Praying through John 2:4

Thank You, Lord, that You always fulfil Your plans and purposes in Your perfect timing. Thank You for loving us so much that You were born into our race and lived a sinless life so that You could redeem us by Your precious blood, when that hour finally arrived. Give me a deeper understanding in my heart of all that Your death and Resurrection achieved. Thank You that my times and my future are safe in Your hands. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.”

Praying through John 2:5

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful example of Mary, the dear mother of Jesus. She understood Who Jesus was and pointed others away from herself, to Him. In the same way, help me to keep my eyes looking to Jesus, pointing others away from myself, to Him. May I lift Him up in all I say and do, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.”

Praying through John 2:13

Heavenly Father, thank You that although Jesus respected and obeyed the Law, He also fulfilled the Law when He came to be the propitiation for my sins and for the sins of all who trust in His name. I praise You for Your amazing plan of redemption and that despite Israel’s rejection of their Messiah, salvation has come to all who believe in Him. Thank You that Your plans for both the Church and for Israel will one day be completed, and I look for that any day return of Christ to take us to be with Himself. I pray for the day when the entire nation of Israel will call out to Christ for salvation. This I pray in the name of Jesus, AMEN.

Praying through John 2:15

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons that are written in Your Word. Help me to live righteously in Your eyes. Help me to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly before You, all the days of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 2:19

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus. Thank You that Your only begotten Son took on human flesh, was born into the human race, and showed us the way to life everlasting. Thank You that by faith in Him, my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and I have the indwelling Spirit of God living within my mortal frame. Thank You that death no longer has dominion over me and that because Christ was raised from the dead, I too have received newness of life. And thank You that the day is coming when I will also be clothed in a resurrected body. To You be all praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

Praying through John 2:21

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your eternal Son to become a man so that His human body could die for the sin of the whole world and His life could become our life, through time and into eternity. Praise His holy name, AMEN.

“But he spake of the temple of his body.”

Praying through John 2:24

Heavenly Father, it is a sobering thought to realise that every word I speak, every action I do and every thought that crosses the imagination of my mind is open and exposed before You. Thank You that my salvation is not based on my righteousness but is judged by the righteousness of Christ, Who died in my place so that I might become a new creation in Christ - by faith. Help me to take every thought captive to Christ so that my words and deeds, my thoughts and my motives may be pleasing to You and honouring to Your holy name, AMEN.

“But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,”

Praying through John 2:25

Heavenly Father, how amazing to realise that while I was still a sinner Christ died for me.. and that even when I was dead in trespasses and sins, at enmity with You and without hope in the world, You looked down on me in pity and mercy. Keep me low at the cross and broken before You. Help me to carry out Your will - not in my own fleshly strength but through Your sufficient grace. Prevent me from presumptuous thoughts and may I always and only do those things that are pleasing to You - not simply because You know every thought of my mind but out of a growing love and respect for the Person and Work of my Saviour, Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.”
