Prayer for John 13

Choose Verse

Heavenly Father, what a wonderful Saviour is Jesus. I stand amazed at His heart of love for me and for all who have trusted Him as Saviour. He did not need to leave His home in glory and die for my sin.. but He did it for love of me and for all who trust Him as Saviour. May we live to His praise and glory in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

“Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for this precious picture in the upper room, when in humble submission to the Father's will, the Lord Jesus laid aside His garment and began to wash the feet of His bewildered disciples. Lord there are many times in my life that I do not understand the reason that You allow certain things to happen, but help me to simply trust You in all things and enable me to pray, Thy will not mine be done. Open my understanding to all that You are seeking to teach me and may I grow in grace as I submit to Your will for my life - in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Loving Father, sometimes I become so familiar with walking with You day by day that I forget the wonder of Who You truly are. Excite in me a wonderment of Who You truly are and the amazing grace that has been bestowed upon me, to the praise and Your glory of your wonderful grace. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Dear heavenly Father, what a beautiful example the Lord Jesus Christ gave of how I should live my life. May I decrease in all I say and do so that the new-life in Christ my increase in me. May my life be one that is lived out in love and truth and humility and grace, so that Christ may be seen in me as I die to self and live to Him – in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus. Thank You that He was prepared to be the sacrifice for my sin, and for the sin of the whole world. Thank You that He endured the cross and all the suffering and pain that was inflicted on the sinless Son of God - the perfect Son of Man - the spotless Lamb of God. I pray that I may know HIM more and more... and that I would be ready and willing to fellowship in His suffering here on earth - during my sojourn in a world that despises His name and rejects Your offer of Salvation. I pray that many whose ears have been blocked and eyes blinded to the truth would be convicted of their sin and place their trust in Him - before it is too late. Use me in whatever capacity You choose and may I live, work and if necessary die for His dear name's sake. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the life, the ministry and the example and Peter - the apostle who holds such a special place in the hearts of all who have trusted Christ for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Thank You that although our faith may falter and we let you down by relying on our own abilities, instead of trusting in Your sufficient strength, You are always faithful to forgive our foolishness and return us into fellowship with Yourself, when we confess our faults. I pray that my zeal and love for the Lord Jesus would continue to develop and grow, so I would be bold in my faith and that in the power of Your Holy Spirit I have the sufficient strength to overcome every difficulty in life. Thank You ... and it is in Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lessons we can learn from Peter and man's inability to do the good and eschew the evil - except in the strength of our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Thank You that there is no sin too great that You will not forgive, for those that humble acknowledge their need of salvation - through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Keep me from falling into the trap of pumping up my own self-confidence instead of trusting in Your sufficient strength, when faced with temptation and trial. Keep me humble before you and use me in the furtherance of the gospel of Christ - this I ask in His precious name, AMEN.

“Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.”
