans, "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 16:30

I praise You, O God, for this sublimely simple truth, and thank You that all I had to do to be saved, was to believe on the finished work of the Lord Jesus on Calvary. There are many people both in the world and in my own family, that do not believe. I pray that You will use me as your instrument today, to share the good news of the glorious gospel of Christ, in action, attitude, or prayer, so that others may come to a knowledge of this eternally wonderful truth and be saved. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 17:25

Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of the apostle Paul who spent his life teaching the good news so that men would hear the truth of the gospel of grace and be saved. Give me a heart for the lost and help me to meet the people with whom I come in contact, at their point of need. May I present the gospel to them clearly and without hesitation, with love and compassion. Raise up more men and women who will share the good news of the gospel in every nation and city so that many will hear and believe that Jesus died for their sins, that He rose again, and that by faith in Him, their sins are forgiven and eternal life is their portion. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are my God and my Saviour. Lord, without You I can do nothing, for in You I live, and move, and have my being. Use my life to glorify You, and thank You, Father, for sending the Lord Jesus to suffer and die so that I might live. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, what an amazing and long-suffering God You are to love humanity so much that You sent Christ to die for our sin and to rise the third day, so that all who believe in Him might not perish but have everlasting life. Thank You that You sought me out, opened my eyes to the truth, and saved me. But Lord, I know the day is fast approaching when the opportunity to be saved will be ended. Lord, You do not want any to perish, but all to come into a saving knowledge of Yourself. Use me to share the good news to others while there is still time. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that my sins were judged at the Cross and that there is now no condemnation for me because I am in Christ. But I realise that there are many that remain dead in their sins. I pray that You will use me to tell those that You place in my path, that Christ died for their sins, that He was buried, and rose again, so that all who believe on Him will not perish, but have everlasting life. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 19:2

Loving Father, how amazing it is to read how the fledgling Church grew and multiplied in those early days of Christianity. What a privilege it is to receive the indwelling Holy Spirit, through faith in Christ, and to know that I have received forgiveness of sin and life everlasting, by faith in Him. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in Your Word and teach me all that You would have me to learn. Thank You for the gift of the indwelling Spirit, Who has promised to guide us into all truth. Give me a teachable spirit, remove all traces of pride, and may I walk humbly before You, all the days of my life. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 20:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for this beautiful example of Your servants in the early Church, striving to meet together to remember Christ's death, passion, and glorious resurrection, despite the many difficulties and dangers they had to face. May we not neglect any opportunity to meet together on that first day of the week, nor miss any other opportunity, throughout the week, to worship Your holy name with our fellow believers. And may we all value the times we spend in breaking bread together in remembrance of Christ's sacrificial death, His glorious resurrection, and His ongoing ministry of mediation at Your right hand. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 20:21

Heavenly Father, thank You for my great salvation. Thank You that when I was deep in sin, I was convicted of my sinfulness and turned to Christ for forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Thank You that the gospel of grace is not complicated, but simple to understand. Keep the eyes of my heart on Jesus, I pray, lest I turn away from Him and dishonour Your holy name. I pray that when I allow myself to be enticed away from my focus on Christ that I would quickly repent, acknowledge my sin, and return to You for forgiveness, knowing that if I confess my fault to You - You are faithful to forgive and return me into fellowship. Thank You for showing me that repentance towards God is synonymous with faith in Christ. May I live and work for Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Give grace and wisdom to all who are called to be elders or overseers in local churches today, and protect all believers who have fallen prey to false teachers or who have been exposed to doctrines of demons. Protect the hearts and minds of all Your children, and guide each one of us into the way of truth. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, what an amazing, life-changing experience it was for Paul to be confronted on the road to Damascus by Jesus, Himself. Lord, I am so thankful that You can and will save anyone who humbly turns to you for forgiveness of sins and life everlasting. Thank You for this insight into Paul’s life, from being the most zealot of persecutors of the "followers of the Way" to being the greatest missionary for the gospel of grace. Use me, Lord, in whatever way You choose, to further Your gospel in my corner of the world. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Acts 25:12

Heavenly Father, what a fascinating section of Scripture in these chapters, where Paul is accused, put on various trials, sent to various High Priests, a King, and finally Caesar himself. During this time, he is left in chains in prison for years, survives a shipwreck and a snake bite. But Lord, You were always in control, and Your plans and purposes were being worked out in the life of this faithful servant, for the furtherance of the gospel and for Your praise and glory. When my life seems to always be going in the wrong direction, help me to faithfully trust in You, as Paul did, and I pray You would use me in the furtherance of the gospel for Your praise and glory. Heavenly Father, what an amazing testimony we have in Saul the persecutor who became Paul the humble apostle and was used by You for Your greater praise and glory. Thank You that You are ready and willing to use all who have been sanctified by faith in the death and Resurrection of Christ and that no sin is too great that cannot be forgiven, except the sin of unbelief. Just as You used Paul in the furtherance of Your kingdom, I pray that You would use me in whatever way You will. Take my life, I pray, and let it be consecrated to You, through time and into eternity. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.
