Prayer for Jeremiah

Choose Chapter

Dear heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder in Jeremiah that you formed each one of us in the womb and thank You that You have scheduled every day of my life. Thank You for the example of Jeremiah the prophet, who was willing to suffer hardship, loneliness, pain and rejection for the furtherance of Your will and to pen portions of holy Scripture for our learning. I pray that from this day forward my life may be consecrated to You and that You would use me to fulfil Your will in my life, for Your greater praise and glory - this I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
(Jeremiah 1:5)

Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Jeremiah, who was used by You to tell both Jew and Gentile the message You gave Him to speak. Thank You that You can use anyone, who is ready and willing to hear and answer Your call. Thank You that You have promised that Your grace is sufficient – when in faith we respond to Your leading and guidance. Lord, here am I – send me, in Jesus name, AMEN.

“But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.”
(Jeremiah 1:7)

Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I have not listened to Your voice or responded to Your word, but followed my own way and been influenced by things that dishonour Your name. Keep me low at the cross and broken before You. Open my ears to hear Your voice and open my eyes so that I may follow in Your way. As I consider Israel's failure to listen to Your word and obey Your voice, help me to be attentive to all that You would teach me, and may I honour Your name in all I am and all I do, to Your praise and glory, This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

For Rain In Its Season

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are a God whose promises never fail and Whose word is righteous and true – and Father You have promised to send rain in their seasons so that the land will yield its increase and the trees will bear their fruit – but Lord the severe lack of rain has caused this land to become like a dust bowl and we are afraid that the labour of planting and harvesting will come to nothing if we do not receive rain very soon.

Lord Your word says “He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early and late rain, that you may gather in your grain and Your new wine and Your oil,” and You have promised, “rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying hearts with food and gladness.”

Lord we do not deserve Your grace but for the sake of Your holy name we ask that You would water the land and provide us with the rain that You promised in this season – for Jesus name sake,

“Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.”

Prayer For Guidance Today

Heavenly Father, I bow my knee before You in prayer and praise. Lead and guide me today in all You say and do. May I walk in spirit and truth today and be sensitive to Your gentle guidance.

Help me I pray to fix my eyes on the Lord Jesus, knowing that without Him I will quickly stray from the path that is best for me. Lord I believe that You have scheduled every day of my life and I do not want to stray from the path that You would have me take.

Help me to be faithful to You and to willing go along the path of Your choosing, knowing that it may conflict with my own desires and wishes. Develop in me a heart that delights to do Your will so that the longings of my heart are brought into line with Your plans and purposes and Your will for my life.

Let my eyes always be looking to You and keep me from the looking at the storms and difficulties of life, knowing that You are with me to lead and guide and to uphold to Your praise and glory.

Thank You that Jesus is the Way and the Truth and the Life and I desire to do only that which is pleasing in Your site, in His name I pray,

“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

Prayer Of Comfort for the Grieving

Lord Jesus I know that You are close to those that are broken-hearted and grieving in their soul and that You rescue those that are crushed in spirit. Draw near to Your many children who are facing times of sadness and loss and draw each one ever closer into Your precious arms of love and support.

Thank You that You are wonderfully good to all who wait for You and seek You, and I pray that those of my brothers and sisters in Christ who, – for whatever reason – are facing times of grief and hardship in their lives - that in Your grace and mercy You would draw very close to each one and gently carry them on Your shoulders, as a Shepherd carries a little lamb that has been torn by the briars.

Be close to all that are grieving today I pray, and flood their souls with hope – knowing that underneath are Your everlasting arms.

Give me a heart that is sensitive to those that are grieving, the wisdom to know when to speak words of comfort or when to keep silent. And Lord I also pray that You would use my life to be a channel of encouragement and hope, through whom the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ will flow into their hearts – to heal and help.

