Prayer for Ezra

Choose Chapter

Heavenly Father, thank You for the great prophetic scriptures and their amazing, pin-point accuracy. Thank You that You have not left us in the dark, but have given us a clear understanding of Your plans and purposes in the Word of God. Give me a wise and understanding heart as I read Your Word - and help me to always have an answer for the hope that I have in You, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

“Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,”

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your plans and purpose, to set up Christ on the holy hill of Zion, continues to move forward, toward Your ultimate goal. Thank You for the example of Cyrus, whom You used to fulfil Your prophetic word and forward Your plan of salvation. Use me, I pray, as an instrument in the forwarding of Your redemptive plans, in whatever way You choose.. and may I live to Your praise and glory, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN

“Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.”

Heavenly Father thank You for the book of Ezra and I pray that my spirit may be ever open to do Your will. Keep my heart ready to obey Your word and follow Your leading and guidance and use me I pray to carry out Your will for my life. We lift those in the Church who like Zerubbabel and Ezra, have the responsibility of being leaders and elders, and pray that you would move their hearts to listen to Your word; carry out Your will and encourage all their brothers and sisters in Christ during the difficult times we are all facing - This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN.

“Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.”
(Ezra 1:5)

Heavenly Father, thank You that the future has been written into Your Word and that by Your grace we are enabled to see Your plans and purposes being carried out, with astonishing precision, in the lives of so many kings and nations, people, lands and languages. We pray that You would continue to carry out Your plans and purposes in the lives of kings, queens, presidents and leaders of our time – so that at Your appointed time Christ will return to set up His eternal kingdom, for Your greater praise and glory, this we ask in Jesus name, AMEN

“Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;”
(Ezra 1:7)

Heavenly Father, yet again in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah, we see how Your plans and purposes for the redemption of mankind, through our Lord Jesus Christ, are played out on the stage of history. Just as You brought Your people back to the land, promised to their forefathers, we thank and praise You that nothing in heaven or earth can undermine Your perfect will for any of Your people. Thank You for Your great faithfulness to both Israel and the Church and thank You that You turn evil to good and shine Your light of joy and hope into every night of mourning. Praise Your holy name, AMEN.

“Now these are the children of the province that went up out of the captivity, of those which had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away unto Babylon, and came again unto Jerusalem and Judah, every one unto his city;”
(Ezra 2:1)

Heavenly Father, thank You for the book of Ezra and the important lessons that we can learn from its pages. I pray that the Church of today would review its dedication to You and that church elders, husbands and fathers would set an example as mature men of God, who rejoice in the Lord, are cheerful in their gifts and giving.. and set a real example on holy living to their wives and the younger generation. May all Your people recognise the priorities we need to implement in our lives, by making You the centre of our life and family. Keep me low at the cross and help me maintain a witness of prayer and praise in all I say and do - this I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the LORD which is at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in his place:”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lessons we can learn from servants like Ezra, who faithfully recorded the return of the Babylonian exiles to Israel and the joy they discovered in honouring Your name and fulfilling Your will for their lives. Thank You that the day is coming when Jesus will return in power and great glory to set up His eternal kingdom and dwell with His people on earth, and thank You that the feasts and festivals given to Israel paint such beautiful pictures of Your unfolding plan of redemption. I pray that I may worship You in spirit and truth for Your greater glory in Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;”

Prayer Of Gratitude For My Home And Family

Loving heavenly Father You have been with me in good times and in the bad times and I lift my hands up to You in gratitude for my home and for the family, into which You have so lovingly placed me.

You Lord have filled our home with so many blessings – and even when times have been tough and the circumstances of life have been very difficult, You have blessed me with such a loving family - which is becoming more and more of a blessing with each passing day – How I thank You Lord Jesus and bless Your holy name.

Thank You Lord for my parents, who have been so supportive of me -not only in my early years but also as I have grown older. I pray Your blessing on both of them and also on the wider family too – my aunts and uncles – brothers and sisters – nephews, nieces, cousins and grandparents – all of whom have been a blessing in their own special way.

I specially thank You for my spouse and the joy of seeing our own children born into the world and growing up into responsible adults – oh and Lord for the miracle of seeing the birth of my own precious grandchildren. What a joy this has been and how I praise You for all Your goodness and mercy to me.

And Lord thank You for all those who are in the wider body of Christ, – my brothers and sisters around the world, that have become such and important part of my eternal family. Thank You for the wonderful joy of knowing that we will all be united with You in love in heavenly places in the days to come, when we are given our glorified bodies in the eternal state. There are no words that are sufficient to express the gratitude I have that You are my Father –my Brother - my Lover – my Friend, in Jesus name I pray,

“And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.”

Prepare Our Hearts In This Time Of Advent

Heavenly Father thank You for the opportunity for us to once again examine our hearts during this lovely time of Advent, and the faith in Christ Jesus that we confess.

Keep our hearts aglow with love for Jesus and help to wonder more and more about amazing the grace that You have shown towards sinful man, in sending Your only begotten Son to come to earth, as a tiny human baby - so that He could bear the punishment for the sins of the whole world on His holy shoulders.

It never ceases to amaze us that Christ Jesus should set aside His heavenly glory and be conceived of the Holy Spirit by the virgin Mary, birthed into the human family as the promised Seed of the woman and be worshipped as a tiny baby in a humble stable at Bethlehem, by simple shepherds and singing angels alike.

It was Love incarnate that visited the earth so many years ago and that same love that saved us from our sins and came to dwell within the hearts of all that trust in Jesus as Saviour. Heavenly Father, accept our grateful sacrifice of praise – and may we come to know You more and love You better in the days that lie ahead, in Jesus name we pray,

“For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.”
(Ezra 7:10)

Prayer For All Our Grandchildren

Loving heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of my precious children and what a privilege it is to see my grandchildren growing up and learning about You. Thank You Father for each little life and I lift each one up to You Lord, and pray that by Your grace and love You would surround them with Your love, throughout their lives.

Guard and guide them all I pray and uphold and protect them. May each one come to know You Lord as their personal Saviour and may they all come to a deep understanding of all You are and all that You have done for them - Oh Lord I pray most earnestly that each one would accept You into their hearts and lives as their Lord and Saviour.

I pray that as they grow into their teens and become young adults that You would keep their hearts and minds turned to You and trusting in Jesus, for their every need. Protect each one from the philosophies and mindset of the world that are so contrary to the truth of Scripture and may each one grow in grace and become strong in their faith as they develop in wisdom and discernment.

Protect them from the evils of this age, keep them from temptations and help them to live godly lives and to develop as responsible adults who will teach their own children the wonderful truth of Salvation through Christ Jesus our Lord,

“Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.”
