Praying through Judges 2:3

Heavenly Father, thank You for the history of Israel and the lessons that I can learn from the mistakes they made. Keep me from criticising them for their failure, but may their disobedience prompt me to listen to Your voice, obey Your commands, and in all things to do Your will, to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.”
(Judges 2:3)

Praying through Judges 3:4

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons that I can learn from the Old and New Testament Scriptures. Help me not to fraternise with the enemy of my soul, but to stand firm on the gospel of God. Thank You that in the power of the Spirit, I have all that I need for life and godliness and that Your grace is sufficient to enable me to come forth as pure gold, when tested by the fiery circumstances of life. Help me to keep my eyes on Jesus and not to be enticed by the seductive enemy of my soul whose aim is to shipwreck my faith and destroy my testimony. May I never be intimidated by the evil one, knowing that Christ has already won the victory and that greater is the indwelling Holy Spirit than he that is in the world. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.”

Praying through Judges 4:4

Heavenly Father, thank You for the great example of Deborah who was ready and willing to be used by You in the most difficult of circumstances. Thank You that You are a faithful God Who is long suffering towards Your people and ready to forgive the sins of those that call out to You in humble repentance, in times of trouble. Use me, I pray, in Your service, no matter what the cost may be, and keep me low at the Cross and broken before You. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.”

Praying through Judges 6:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons we can learn from this dark period of Israel's history, when Judges ruled and everyone did what was right in their own eyes. I pray that I may stand firm on the Word of truth and live in a way that honours Your name. May I proclaim the glorious and unchangeable gospel of grace to a world that is in need of Christ's saving work on the Cross, for the forgiveness of sins. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;”

Praying through Judges 6:23

Heavenly Father, how encouraging it is to read about the exploits of flawed people like Joshua, David, Esther, Paul, and Gideon, whom You graciously used to carry out Your plans and purposes for the furtherance of your kingdom in the ongoing history of the world. As you continue to bring Your plan of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord to its consummation, I pray that You would use me, in whatever way You choose. Help me to trust Your Word, more and more, and allow Your perfect peace to guard my heart, for Your greater praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.”

Praying through Judges 9:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lessons I can learn from Gideon, who was a faithful servant, and the speed with which pride entered the heart of his son, Abimelech. I see how quickly wickedness and apostasy can infiltrate a church or community when the rule of law is discarded and righteous judgement is removed from an individual, a family, a church, or a nation. Examine my heart, I pray, to see if there are any seeds of evil within. Purify my heart and help me grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus, day by day. This I ask in Jesus’ name, AMEN.

“And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, ye men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.”

Prayer For Women Planning An Abortion

Heavenly Father, we know that every good and perfect gift comes from You and that children are a special heritage from the Lord. But Father, we also know that the enemy of our soul seeks to kill and destroy all that is from You, and especially the lives of little babies in the womb.

And so we lift up all women who may be planning to have an abortion, or who have been deceived into thinking that this is a woman’s right, rather than a sin against their creator God, and we pray that You would create in their hearts a desire to do what is right and a realisation of the evil that surrounds the practice of abortion, that they themselves are considering

Bring into the life of each mother those that would give godly counsel and change the hearts of those who have already made a decision to go down the route of abortion.

Instil in the heart of each woman a deep love for the baby they are carrying, and we pray that many may be prompted to turn from their planned abortion and look to the Lord Jesus, for the grace do what is right. This we ask in Jesus' name,

Amen.

“For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no rasor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.”

Praying through Judges 13:18

Heavenly Father, You are beautiful beyond all description and too glorious for words. Thank You that You are my God and my Saviour. May I live my life to Your praise and glory and rejoice with grateful thanks for all Your works, especially for Christ's wonderful work on the Cross on my behalf. I am so thankful that by grace through faith in Him, I am clothed in His wonderful righteousness. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?”

Praying through Judges 16:28

Heavenly Father, as I study the tragic story of Samson, I am reminded that it is not by might, nor by power, but by Your Spirit that I should live, and work, and have my being. Thank You that these words of faith at the end of Samson’s life are recorded for us and that in his humility, brokenness, and blindness, he called to You in faith and that You heard and answered his prayer. May I call to You in faith in every aspect of my life, and thank You, Lord, that when I am faithless, You remain faithful. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.”