Thank You Lord that You are a God that answers prayers. Amen
When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me.”
(Jeremiah 8:18)

Heavenly Father, it is with a grieving heart that we come before You to plead for our national leaders, who have been so deceived by the satanic system that has relegated God to the realms of the irrelevant. And we pray for Christendom in particular, for the shocking way that we have allowed the world to so influence our thinking to the extent that we have lost sight of who we are in Christ. Look down on us with pity and mercy we pray and may You graciously pluck many from the brands before that great and terrible day of the Lord. This we ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?”

Heavenly Father, the lament of Jeremiah makes me realise that there is none that is good - not even one. But thank You that in Your grace You sent Jesus to be the propitiation for my sin - and not only for my sin, but for the sin of the whole world, so that whosoever believes on Him would not perish but have everlasting life. I pray that I may reflect the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living and be a living sacrifice of prayer and praise for Your greater glory - this I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Prayer For Fathers Mourning An Abortion

Loving Lord, we lift before You the fathers of aborted babies and the emotional trauma that can often affect them, knowing that they are often excluded from the decision to terminate a pregnancy.

We pray that You would be close to those who have been left emotionally distraught and grieving for the little life that they were denied.

We pray Your comfort upon all men who have been affected by abortion in this way and ask that You would give solace and succour to all who are grieving for the son or daughter that they will never see. This we ask in Jesus name,

“Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come:”
(Jeremiah 9:17)

Loving heavenly Father I worship and praise You for You alone are worthy of praise – for You alone are the living God of truth and love – righteousness and justice. Thank You that You are in control of the whole earth, despite the evil ploys of wicked men – and that one day You will right all wrongs. Thank You that Your desire is to save all those that trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Who is my God and my Saviour and in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, As I read through the life and times of Israel I realise that their initial murmurings and unbelief led them into the most terrible apostasy against Your holy name. Keep me grounded on the Word of Truth - lest I also am carried away by the error of lawlessness and fall from my own secure position in Christ. May I grow in grace, and in a knowledge of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to Who be all praise and glory, AMEN.

Father forgive me for the times when I have sought to walk independently of Your leading, which I recognise is a form of rebellion and an attempt to be independent from You. May I become increasingly willing to remain dependent upon You, for I desire that You guide my steps and lead me in the way I should go, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Prepare Our Hearts In This Time Of Advent

Heavenly Father thank You for the opportunity for us to once again examine our hearts during this lovely time of Advent, and the faith in Christ Jesus that we confess.

Keep our hearts aglow with love for Jesus and help to wonder more and more about amazing the grace that You have shown towards sinful man, in sending Your only begotten Son to come to earth, as a tiny human baby - so that He could bear the punishment for the sins of the whole world on His holy shoulders.

It never ceases to amaze us that Christ Jesus should set aside His heavenly glory and be conceived of the Holy Spirit by the virgin Mary, birthed into the human family as the promised Seed of the woman and be worshipped as a tiny baby in a humble stable at Bethlehem, by simple shepherds and singing angels alike.

It was Love incarnate that visited the earth so many years ago and that same love that saved us from our sins and came to dwell within the hearts of all that trust in Jesus as Saviour. Heavenly Father, accept our grateful sacrifice of praise – and may we come to know You more and love You better in the days that lie ahead, in Jesus name we pray,

“But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.”

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your written Word and for Jesus Christ, the living Word of God. I pray that Your Word would become for me a joy.. and the delight of my heart for I have been called by Your name, and saved by the blood of the Lamb. Help me to hold fast that which is good and do only those things that are pleasing in Your sight - in Jesus name I pray, AMEN

Prayer To Overcome Today’s Difficulties

Father God, I know that the life-path I am treading is fraught with difficulties and problems but Lord I trust You to lead and guide me through the maze of life, because You have promised to be with me to lead and to guide – to strengthen and to help.

Let me never lose sight of who I am in Christ and help me to trust You in all things, knowing that I am Your child and that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.

