Praying through Matthew 1:1

Heavenly Father, as I read Your Word and consider the truths that it contains, I see that Your ways are so much greater than man can imagine. You gave Your Son to be born as Son of Man - just as the prophets of old foretold. Thank You that Your plans and purposes, which were made in eternity past, can never be changed and that one day Jesus is returning as King of kings, to sit on the throne of David, where He will reign in righteousness, and rule in justice. Thank You in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Matthew 1:18

Heavenly Father, thank You that You loved us so much, that You sent Your only begotten Son to be born of a virgin, to become our Saviour by means of His vicarious death and Resurrection. He died for me and rose again so that I could have His resurrected life in me. What a Saviour! Thank You for the Bible and for the truth that it contains. May I draw closer to You, day by day, and grow in grace and in a knowledge of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.”

Praying through Matthew 1:21

Thank You, Father, for the gift of Your Son and the unfolding of Your eternal plan of salvation. Your perfect plan started as a tiny seed in the woman, travelling through time until He was born as a little baby in Bethlehem, and given the wonderful name of Jesus by His earthy guardian. He truly is my salvation. Thank You for His life, His example and His redeeming work on Calvary’s cross. May the name of Jesus be lifted high today. In His name I pray, AMEN.

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

Praying through Matthew 1:22

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Gospel of Matthew and the beautiful way that he links the truth of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, with the many Old Testament prophecies that foretold of His life and ministry, His sacrificial death, and glorious Resurrection. Thank You for telling us the end from the beginning so that we might know the truth and be set free from slavery to sin, by faith in Him. Give me a greater understanding of Your Word and more insight into the plan of redemption which threads its way throughout the Old and New Testaments. Help me to grow in grace and in a knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,”

Praying through Matthew 1:23

Loving Heavenly Father, I pray that I may see you with fresh eyes as I read the precious story of Christ's birth. May I love you with a deeper love as my understanding of You grows. Thank You that You are living in me and that one day I will see You face to face and know as I am known. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
