Prayer for Matthew

Praying through Matthew 1:1

Heavenly Father, as I read Your Word and consider the truths that it contains, I see that Your ways are so much greater than man can imagine. You gave Your Son to be born as Son of Man - just as the prophets of old foretold. Thank You that Your plans and purposes, which were made in eternity past, can never be changed and that one day Jesus is returning as King of kings, to sit on the throne of David, where He will reign in righteousness, and rule in justice. Thank You in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 1:18

Heavenly Father, thank You that You loved us so much, that You sent Your only begotten Son to be born of a virgin, to become our Saviour by means of His vicarious death and Resurrection. He died for me and rose again so that I could have His resurrected life in me. What a Saviour! Thank You for the Bible and for the truth that it contains. May I draw closer to You, day by day, and grow in grace and in a knowledge of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.”

Praying through Matthew 1:21

Thank You, Father, for the gift of Your Son and the unfolding of Your eternal plan of salvation. Your perfect plan started as a tiny seed in the woman, travelling through time until He was born as a little baby in Bethlehem, and given the wonderful name of Jesus by His earthy guardian. He truly is my salvation. Thank You for His life, His example and His redeeming work on Calvary’s cross. May the name of Jesus be lifted high today. In His name I pray, AMEN.

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

Praying through Matthew 1:22

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Gospel of Matthew and the beautiful way that he links the truth of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, with the many Old Testament prophecies that foretold of His life and ministry, His sacrificial death, and glorious Resurrection. Thank You for telling us the end from the beginning so that we might know the truth and be set free from slavery to sin, by faith in Him. Give me a greater understanding of Your Word and more insight into the plan of redemption which threads its way throughout the Old and New Testaments. Help me to grow in grace and in a knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Loving Heavenly Father, I pray that I may see you with fresh eyes as I read the precious story of Christ's birth. May I love you with a deeper love as my understanding of You grows. Thank You that You are living in me and that one day I will see You face to face and know as I am known. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 2:6

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of God and the truths that it contains. Thank You for this Gospel of Matthew and the wonderful way that he uses the prophetic Scriptures to demonstrate that Christ, Who is declared the eternal Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, is the Son of Man according to the flesh - through Whom all the families of the earth may be blessed by faith in His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection. To Him be all praise and glory, honour and might, majesty, dominion and power, for ever and ever. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 2:11

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lovely picture of these wise men, seeking Jesus and finding Him to be the heavenly Prophet, Priest, and King, about Whom the Scriptures wrote. Thank You that I have also been guided to worship at His feet. Thank You for the sacrifice of His perfect life in payment for my sins. I do not have wonderful gifts such as gold, frankincense, and myrrh, with which to honour Him. But it is with humility of heart and grateful thanks that I offer myself as a living sacrifice, fully devoted to my Saviour. I pray that I will have an opportunity to bear the good news of salvation to others, to the praise of my God and Saviour. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”

Praying through Matthew 3:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Gospel of Matthew and the amazing way it gives us an understanding into the life and times of Jesus during His first advent. Thank You for the ministry and message of John the Baptist, who was so faithful to his calling as forerunner and herald to the King of kings and Lord of lords. John's simple yet profound message to: "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand," was sadly rejected by the majority of Israel. But praise Your name that the day is coming when Christ will return to earth to set up His kingdom of heaven on earth and Israel will repent and finally recognise Jesus as their Messiah and King. Praise Your holy name, AMEN.

“And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Praying through Matthew 3:11

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been baptised into Your Body and will never face the wrath of God and the judgement of fire. I pray that my life would be a light to the unsaved - for the glory to God and that You would look down in mercy on those who have not yet trusted in Jesus for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:”

Praying through Matthew 3:15

Heavenly Father, thank You that the Lord Jesus fulfilled all righteousness on my behalf so that I have been set free from the bondage of sin, slavery to Satan, and the final enemy - death. Thank You that Jesus is my holy High Priest, Who is ever living to make intercession for me. Thank You that You identified with my sin so that I might be identified with Your righteousness. And thank You, Father, that all the waves and billows of God's wrath were poured out on Christ on my account so that all righteousness might be fulfilled on my behalf by the Lord Jesus, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.”

