Praying through Leviticus 1:2

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am not bound by the Mosaic Law. Thank You that I do not have to offer sacrifices from the herd or shed blood from the flock to honour Your name. Thank You that I do not have to offer an animal, to be returned into fellowship when I sin and fail You. May my sacrifice of a broken, contrite heart, and a consecrated life, honour Your name and be acceptable in Your sight. Thank You that through the shed blood of Christ, I am forgiven of my sin and have access into the throne-room of Your presence, every moment of the day and night. Thank You that in Him I have mercy to find help in time of need. Help me to obey Your Word and adhere to the principles and practices laid out in Scripture for Christians, and learn lessons from those given to Israel. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock.”

Praying through Leviticus 6:13

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me such an amazing understanding of Who You are and what You desire from Your children. Thank You that Jesus was both the Sin Offering Who paid the price for my sins, but also the Burnt Offering Who willingly gave His life to fulfil Your plans and purposes for the redemption of the world. I pray that I may willingly present my body in continual devotion and dedication to You, by giving up myself to Your service. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.”

Praying through Leviticus 16:34

Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You for the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ. Thank You that He was the sacrifice for my sin and acts on my account as my heavenly High Priest Whose sinless blood has been sprinkled on the heavenly altar as the full and final payment for all my sin and the sin of the world. Thank You for all the word pictures and Old Testament typology that helps me to understand so much of what Christ has done for me. It is so wonderful to know that by grace through faith in Him, my sin has been forgiven, once and for all. The power of sin in my life was defeated at the Cross, and the presence of my sinful nature will be finally gone forever when I see Him face to face. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.”

Praying through Leviticus 17:11

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfect plan of redemption, through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ Who died and rose again so that we might be forgiven of our sin and receive a new resurrected life in Him. As I see the clear picture of redemption which threads its way through Old Testament Scriptures, it brings me to an understanding that we are all sinners in need of a Saviour. For without the shedding of Christ’s blood there is no life, for the life is in the blood. Thank You that just as the life of mortal man is in the blood, so the life of forgiven sinners comes through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit and that one day we will receive a new, resurrected body, like unto Christ's resurrected body. I praise Your holy name forever and ever, AMEN.

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”

Praying through Leviticus 18:22

Heavenly Father, my heart is grieved to witness the degrading level to which mankind has plummeted due to sin. I repent of my part in the wicked ways of the world, whether by commission or omission, whether by being enticed by the evil practices of sin or by not standing up for what is right when I had an opportunity. Forgive me, Lord. I pray that in Your anger against the evil of this world, You will continue to show mercy and grace on this generation, and on those that are to come. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”

Praying through Leviticus 19:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lessons that Your Church can learn through the history of Israel and for the many types and pictures of Jesus that are hidden within the sacred pages of Scripture. Thank You that like Israel, I have also been called to be holy, because You are holy. It is humbling to realise that as part of Christ's Body, we have also been chosen, in Him, to be kings and priests unto God - to be a chosen people, who tell the world that Jesus died for their sin and rose again, so that by faith in Him we may be holy, as He is holy. Thank You that by faith in Christ, I have been called to be Your very own, and to proclaim the wonderful deeds of Him Who called me out of darkness into His marvellous light. May I live and work from this day forward, to be more like Jesus, and to live a holy life that is separated from this fallen world system. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.”

Praying through Leviticus 19:18

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Old Testament teachings and the many things that I can learn from Your Word. Teach me to take every thought captive to Christ, when I feel that my rights are being violated or when I would like to take matters into my own hands. Thank You that through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit, I am supplied with the sufficient grace to love others with Christ’s own perfect love, a love which passes my understanding. May I grow in grace and increase in holy love toward others, for Your greater glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.”

Prayers For Those That Are In Need

Dear God, I know that it is Your will to help those that are afflicted, to support the weak, to provide for the widows and orphans and to help those that are in need.

Use my hands to be of service to those in need, and use my voice to speak words of healing and encouragement to those that are afflicted and in distress. Thank You for hearing my prayer. In Jesus' name,

Amen.

“And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.”

Praying through Leviticus 25:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful picture of the Year of Jubilee that was given to Israel as a reminder that You are not only our great Creator, but that You are our wonderful Saviour and Christ is coming back to put all wrongs to right and restore to us the joy of our salvation. Thank You that in Christ, I have already found my perfect Sabbath rest. Thank You that He not only redeemed me from the penalty of sin when He died on my behalf, but also saved me from its power in this age. And how wonderful to know that when I go to be with Jesus, I will also be saved from the presence of sin in the ages to come. I pray that You would increasingly open my understanding to the glorious truths contained in Your Word and give me a discerning heart to follow You. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.”

Praying through Leviticus 26:13

Loving Father, thank You that Your Word is true, and You are my Deliverer in this world of sin and evil. Help me to fix my eyes on Jesus, Your living Word and my glorious Redeemer. When my mind is tempted to stray from You, I pray that I will call to remembrance all that You are and all that You have done for me. Enable me to point others to You. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

“I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.”