Thank You that You are my Shepherd Who has promised to lead and to guide.. to protect and to uphold. Thank You that you are my Defence and my Defender and that You have promised to be my ever-present help in those times of unexpected difficulties and trials.

Thank You Lord, that You remain faithful and dependable, even when I stray from the path that You have graciously laid out for me. May I never forget that You are my firm Anchor and the steady Rock upon which I stand, and that no difficulty in life is to great that You cannot overcome – thank You in Jesus name,

“And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.”

For God’s Strength In Troubled Times

Thank You Lord that You are my refuge and my strength in hard times and an ever present helper in times of trouble. Help me to cling to You and this truth from the Bible, that You keep bringing to my mind.

I know that You are the only, all-powerful God and that there is nothing that is too difficult in my life for You to deal with – nor is there any obstacle in my path that is so insurmountable that I cannot cross – knowing that You are by my side.

Give me I pray Your strength to face today’s hard and troubled times with the confidence of knowing that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. Thank YOU that my strength comes from You and that Your grace is sufficient for all the tasks and duties that will cross my daily path – not only for today but for the rest of my journey through life.

Thank YOU Father that Your grace is sufficient – help me to meditate on this truth every day,

“O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.”

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are a God Who never changes. Thank You that Your love and grace is the same yesterday, today and forever. Forgive me for the times that I have wandered far away from You, and drunk from the broken cisterns of this world. Morning Prayer From a Grandmother

Dear Lord Jesus, I do thank You for my lovely life and for the wonderful way that You have promised to be with me each day. Thank You for bringing me safely through another night and for the gift of a new and wonderful day - great is Your faithfulness….

Lord I pray that as I prepare to get out of bed and get washed and dressed that You would strengthen my legs and be my support as I go about my daily duties. Give me I pray the strength to busy myself in my little kitchen and keep me from any dangers that may arise.

Be with me I pray as I go to and from the shops and I ask that in Your kindness You would put those people in my path Whom You choose - and help me to be a worthy witness of Your grace and kindness to all I meet – not only in what I say but in the way that I think and act.

Thank You for my wonderful children and for each of their lives and thank You especially Lord for the precious grandchildren that You have placed in my life and for granting me the joy of seeing them start to grow up and develop into the little characters that have so blessed my soul. Lord endue them with Your heavenly grace, enrich them with a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus and may each one grow in grace and in a knowledge of their Saviour and finally Lord bring each one home to rest securely in Your everlasting arms.

Lord I am not getting any younger but I trust You to carry me on eagles wings and give me a song of praise in my heart throughout the day. May I rest in Your love and abide in Your grace until You choose to take me to be with Yourself – for my times are in Your hands. Thank You Lord – in Jesus name I pray,

“Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.”

Prayers For Those That Are In Need

Dear God, I know that it is Your will to help those that are afflicted - to support the weak; to provide for the widows and orphans – and to help those that are in need.

Use my hands to be of service to those in need and use my voice to speak words of healing and encouragement to those that are afflicted and in distress.

Prayer for Personal Accountability

Lord Jesus it says in Your Word, examine Yourself to see it you are in the faith – Lord I realise that this is not talking to unbelievers but to all of us who are Your children, in Christ Jesus. Lord help me to examine myself, and all that I am, and all that I am learning from You and Your word, so that I truly may say with conviction :-I know in Whom I have believed and am walking in the path on which He has placed me.

Keep me also from critical thoughts of others, and prevent me Lord, from having a spirit of control – or by pretending to hold others accountable to You when the beam in my own eye is greater than the speck that is in my brothers’ eyes.

Keep me humble before Your throng of grace and may I walk the way of the cross day be day - with the Spirit as my teacher and the Word of God washing me clean. Thank You for all my Christian friends and brothers and keep us all walking close to You in the days that lie ahead, in Jesus name I pray,

Refreshment for Body, Soul and Spirit

Dear Lord Jesus, You were the One who healed all manner of sickness and diseases when You walked on the shores of Galilee.