Oh Father, I am staggered by Your grace and glory that Christ should do all this for me. I am not worthy to pick up the crumbs under Your table, and yet in Your goodness and grace, Christ lived and died so that I too might die to the old life and live my new life in Him forever. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

May I keep the eyes of my heart on Christ’s earthly example and resist the temptation to act independently of You. Help me to depend on You in every eventuality of life, knowing that this is Your will for me and brings honour to Your name. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

For America As A Nation Who Has Lost Its Way

Loving Lord, I come to You to place the once great nation of United States of America at Your feet, knowing that our great country and it's constitution was made for a moral and religious people and is wholly inadequate for any other form of government, and yet we have strayed so far from the principles and practices of our great founders, who drew up our constitution based on Your Word.

But Lord, although this was once the land of the brave and the home of the free, sadly there is so much that is wrong with our country that I fear for its future. Lord, as a people we have walked away from You and discredited Your holy name by the way that we have conducted ourselves over the past few years and there is no health in our land.

Look down in pity on our people and our land, and protect us from those that seem determined on destroying our nation. Send Your Spirit I pray, through the land of America, and touch the hearts of all those that are called by Your name to plead on behalf our people. Convict those that are damaging our infrastructure and as a nation may we turn away from our wicked ways and return You to Your rightful position, in integrity and truth.

I ask this in Jesus' name,

Amen.

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”

Praying through Matthew 5:14

God of light, and life, and peace, I bring before You a world that is ravaged by war and suffering, disaster and distress, through the actions and attitudes of selfish men. I pray that the light of Christ would illuminate a dark world that has chosen to turn its back on the One Who is the true Light of the world. Use me in the corner of the world where You have placed me, to bring the light, life, and love of Christ, to a hurting world. Keep me ever mindful that without You I can do nothing, but in the strength and power of Your Holy Spirit, I am enabled to act as Your hands, Your feet, and Your heart, to those in need. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, what a comfort to me that not only are You in charge of the big picture of life, but also, not one tiny detail escapes Your notice. Thank You that everything You have written in Your Word will come to pass, just as You have said. As I read Your plan of redemption woven through all the pages of Scripture and come to understand what Christ did for me when He came to earth to die on the Cross for my sins and rose again the third day, the more I am filled with awe and wonder at the goodness and greatness of Your plans and purposes for this fallen race of man. How I praise and thank You for Your goodness and grace toward us. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Prayer For Alcoholic Addiction Recovery

Heavenly Father, I confess that I have not only hurt other people, and especially those that are close to me, but I have offended You and ignored some of the warnings that I believe were directly or indirectly sent from You. Help me I pray to break free of this ungodly addiction and get on the road to recovery.

Forgive me Lord, for I have sinned against You and ignored the clear teaching of Your Word to live soberly, righteously and in the fear of the Lord and to walk circumspectly before You, as a child of the light. But I come to You in humble submission to ask You to help me to get on the road to addiction recovery, for I know that You have promised to lift-up all who come to You out of the miry pit, even when we have foolishly dug it for ourselves.

Help me be set free from alcohol, putting on the breastplate of righteousness, and for the helmet of salvation in Christ, in Whose name I pray,

Amen.

“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.”

Loving Father, I know that too often a lack of faith in Your promises of provision, have caused me to seek after the things of this world by myself. I confess this is a lack of faith in You. From now on, may I seek Your kingdom and righteousness first, knowing that You are my great Provider. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

To Be Equipped To Face The Future Alone

Dear Lord Jesus, I am filled with fear and anxiety as I have been left completely alone. I have no one in the world to care for me, no one who is really interested in me, and I am so frightened to have to face the future all on my own.

I do believe in Jesus as my Saviour, and I want to draw closer to You. I know from all that I learned as a child that my hope is in You alone. Lord, I have found a scripture in the book of Psalms that says that You put the lonely in families, and I find that such a comfort.

Please Lord, will You do that for me? Lord, if this is Your will for me, would You put me into a family and bring some lovely people that will come alongside me and be a family to me – but in any event, I pray that You would equip me to live my life and face the future in such a way that is honouring to You.

Thank You, Lord, that You really do care for me. I pray that You may even use me to be a comfort to others who may also facing a future alone. In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen.

“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

Praying through Matthew 7:1

Heavenly Father, keep me, I pray, from hypocritical thoughts and unrighteous judgement of others. But please give me the wisdom and discernment I need to judge between that which is good and that which is evil. Keep me walking humbly before You, and help me to always consider the needs of others before my own. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Judge not, that ye be not judged.”

