Prayer for 2 Corinthians 3

Choose Verse

Dear heavenly Father, thank You that there is nothing I can do to commend myself to You because Jesus did it all on the cross, on my behalf. Thank You that by faith in His death and resurrection I have been declared righteous and have been brought into the family of God. Keep me from any legalistic leanings and give me discernment to identify and reject teachers and teachings that are not from You. I pray that my life may be a sweet aroma to my fellow believers and to You, and help me to grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus day by day. This I ask in His precious name, AMEN.

“Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?”

Thank You Father for the day by day working of the Holy Spirit in my life. Shape me into the vessel that You would have me be and may my life be an open letter to all who cross my path, so that I may be a good and faithful witness to my Saviour and King, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.”
(2 Corinthians 3:3)

Heavenly Father, thank You that our confidence is not in ourselves but in Christ, as the indwelling Spirit of God transforms us day by day into the image and likeness of the Lord Jesus. May we be living epistles that show forth the love of God, and the truth of the glorious gospel of grace, in all we say and do.. for Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:”

Prayer For Sufficient Grace To Stop Smoking

Loving Father - I come to You to pray that You would help me to give up smoking. Father in my heart I feel that I am not being a good witness to those around me – and although I know that there is no sin in smoking – nevertheless my heart desires to quit this habit,- in order to help to be an encouragement to others, who are struggling with the habit of smoking – both believers and non-believers alike.

Lord I pray that You would take away the desire to smoke and replace it with more and more of a desire to know You more and to draw ever closer to You in the days that lie ahead – Lord, I believe that You are willing and able to give me the strength to quit and to You be all praise in Jesus name,

“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;”

To Be Freed From My Burdensome Addiction

Dear Lord Jesus, my addiction is a terrible burden and a such a shame to me and yet I find myself constantly returning to behaviours that I hate and long to be able to shed. I am so ashamed Lord and yet I know that You were the One Who said that You came to set the captives free – and Lord I am a captive. I am a captive and slave of this terrible addiction and yet to long to be freed and to live a normal life.

Free me Lord I pray from this compulsion for it is stifling my life and has cost me many dear friends as well as my job – but I long to be free to live as I ought.

I have heard the gospel and I do believe that Jesus died to take the full punishment for all my sins, including my addiction and I believe that He rose the third day, which broke the power of death in the lives of all who believe – so I am coming to you to ask You Lord to give me the abundant life that You have promised. I know that eternal life is now my portion but I pray that I may be free of my addiction in this life so that I may serve You as You deserve, I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus.

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
(2 Corinthians 3:17)

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your written Word and the glories it contains. Help me not to become too familiar with its truth that I become complacent. Help me to read Your word with child-like expectation and a deep-seated sense of awe. May I increasingly see the beauty of Jesus radiating from its pages and I pray that as I gaze on His loveliness, I too will start to be transformed from glory to glory - this I pray in Jesus name, AMEN.

“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