I come to You today to ask for Your healing touch in every area of my life, for I am weary in body, mind and spirit. My health is failing and I am not even sure what is wrong with me – except that I need Your touch on my life more that I have ever needed before. Strengthen me in spirit,

I pray that You renew my heart with Your healing touch and refresh me in body, soul and spirit - Thanks You Jesus
“For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.”

Heavenly Father, what a great and awesome God You are. Your faithfulness to Your people Israel, and the promises You have given them are beyond our understanding. Thank You that Jesus came to earth as the Messiah of Israel and Saviour of the gentile world.. and that through faith in Him, I have become Your child. Remove the blinkers from the eyes of Your chosen people, through Whom was born my own, precious Saviour, Who died for my sins and rose again - so that I too may rise into life immortal. We look forward to the day when Your New Covenant with the united kingdoms of Israel and Judah will be fully and finally ratified - when the earth will be subjected to Christ's kingdom of righteousness and justice. Thank You in Jesus name AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are a good and faithful God, Whose word stand fast for ever and ever. Thank You that all Your promises to both Israel and the Church remain "YES" and "AMEN" in Christ Jesus my Lord. Thank You that You are a listening God Who hears the calls and cries of Your people and thank You for the many precious promises that will never fail - because You are faithful and true to Your word. It is wonderful to know that faithful men of God, like Jeremiah, were prepared to endure mocking; loneliness; imprisonment and rejection so we might have the holy Scriptures which guide us into all truth - and thank You that Jesus came to be our substitute for sin and endure pain and suffering of the cross, so that we might live and reign with Him forever - praise Your holy name. AMEN.

Prayers For Good Health

Prayer of Thankfulness For Health And Strength Loving Father,

I just want to thanks You for the wonderful way that You have kept me in such good health, for so many years, and protected me from so many troublesome diseases.

You have lifted me up when I have been down; supported me through times of weakness and You have also healed me, when I have succumbed to a bed of sickness.

Keep me I pray in good health and strength - let me run and not grow weary and may I be used as a comfort and support to those that are not so fortunate as I.

“Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.”

Dear Father, Thank You for directing our path every step of the way, as we follow Your leading and direction. Guide us along a straight path today and direct our goings-out and our coming-in. Thank You that I have access to the throne of grace every moment of the day, and pray that my prayers and intercessions for myself... and others, may be offered up in spirit and in truth. May I listen to Your guiding voice in all things and be able to pray with boldness and confidence, THY will, not mine be done, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“That the LORD thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do.”

Grief Due To Loss Of A Loved One

Loving Father, I am finding it so hard to even get up out of bed to start the day, knowing that I have to face it alone and without the one I love so dearly – I know that without Your grace and sufficiency I could never get through the day – but I thank You that You have promised to be with me and to provide me with Your strength for the day as well as bright hope for tomorrow.

I can’t imagine tomorrow being anything but a day filled with pain – as I do not have my loved one beside me, but I ask that in Your grace You will give me the strength to get through today, step by step - knowing that You are there to carry me, even when my heart seems to fail from the grief and pain that I am going through.

Thank You that You have promised to carry our pain and thank You that Your grace is sufficient for every eventuality in our lives. Give me the strength and to cope with the loneliness I feel and help me to move forward in my life-plans, knowing that You are with me, to support and strengthen.

Give me hope for tomorrow – for my hope and my trust is in You, Lord. Hold me close I pray and thank You for always being with me and the great comfort that I have in knowing You, as my own dear Saviour and friend.
“Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus and the wonderful way that You have led Your people Israel down through the years. Thank You that You never forgot the covenant that You made with Your people. We pray for the many in Israel, that are lost sheep, without a Shepherd. And we pray that many would come to faith in Jesus Christ, as their Lord and King. Thank You that Your Word is true and Your promises never fail.. and we praise You, that You are the same yesterday, today and forever. Thank You in Jesus name, AMEN.

“My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.”
