Praying through Jeremiah 17:5

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are a God Who never changes. Thank You that Your love and grace is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Forgive me for the times that I have wandered far away from You and drunk from the broken cisterns of this world. May I never place my trust in man nor put my confidence in my own abilities by depending works of the flesh or trusting in my own strength. Let me not be enticed from Your Word of truth and help me to keep the eyes of my heart and the meditation of my mind on the Lord Jesus, for He alone is worthy. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”
(Jeremiah 17:5)

Praying through Jeremiah 17:7

Loving Father, I realise more and more, the rich blessings that are received by those who trust in Your Word and place their eternal hope in You. Help me to live by faith and not by sight, so that You become increasingly the focus of my heart and joy of my life. Develop in me that child-like trust in You that pleases Your Father-heart of love. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.”

Praying through Jeremiah 17:8

Heavenly Father, thank You that in the midst of all life’s difficulties and problems, You are my Rock and my Redeemer, my Source and my Supply. Thank You that in Christ, I have all I need to stand firm in this evil day. Christ is my health, my strength, and the stronghold of my life. I pray that no matter what difficulties arise, that I would draw all my hope and strength from Him. I pray that I would live a life that honours You and that I would bear much fruit to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.”
(Jeremiah 17:8)

Praying through Jeremiah 17:9

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am Your child and have been saved by grace through faith in Christ. Nonetheless, it is uncomfortable to realise that, like all men, my heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. I pray that You would search my heart, my motives, my conscious thoughts, and even my unconscious imaginings, to see if there is anything in me that needs to be rooted out. Purify my heart, I pray. Lord, I am so aware that these days, we are encouraged to follow the desires of our own hearts. May the deep desire of my heart be to follow only You and Your leading, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

Praying through Jeremiah 17:10

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are a faithful God to those that put their trust in You. Thank You for the prophecy of Jeremiah and for the knowledge that You are a righteous God Who will not only reward those who trust in You, but will punish the wicked who reject Your long-suffering mercy and gracious offer of salvation. Search my heart, I pray, and help me to abide in Christ, day by day, so that I may be like a tree that blossoms and buds and brings forth much fruit, for Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.”

Praying through Jeremiah 17:14

Heavenly Father, thank You for the historical record of Israel's history, which has so much to teach us of your plans and purposes for mankind and Your goodness and grace toward us. May I learn from their mistakes and be guided into godly living. Thank You that You can be trusted to fulfil Your promises to Your people and to correct us when we go astray. I pray that I would be faithful in the work You have given for me to do, and thank You that in You is healing, wholeness, hope, and joy, for You are my God and are worthy of all praise, AMEN.

“Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”
