Praying through John 5:11

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons we can learn from the Word of Truth. I pray that as I journey through life, I may not miss any precious encounters with Christ along the way. Help me to do all things to Your praise and glory, and in everything give thanks. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through John 5:14

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons that You teach us through Your Word. Help me to keep my focus on Jesus and not become too obsessed with my own troubles and difficulties which can entrap my mind and cause me to dwell on my present woes, rather than on my future hope. Keep me alert to Your leading and ready to listen to Your voice, in every situation of life. Thank You for Your amazing grace, that through faith in Jesus I have not only been forgiven of my sin, but have been given all I need for life and godliness. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.

“Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.”

Praying through John 5:16

Heavenly Father, how easy it is to fall into legalism and hypocritical thinking by my short-sighted understanding of Your goodness and grace toward the human race and Your plans and purposes for the redemption of man. Keep me from this narrow-minded, self-righteous, religious thinking. May I act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You all the days of my life, to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through John 5:17

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am saved by grace through faith in Christ, Who has become my current, continuous, and eternal Sabbath rest. Thank You for Your ongoing work in the lives of both sinners and those that are saved by grace through faith. Thank You for my own salvation, justification, sanctification, and future glorification. You started a good work in me, and I pray that it will be completed in the day of Christ Jesus, to His greater glory. May I rest in You Who is my Sabbath rest so that You may work through me for the benefit of others and for Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.”

Praying through John 5:18

Heavenly Father, thank You for the perfect Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, all distinct, all equal, all One God. Thank You that You saved me by grace through faith in Christ. Keep me, I pray, from any form of religiosity or legalism, and guide me into all truth. Thank You that You have not given up on Your people and continue to convict men and women of sin, righteousness, and judgement. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 5:19

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful example of the Lord Jesus Christ Who laid aside His heavenly glory to be made in the likeness of sinful flesh so that in carrying out Your will, He paid the price for the sin of the world and demonstrated the way all Your sons and daughters should live - in humble obedience to Your will - only saying and doing those things that we hear from You. Help me to live as Jesus lived and to conduct my life in a manner that honours Your name, for Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.”

Praying through John 5:21

Loving Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing lessons I learn from the Words of Scripture, the various people, the choices they make and the wonderful love of God that passes human understanding. Thank You for sending Jesus to become a man, so that He could not only die a sacrificial death for my sins, but also rise from the dead and become the Firstfruit from the dead. Thank You, that in Him are the words of eternal life, and by faith in Him I have already received eternal life, and because He lives, I too will rise from the dead in newness of life eternal. Keep me from falling into any legalistic thinking, and prevent me from missing an opportunity to come closer to Christ, in thought, word and deed. May many that remain dead in trespasses and sins, hear the good news with open minds and receive the blessings that are open to ALL who believe. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.”

Praying through John 5:22

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your amazing plan of salvation. Thank You for sending the eternal Son of God to become the perfect Son of Man, Who has become the life-giving Spirit to all who would believe on Him. Thank You, that all judgement is in His hand. Lord, without Your amazing plan of redemption, I would still be dead in sins and estranged from You. Thank You, that by faith in Him, my sins are forgiven and I have eternal life as a free gift of grace. Thank You, that I am no longer part of the old creation in Adam, but have become part of the new creation in Christ. I pray that many whose eyes are blinded to this truth would find their hope in Him. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 5:23

Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing plan of redemption. Thank You that the only way that You could save mankind from eternal separation from Yourself was to send Your dearly loved Son as the sacrifice for our sin so that under Your authority He could live a life of dependence on You and die as a perfect, sinless Man. Thank You that He was obedient to the point of death, and has received all power and glory for His faithfulness. Praise Your holy name, AMEN.

Praying through John 5:25

Heavenly Father, I do not know or understand a fraction of the cost for the eternal Son of God to come in the likeness of sinful flesh and willingly sacrifice His life for me, as the suffering Son of Man. But I praise and thank You that by His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection, many who were dead in sins have heard His voice and been given a new-life-in-Christ for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting. Praise His holy name, AMEN.

Praying through John 5:28

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been saved by grace through faith in Christ's sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection and have received His resurrected life within my mortal frame. Thank You that in Christ there is now no condemnation, but that in Him, I have already passed from death to life. Thank You that I have the assurance that at the Rapture, as either one who is alive and remain or one who is part of the dead-in-Christ who come forth from their earthly graves, I will be raised incorruptible, knowing that my life is now hidden with Christ. Praise His holy name forever and ever, AMEN.

Praying through John 5:29

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your Holy Spirit convicted me of sin, righteousness, and judgement, and that by faith in Christ I have been saved by grace, justified in Your eyes, declared righteous because of Christ, and am assured of taking part in the first resurrection - the resurrection to eternal life. There are many who have rejected Your Word and turned away from the truth, causing them to remain under Your condemnation. I pray that while there is still time, many would hear the gospel of grace and put their trust in Jesus, and join us who have believed, in the first resurrection to life. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”

Heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You for Jesus, my perfect example of how I should live to Your praise and glory. Praying through John 5:37

Father, thank You for the holy Scriptures which You have given for our learning. Help me to read, mark, learn, inwardly digest, and believe all that You have purposed to reveal in Your Word. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through John 5:39

Heavenly Father, thank You for the inspired Scriptures which point me to Christ. May I read them with understanding and be guided into all truth by Your Holy Spirit. Keep me from seeking to add to Your finished work of Calvary through my own works of the flesh. I know that eternal life is to be found by faith in Christ alone, and that I am only accepted by You because I am 'in Christ' and not because of anything that I could do. Praise His holy name, and draw me closer to Jesus as I read the Scriptures, day by day. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

Praying through John 5:40

I praise and thank You, Heavenly Father, that You convicted me of my sin and the need of Christ for the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting. But Lord, there are many today who reject the truth of Scripture and the testimony that Jesus is the eternal Son of God Who came to earth to die for the sin of the whole world, co-equal with the Father and a member of the co-eternal Godhead. Convict many today of their need of You, I pray, so that before it is too late You will bring many into the kingdom. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.”
