Praying through Matthew 16:15

Gracious Lord and Heavenly King, how can I ever thank You enough for setting aside the glory that You had with the Father from before the creation of the world. You chose to come to earth and become our sin-substitute so that whoever believes on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved and have eternal life. I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God, Who died for my sin and rose again so that I may live. Praise Your holy name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 16:16

Loving Father, thank You that You have drawn me with Your cords of love to know the Lord Jesus as my personal Saviour and heavenly Friend. I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, equal with the Father, and not created, and yet He chose to leave His heavenly dwelling to be born as a man, live a sinless life, and give Himself to be sacrificed on the Cross. Because of Jesus, I have eternal, abundant life. May my praise and thanksgiving ever rise to You, my Lord and my God. AMEN.

“And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Praying through Matthew 16:17

Heavenly Father, what a blessing it is to confess Jesus Christ as God and Saviour. Thank You for making Yourself known to the children of men, and thank You for convicting me of sin, righteousness, and judgement, so that I too can declare with Simon Peter and with all the saints, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Continue to guide me into all truth, I pray, and may my life be a testimony to the truth that Christ alone has the words of eternal life. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”

Praying through Matthew 16:18

Loving Father, thank You that I am Your child and that Christ is the Rock of my salvation. May I build my confession of faith upon Christ and Christ alone, Who is my precious Saviour and loving Friend. In His name I pray, AMEN.

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Praying through Matthew 16:24

Heavenly Father, I want to deny myself, take up my cross daily, and identify with my Saviour. Help me not to live for myself but rather to live for You. Help me lose my life for Your sake, knowing that this world holds nothing of value but that to follow You will result in the greatest reward. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”

Praying through Matthew 16:25

Loving Heavenly Father, may I live for You alone. Help me to die to self so that I may live to Christ. Help me to live the crucified life so that in losing my own self-life, I may gain 'Christ's-life' living in me. May my life be lived only for You, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.”

Praying through Matthew 16:26

Dear Lord, there is nothing in this world that I can accumulate to exchange for my own soul. The price is too high for me to pay. But Lord, You paid the price for my soul with Your shed blood upon the Cross. The free gift of the salvation of my soul cost You so dearly. Help me to understand how precious I am to You. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to You, a life that seeks Your will not mine. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