Praying through Matthew 7:7

Loving Father, thank You for breaking down the barrier between God and man and permitting me to come into Your holy presence in prayer, for mercy to find help in time of need. Help me to pray and keep on praying in spirit and in truth. Help me to pray purposefully and persistently, and in accordance with Your will... and may I learn to ask in faith, to seek You with all my heart, and to knock with patient endurance so that I may live according to Your will. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 7:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for laying out so clearly the principles and practices that should govern our lives as we die to self and live for God. Thank You for Your loving promise that You will answer everyone who asks, seeks, and knocks. Lord, at times I have tried to do things in my own strength, only to fail. Forgive me, Lord. Give me an understanding heart and the desire to live, work, and pray, in a manner that honours Your holy name. I praise and thank You that You are my sole Provider. May I pray according to Your will, seeking to grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus, and submitting to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 7:11

Lord, how privileged I am that You are my Heavenly Father Who loves each one of Your children with an everlasting love and provides all we need, according to Your riches in glory. Thank You that You loved me enough to send Jesus to die for my sins, and that You delight to give good gifts to Your children. Lord, I know too often I have tried to provide for my own needs without asking You, or I have lost faith and stopped seeking You when an answer is delayed. I realise how this must sadden Your heart. Thank You that You have provided over and above all that I could ask or think, not only in this world but in the ages to come. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”

Praying through Matthew 7:13

Heavenly Father, thank You that in Christ, I have been saved by grace and have an eternal inheritance kept for me in heaven. I pray that I may die daily to all that is of self and live every day of my life for Christ. Help me to choose to enter the narrow gate of disciplined, dedicated discipleship, which leads to an abundant life here on earth. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 7:14

Heavenly Father, thank You that in Your grace, You brought me to an understanding that the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life. Thank You that by faith in Christ, I have found the Way to life and discovered Him to be the truth of the glorious gospel of grace. I pray that You would have pity on those that remain dead in their sin. Have mercy on those who through pride and their own self-sufficiency, have not yet found the narrow way that leads to life. Use me I pray, in whatever way You choose, to speak the truth in love to those who are on the broad way to destruction, and bring many into Your kingdom this day, I pray. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 7:21

Heavenly Father, thank You for the warnings of false prophets and teachers in your Word. I pray that you would guard the hearts and minds of all your children and protect them from false prophets and ungodly teachers who seek to devour the flock. Help us all to identify the fruit of those in positions of leadership in the Church who come to us in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. Lord, give us discernment to know the truth and reject those who do not honour Your will. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 8:3

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is the Friend of sinners, the Healer of the sick, and the Saviour of the world. Thank You that I have been redeemed from the slave-market of sin and received health and healing, like the leper who worshipped at Christ's feet and was cleansed by the gracious touch of His hand. Thank You that You sent Jesus to preach the gospel to the poor, proclaim release to the captives, give recovery of sight to the blind, free the oppressed, and proclaim the favourable year of the Lord. Thank You for His healing touch on my life. In His name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful example of the centurion's faith, who thrilled the Lord Jesus with His demonstration of trust and hope in His Word. Help me to fine-tune my faith in You by standing firmly on Your unchanging and unchangeable promises, even when circumstances appear to contradict Your Word. I pray that my faith would grow and mature, and that nothing would cause me to doubt You. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 9:2

Heavenly Father, how much there is to learn from the heart-warming story of the paralytic, whose friends brought him to Jesus and whose faith was rewarded with the healing of their friend's paralysed body. Thank You, also, for this amazing demonstration of Christ's power over sin, sickness, disease, and death. Thank You that in Him is health, wholeness, and forgiveness of sins. Thank You that my sins are forgiven, simply by grace through faith in the Person and Work of Christ Jesus, my Lord. I pray that I would demonstrate a similar trust in You that was shown by these men when they brought their friend to Jesus. Increase my courage when faith wears thin, and may I never doubt Your ability to bring life and liberty to all who trust in You. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 10:5

Heavenly Father, thank You for the four Gospels and the beautiful truth that Jesus is the Messiah of Israel and their coming King. Thank You that even though Israel rejected Jesus and crucified their King, You have not finished with Your chosen people. Thank You that in Your grace, You chose me and others who would believe on Jesus' name and trust Him as Saviour, to witness to a lost world, and have entrusted us to be a light to lost sinners, and ministers of the New and better Covenant, in Christ's blood. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 10:26

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many things we can learn from the commission Christ gave to His apostles, when He sent them to preach the good news of the kingdom to Israel and empowered them with strength from on high. Thank You that in Christ, we have all we need for life and godliness, through the power of the indwelling Spirit of Christ. I praise You that in this world of sin and deception, there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed and nothing that is hidden that will not be known and judged appropriately by You. Thank You for Your love towards all Your people of faith and help me to live and work for Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 10:34

