Praying through John 11:4

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful story of Lazarus and the many lessons I can learn from this amazing passage of Scripture. Thank You that sickness, sin, death, and hell, which is the inevitable result of all who fall short of Your glory, has been conquered forever through the death, burial, and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf. Thank You that just as Mary and Martha’s period of misery was turned into laughter and joy, so my night of weeping has also been turned into a morning of joy with peals of singing, through faith in Christ my Redeemer. Thank You that because He lives, I too shall live. May I sing forth Your praise and glory in the eternal ages to come. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.”
(John 11:4)

For A Dying Christian Friend In A Hospice

Loving Lord, I just want to lift up my dear friend to You, who has been such a comfort and strength to me for so many years, but who has at last been admitted to a hospice where she is to pass her final few weeks of life in dignity and respect, as her life drains from her. Lord, I know that I am going to miss her so much.

Be with her Lord, every moment of the day and night. Thank You Father, that she is to be looked after in such a caring and understanding environment. Be with the staff who are to attend her as her life flows from her and Lord, I pray that she would be very aware of Your very presence with her, every moment of the day.

Lord, I know that she is ready and longing to meet You face to face, and I ask that You would keep her free from the pain and suffering that so often stalks the advancement of death. But praise God that the grave has lost its terrible sting and death has lost its victory, through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise Your holy name!

Lord, I know that I am going to miss my dear friend, but my sadness has such a wonderful tinge of hope and joy, for I know that soon we will all be together in Your company, where we will be free from all sickness and sadness, and You will wipe away every tear from our eyes. Thank You Lord, in Jesus' name,

Amen.

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:”

Praying through John 11:27

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful example of Martha who trusted You in the most grievous of life's circumstances. Thank You that You are, indeed, the Resurrection and the life for all who trust in You. Help me to develop such a confident trust in Your Word that I am enabled to remain firmly settled in the faith, even when I am surrounded by life's greatest problems and pain. Help me to live my life by faith and not by sight. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.”

Praying through John 11:55

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Scriptures that teach us the importance of having a heart that is right before You. Thank You that by faith in Christ I have been declared righteous and given everything I need for life and godliness. Help me grow in my Christian life and to live in a way that is well-pleasing to You. Search my heart, and cleanse me daily from impure thoughts that dishonour Your name. Thank You for sending Your dearly beloved Son to pay the price for my sin and freeing me from the mastery of sin in my life, through the power of a sanctified heart. Help me to abide in You and You in me so that my life may bear much fruit for Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.”
