Praying through John 1:1

Father in heaven, I worship and praise Your holy name for Your wonderful plan of salvation. Thank You for sending Jesus, the Word, Who was with the Father before the world began. He came to earth willingly, in human flesh, so that a sinner such as I may be redeemed by His precious blood. Praise Your name and praise Jesus, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Praying through John 1:5

Thank You, Father, that the light of Jesus has shone into my heart, for I have trusted Him alone as my Saviour and Lord. May the light of Your love shine through me, until it is not I that shines in my life, but the light of Christ shining through me. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through John 1:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for the witness of Your Word, and thank You for sending Jesus into the world to be the Light of the world and Saviour of mankind. Help me to walk in the light as He is in the light and to let the light of His love shine through me to others so that my life would be a true testimony to Jesus. And just as John the Baptist prayed, as he bore witness to Jesus, I pray that I may decrease and Jesus may increase, until He is all in all in my life. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.”

Prayer For Alcoholic Anonymous

Father, thank You for all those that are involved in helping others with their addiction to alcohol. We thank You for places like Alcoholic Anonymous and the many Christian ministries and rehab centres that are dedicated to helping men and women recover from this debilitating and distressing addiction, and showing them the love of the Lord Jesus.

Give wisdom, grace and patience to all that are serving in one capacity or another to relieve the distress and devastation that alcoholism leaves in it wake. We pray that You would give them the right words of encouragement and advice to enable those that are addicted to permanently break free of their alcoholism and so live a more meaningful and fruitful life.

We pray that You would not only rescue alcoholic men and women from the depths of despair to which many have fallen, but also that You would raise them up into a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and bring them into newness of life in Him, to His praise and glory. This we ask in Jesus' name,

Amen.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”

Heavenly Father, what grace that You should love the world so much, that while we were all dead in our trespasses and sins and at enmity with You, You sent Jesus to be our Saviour and die for our sins. Thank You that I have been born again, born from above, born into the spiritual realm by faith. Thank You for Your goodness and grace. In Jesus' name I pray. AMEN.

Praying through John 1:14

Heavenly Father, thank You that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was made flesh and came to dwell among us as the unique and only begotten Son of God, Who alone qualifies to be our Redeemer. Thank You that He was born into the human race as a man - fully God yet fully man - so that by His death and Resurrection, He could become the singular substitute for the sin of the world. Thank You that by grace through faith in Him, I have been redeemed. What a wonderful Saviour, full of grace and truth. To Him be all praise and glory, AMEN.

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Praying through John 1:23

Heavenly Father, thank You that by Your grace, I responded to the call to turn from my sin to Jesus and trusted in Him for the forgiveness of my sin. Thank You that despite being rejected by the nation of Israel, there are many Jews who responded to the warning voice of John the Baptist. By faith in Jesus, they have become part of the one New Man in Christ, where there is neither Jew nor Gentile. I look forward to that day when Christ will return for His Church, and I pray for the day when Israel as a nation will repent of their sin, turn back to God, and acknowledge Jesus as Lord and King. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.”

Praying through John 1:30

Heavenly Father, thank You for the witness and prophetic ministry of John the Baptist, the humble forerunner of Christ who died to his own self importance and was ready and willing to point people to Jesus. Help me to develop the characteristics of humility that are so evident in his ministry, and I pray that I may be ready and willing to say, "I must decrease, and He must increase." I praise and thank You that Jesus came into the world to save sinners and fulfilled all righteousness, so that by faith in Him I have been forgiven of my sin and received life everlasting. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.”

Praying through John 1:38

Dear Lord and Heavenly Father, thank You that whosoever will, may follow Jesus and find the answer to every question they have, in Him. Thank You that Jesus is the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world, and He is the Lamb on the throne Who has secured our redemption through His sacrificial work on the Cross. Thank You for the example of John the Baptist who pointed people to Jesus and for the two disciples that discovered he held the answer to every aching question they had. May I not only follow Jesus but point others to Him - in Whom are the words of eternal life. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?”

Thank You that He has taken away my own and called me to come to Him for salvation. Give me a longing to know Him better and to love Him more fully, and may I always respond to His invitation to "Come" to Him for all my needs. In His name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 1:48

Heavenly Father, thank You for a peep into the lives of Philip and Nathanael who were men of faith in whom there was no guile, but who were ready and willing to respond to the call of Jesus in their lives and recognise that He is not only the Son of Man Who died on the Cross to pay the price for our sin, but God the Son Who rose from the dead so that by faith in Him we might not perish but have everlasting life. Help me never to diminish the deity of Christ. Help me never to forget that He became my Kinsman-Redeemer, and help me to grow more and more like Jesus in the days that lie ahead. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.”