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to us. I know that through His death, I was made right with You. I recognise that His coming was not to bring peace in the world, but to bring a sword that is able to divide the world between those who will accept His love and those who will reject it. Give me courage to stand for the truth of Your Word even in the face of opposition. Help me to trust in You even when it means going against the world. As I face these conflicts, fill me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Praying through Matthew 11:14

Heavenly Father, thank You that You tell us the end from the beginning. Your Word is clear for all who have eyes to see and a heart that believes on Christ for forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Thank You for the prophetic writings of Old Testament prophets like Malachi, who point us to Christ and record history before it happens. Thank You, also, for the New Testament apostles and prophets who have opened up our understanding of past events in Israel’s history and shown how everything points to Jesus, the Lamb of God and Lion of the tribe of Judah. Give me an understanding heart and a desire to seek the truth of Your Word, for Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 12:27

Heavenly Father, what a sobering teaching to see how legalism and pride stifled the hearts of the Scribes and Pharisees. How thought-provoking it is to realise that jealously and self-conceit can take us far away from Jesus and prevent us from giving Him the honour He deserves. Give me a teachable spirit and keep me from developing biased opinions that conflict with Your Word. Prevent pride and legalism from blinding my eyes to the goodness of God. Cleanse my heart, I pray, so that I speak and act wisely. Forgive me for any idle words I have uttered indiscreetly, and may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be righteous before Your throne. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Prayer For Corporate Accountability

Loving Lord and Heavenly Father, I do thank You for the family of Christ into which You have placed me and the loving fellowship that we enjoy together. As we study Your Word and seek to encourage each other in our little gatherings, I pray that the Word of Christ would dwell in us richly.

Help each of us to be willing to learn and also recognise the need to be accountable to each other as well as to You, as we seek to grow in grace corporately. Bless those that You have seen fit to equip each of us, and I pray that those who have been graced with the gift of teacher may motivate us all to be willing learners of You.

Lord, I know that one day I will stand before Your Bema judgement seat and I long to hear You say, “well done good and faithful servant.” I pray that in the days that I have ahead, I would draw close to You, and to my brothers and sisters in Christ, as together, we await that glorious day when we stand in Your presence, face to face with You.

Thank You, in Jesus' name,

Amen.

Praying through Matthew 12:40

Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You for the sign of Jonah, which not only prefigured the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, but has given all who believe on the Him a blessed hope - knowing that because He rose to life immortal, we too will rise to newness of life. Heavenly Father, I praise and thank You for the truth of Your Word, and that Christ set aside the glory of His majesty to be born into this world, to live a perfect life, and to die a sacrificial death, so that by faith in Him I might be saved. I stand in awe and wonder that Christ should strip Himself of His heavenly glory for love of me. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 17:11

Heavenly Father, I stand in awe of Your amazing plan of redemption. Thank You, that I am saved by grace through faith in Jesus, the Jewish Messiah. Thank You that like Moses, Elijah, Peter, James and John on the Mount of Transfiguration, I have been granted a peep into the coming kingdom of Christ. Thank You, that You loved me so much that You sent Jesus to be my Saviour, and that through Him all the families of the earth are blessed. Thank You, that in Christ, I have already been granted a place in Your kingdom, and I pray that the hearts of many of Your people will be turned back to faith in God and hope in Jesus, their Messiah-King, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.”

Praying through Matthew 17:12

Thank You, Father, for the ministry of men like Elijah and John the Baptist, who were not ashamed of the gospel of God, for it has the power of God unto salvation to ALL who believe. Thank You for the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, Who came to Israel as their Messiah and King and was ready and willing to be despised, rejected, falsely accused, and cruelly crucified on the Cross, so that all who believe on His name, would not perish but have everlasting life. Thank You for Your amazing plan of redemption, and use me in whatever way You will, to forward Your perfect redemptive plan. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.”

