Prayer For The Recovery Of A Friend

Dear God, You are the giver of life and health and You are the healer of the sick and the suffering – we pray for a dear friend who is in distress with ill-health today and pray that You would help them to come to a full recovery and restore them to wholeness, health and strength.

Lord I do ask that You would meet my friend at their point of need – not only in their physical suffering but also in their spiritual sickness. Lord my dear friend not only needs recovery of their physical health but recovery of their spiritual lack and the emotional pain - that seems to be making their physical problem so much worse.

Administer all Your gifts of health and healing for body and mind I pray and multiply Your blessings and grace towards them so that they may be fully restored and come to a deeper knowledge and understanding of You, in Jesus name,

Amen
“Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful story of Lazarus and the many lessons we learn from this amazing passage of Scripture. Thank You that sickness; sin; death and hell which is the inevitable result of all who fall short of Your glory, has been conquered forever, through the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf. Thank You that just as Mary and Martha's period of misery was turned into a laughter and joy, so our night of weeping has also been turned into a morning of joy with peals of singing - through faith in Christ our Redeemer. Thank You that because He lives we too shall live. May we sing forth Your praise and glory in the eternal ages to come, in Jesus' name we pray, AMEN.

“When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.”

For A Dying Christian Friend in a Hospice

Loving Lord, I just want to lift up my dear friend to You, who has been such a comfort and strength to me for so many years – but who has at last been admitted to a hospice where she is to pass her final few weeks of life in dignity and respect - as her life drains from her.. Lord I know that I am going to miss her so much…

Be with her Lord, every moment of the day and night. Thank You Father that she is to be looked after in such a caring and understanding environment. Be with the staff who are to attend her as her life flows from her and Lord –I pray that she would be very aware of Your very presence with her, every moment of the day.

Lord I know that she is ready and longing to meet You face to face and I ask that You would keep her free from the pain and suffering that so often stalks the advancement of death – But praise God that the grave has lost its terrible sting and death has lost its victory, through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.. Praise Your holy name…

Lord I know that I am going to miss my dear friend – but my sadness has such a wonderful tinge of hope and joy, for I know that soon we will all be together in Your company – where we will be free from all sickness and sadness – and You will wipe away every tear from our eyes. Thank You Lord in Jesus name…

Amen
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:”

The Death Of A Believer

Loving Lord I am filled with grief and sadness at the loss of my precious loved one – and yet that pain is tinged with gold, knowing that they trusted you as their Saviour and that they are now in Your presence.

I know that I am going to miss this precious one, who has been my strength and my joy for so long, and thank You for the precious times we had together.

Often Lord I expect my dear one to just be there, or walk through the door - and then remember that they have gone home to be with You. At times this is quite hard and yet I know that I must not grieve as those that have not hope in Jesus – but rejoice knowing that the day is coming when we will be together with You and You will wipe away all tears from our eyes - but at the moment my loss is like an open wound – and I pray that You will heal my brokenness and the loneliness I feel… and draw me every closer into Your arms of love my Lord and my God.

Thank You for all You are to me and may I rest in You in Jesus name,

Amen
“And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful example of Martha, who trusted You in the most grievous of life's circumstances. Thank You that You are indeed, the resurrection and the life, for all who trust in You. Help me to develop such a confident trust in Your word, that I am enabled to remain firmly settled in the faith, even when I am surrounded by life's greatest problems and pain. Help me to live my life by faith and not by sight - this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Scriptures that teach us the importance of having a heart that is right before You. Thank You that by faith in Christ I have been declared righteous and given everything I need for life and godliness. Help me grow in my Christian life and to live in a way that is well-pleasing to You. Search my heart and cleanse me daily from impure thoughts that dishonour Your name. Thank You for sending Your dearly beloved Son to pay the price for my sin and freeing me from the mastery of sin in my life - through the power of a sanctified heart. Help me to abide in Him and He in me, so that my life may bear much fruit for Your praise and glory - this I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.