Praying through Matthew 17:20

Heavenly Father, I come to You in faith, knowing that You must be the only object of my faith and that without You I can do nothing. I put my trust in You, Lord, knowing that You are faithful and will never disappoint me. Help me look to Jesus, moment by moment, and to anchor my faith in Him Who is the Living Word, knowing that without Him I can do nothing... and yet in Christ I can do all things. Thank You, Father, that it is not the amount of faith that is important in Your sight, but the One in Whom I place my faith. Thank You for Your goodness, grace, and unfailing love. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”

Heavenly Father, may the words of Christ dwell in me richly, and help me to speak the truth in love in every situation that I may face. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be always acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Loving Father, how glorious to know that the Lord Jesus is my living Head. May He lead and guide all my intercessions and prayers, my conversation, and communion with others, both individually or corporately. As I gather together with other brothers and sisters to pray, and praise, and worship You, I thank You that Christ is the Head in our midst. May all I say and do be honouring to You. Loving Father, how I long to be more child-like in my attitude, with the sort of faith that trusts You like a child, and whose heart is ever open towards You. Teach me, Lord, to live in purity of heart and gentleness of spirit, so that Jesus may be reflected through me, to those with whom I come in contact today. This I ask in His name and for His glory, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 20:19

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, and that You have told us the end from the beginning. O Lord, what love You had for that little band of disciples as You told them what would happen to You. And how little they understood at that time. Lord, open my eyes and my understanding to You. May I spend the rest of my life and on into eternity, thanking You and praising You for Your great love for me, when You were mocked, and flogged, and crucified. And praise Your name, O Lord, that the grave could not hold You and You rose to life on the third day, just as You said. Hallelujah! Praise my Saviour! AMEN.

Loving Lord, I praise and thank You for Jesus, my Mighty Saviour and Servant King. Lord, today I pour out my life as an offering to You. Thank You that Jesus gave His life as a ransom for me and for all who would believe in His name. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Bible, the wonderful truths it contains, and the many lessons that we can learn from its pages if we only have a teachable spirit and a desire to know You more. Open my eyes to the lessons You would teach me, and I pray that I would recognise my need of You and be humble enough to acknowledge my need and ask for Your mercy, grace, and help. Help me not to miss any opportunity to learn of You or to help others to come to a deeper knowledge of Jesus. Thank You that He was willing to go to the Cross on my account, and thank You that there is no one who is outside Your gracious offer of salvation. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons that I can learn from the Scriptures. Keep me from the sort of religious superiority and spiritual myopia that was demonstrated by the religious leaders whose pride and practice actually prevented them from seeing Jesus. Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the lessons You are teaching me through it. Thank You that Your Word is true and that You have not finished with Your people, Israel. Thank You that because of Israel’s unbelief, I have become a citizen of heaven and joint heir with Christ. I pray for the day when Your people cry out in repentance for salvation. I will rejoice with them when the kingdom that was promised to Abraham, Isaac, Israel, and David, is fully and finally realised. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that in Your grace, I have been given an opportunity to come into Your kingdom and eat of the spiritual food from heaven and drink of the waters of life that only come by faith in Christ. I am not worthy to gather up the crumbs under Your table, and yet in Your grace You have lifted me out of the miry clay, set my feet on the Rock of my salvation, and clothed me in the robe of Christ's own righteousness. Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts. I do not want to live my life as the hypocritical Pharisees did, appearing righteous and good on the outside, but on the inside, full of greed, self-indulgence, and wickedness. Thank You, Father, that in Your grace You chose to reveal Your plan to redeem the lost race of sinful men, through the sacrificial offering of Your dear Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Thank You for revealing to Your people things that are to happen in the future, and what will be the signs of Your return to earth at the end of the Great Tribulation, when You come in power and great glory to rule and reign in righteousness. Thank You that as a member of the Body of Christ, I will not go through the great and terrible Day of the Lord, but for those who have to face Your wrath, I pray that many would recognise the signs of the time in which we live today, and believe on Christ for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Thank You that I am not appointed to wrath, but am saved by grace through faith in Jesus. But look down in pity I pray, on this lost world and bring many into Your kingdom before it is too late. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of truth and the many lessons that it contains for our learning. Thank You for this amazing passage which takes us, step by step, through the prophesied events of the Great Tribulation, and the things that will take place when Israel returns to You, and cries out to You for salvation - when Christ returns to earth, in power and great glory, to set up His millennial rule on earth. Teach me all that I should learn, and enable me to live my life according to Your perfect plans and purposes during this Church dispensation. May I watch for Christ's any day return for His Church, and give me an opportunity to share the good news of the gospel of grace with a world that has been blinded by the evil one. Help me to do only those things that are righteous in Your eyes, and to watch for Your any day return so that I may hear You say, "well done," when I stand before You. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Thank You that You know the end from the beginning, and I pray that any evil that is being secretly plotted today, to dishonour Your name and shipwreck the faith of Your people, will be exposed and that truth will prevail. Heavenly Father, thank You for the blood of the covenant which is poured out for many, for the forgiveness of sins. Thank You for Your promise of a new and eternal covenant, a covenant of the Spirit rather than one based on the letter of the Law. Thank You that Jesus came to cut the new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, and that He gave His Church the Last Supper as a reminder of His sacrificial offering for the sin of the world. Thank You that Jesus came as the final Passover Lamb, Who takes away the sin of the world, and that He is returning as the resurrected Lord, Who sits on the throne. Heavenly Father, as I consider the passion of Christ and the enormous pressures and pain He underwent on my account, I can only praise and thank You for Your immeasurable gift and His incalculable grace. But thanks be to God that in Christ, I have all I need to stand firm, as I watch and pray. Help me to rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, and in everything, to give thanks and praise for Your goodness and grace. Heavenly Father, my heart grieves within me when I think of Jesus being mocked, spat upon, and tortured before His death on the Cross. To imagine my precious Saviour in this state, willingly allowing them to treat Him this way, gives me a glimpse of His unfathomable love for me. Thank You, Father, that You gave Your only begotten Son to take the punishment that I deserve, dying on the Cross to pay the price for my sin, and thank You that He rose the third day so that by faith in Him I may be made the righteousness of God. May I never become so familiar with the horror of Christ’s suffering and death that I forget that it was the terrible consequences of my sin that caused Jesus to stretch out His arms of love for me on Calvary's Cross. Heavenly Father, when I consider the enormity of what Christ did for me at Calvary, I cannot begin to comprehend what it meant for Him to be separated from You as He took the full force of Your justified wrath upon Himself, on account of my sin, and bore the full weight of my transgressions and guilt upon His sinless shoulders. Heavenly Father, thank You for the encouragement we receive from the courageous actions of Joseph of Arimathea and his friend Nicodemus, who were not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, but fulfilled Your plans and purposes by boldly asking to take Christ's lifeless body for burial in a prepared tomb. Thank You that there is no-one excluded from Your gift of salvation - from the thief on the cross to these two members of the immoral Sanhedrin who believed God's Word and fulfilled Scriptures by their actions. Show me more of Him, I pray, and may I participate in the fellowship of His sufferings and the power of His Resurrection. Heavenly Father, what an astonishing lesson to learn from the wonderful story of the Resurrection, where the tears of the women and the doubts of Christ’s disciples caused them to forget the truth of Your Word and the glorious gospel of Christ, His sacrifice for sin, and His victory over death. I pray that I would not allow the emotions of my heart, the imaginations of my mind, or the difficulties of life’s circumstances, to eclipse the truth of Your Word or overshadow the many precious promises that are mine by faith in Him. May I stand on the truth of Scripture, obey Your commands, trust Your promises, and never forget that Your Word is steadfast, sure, living, powerful, sharper than any double-edged sword, and cannot be broken. I pray that with every passing day I would stand fast on its truth and not be shaken. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Bedtime Prayer For Bad Dreams

Loving Father You have graciously given us the night time for slumber and sleep so that we may be rested and refreshed in body soul and spirit, but all to often the imagination of our hearts, the thoughts of our minds and the difficulties that we are facing in life conjure up unwholesome imagination and unpleasant mental pictures, which all too often interrupt our sleep and can even cause us to be tormented with restlessness, bad dreams and frightening nightmares.

And so we bring to You those  that are struggling with this sort of interrupted sleep, knowing that this is not what You want for any of Your children.. for Your Word says:- “I will lay me down to sleep in peace, for You, Lord, make me to dwell in safety.” Father this is what You desire for all Your children and so we ask that You would guide those that are experiencing difficulties in their sleep pattern or who are being tormented by sleeplessness, dreams or nightmares, to fix their mind on You and reflect on the glory of Your holy name and  perfect character.. as they prepare to go to sleep each night.

We pray that those who are struggling with interrupted sleep will learn to fix their thoughts on You and meditate on that which is good and true, honorable and right, pure and lovely, and admirable. We pray that they will learn to take every thought captive to Christ and reflect on Your love and grace.. and all that is excellent. and worthy of praise - so that instead of fearing nightmares and interrupted sleep, they may approach bedtime in quite stillness of heart and fall into a relaxed sleep each night, as they rest in Your love - and in the morning wake refreshed in body soul and spirit, in Jesus name we pray,

Amen

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
