Prayer for John 8

Praying through John 8:34

Heavenly Father, what amazing grace that You should choose to redeem the fallen race of Adam and bring those that believe in His name out of the slave-market of sin by faith in Christ. Thank You that I have been released from the vice-like hold that sin has on my life. Thank You in Jesus' name the penalty of sin has been paid in full and the power of sin has been broken in my life. Thank You that in Christ I have the power of the indwelling Spirit of God to hold me steady - as I allow the life of Christ to rule in my heart. Thank You, Father, that in Christ I am no longer a slave of sin but have been set free through Him Who loved me and gave Himself for me. Praise His holy name, AMEN.

“Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.”

Praying through John 8:7

Father God, thank You that my sins have been forgiven and there is no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus. I confess that there are times when I have been critical of others, forgetting that my own sins were scarlet, but by Your grace have been washed white as snow. Lord, I want to live a life that is pleasing to You. I pray that Your new-life within may display the grace and love of the Lord Jesus towards others, in the same way that You show Your grace and love towards me. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”

Praying through John 8:9

Heavenly Father, thank You for the heart of compassion that Jesus showed to all around Him, fully aware that He would pay the price for their sins. Let me never forget that He bled and died as payment for every sin I have committed. Help me to share His compassion for those in my life, as I walk in newness of spirit and live a godly life to Your honour and glory. For You are my God and my Saviour, and I love You Lord, AMEN.

“And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.”

Praying through John 8:12

Thank You, Father, for giving me the Light of life in Jesus. I pray that I may so concentrate my gaze upon Him day by day, that I may live and move and walk and pray in a manner that is well-pleasing to You. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Praying through John 8:18

Heavenly Father, thank You that You sent Your only begotten Son to be my Saviour and the Redeemer of the world. I pray that I may trust in the truth of Your Word which is recorded in the inspired Scriptures, so that whosoever believes on Christ Jesus for the forgiveness of sins will not perish but have everlasting life. Thank You in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.”

Praying through John 8:19

Heavenly Father, thank You that by grace Your Holy Spirit convicted me of sin and righteousness and judgement. Thank You that by faith in Christ, I have been set free from slavery to sin and given life eternal. Thank You, also, that I have been given free and unhindered access into the very presence of the Majesty on high, to Whom be all praise, might, majesty, dominion, and power... both now and into the eternal ages to come. Praise Your holy name, AMEN.

“Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.”

Praying through John 8:21

Heavenly Father, this is a solemn teaching, and it grieves my soul that there are many, like the proud Pharisees, who reject Your offer of salvation. It grieves me to know that there are still foolish people, who like the leaders of the Jews, refuse to open their eyes and ears to the truth of the gospel of Christ. Soften the hearts of men, women, Jew, and Gentile alike, so that they may recognise Christ as Saviour, and place their trust in His sacrificial work at Calvary. Use me I pray, to spread the good news to unsaved people, so that they may hear, and believe and not die in their sins, but be saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, our God, and our Saviour, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.”

Praying through John 8:23

Heavenly Father, it is wonderful to know that I have been born again into a new creation and can never die in my sins, because Christ took the punishment for me on the Cross, for which I am eternally grateful. But there are many who have not trusted in Christ for the forgiveness of their sin who will die in their sins if they do not hear and believe the good news of the gospel of grace. I pray that Your Holy Spirit would convict and convert many people of their need of Christ for the salvation of their soul, and use me to be a light to point the lost to Him. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.”

Praying through John 8:24

Thank You, Father, for all You did to draw me to Yourself. Thank You that I have the life of Christ, simply by believing on Jesus as my Saviour. You alone are worthy to be praised. Help me to live my life, day by day, in grateful thanks and praise for Your inestimable gift. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”

Praying through John 8:31

Loving Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been born into Your family and have become Your child. Lord, I want to grow in grace and in a knowledge of You. Help me to dig deep into Your Word every day and hold fast to the truths I find so that I may really be Your disciple. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;”

Praying through John 8:32

Loving Lord, I want to know You more, abide in Your Word, and become a true learner of You. Help me, Lord, to learn of You and grow in grace, for I want to know the truth and to be set free from the bondage of sin, a freedom that only comes as I abide in You. I ask this in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Prayer For Alcoholic Addiction Recovery

Heavenly Father, I confess that I have not only hurt other people, and especially those that are close to me, but I have offended You and ignored some of the warnings that I believe were directly or indirectly sent from You. Help me I pray to break free of this ungodly addiction and get on the road to recovery.

Forgive me Lord, for I have sinned against You and ignored the clear teaching of Your Word to live soberly, righteously and in the fear of the Lord and to walk circumspectly before You, as a child of the light. But I come to You in humble submission to ask You to help me to get on the road to addiction recovery, for I know that You have promised to lift-up all who come to You out of the miry pit, even when we have foolishly dug it for ourselves.

Help me be set free from alcohol, putting on the breastplate of righteousness, and for the helmet of salvation in Christ, in Whose name I pray,

Amen.

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

Praying through John 8:44

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am Your child. Keep me, I pray, from the sin of pride and unbelief. Please give me discernment in every area of my life, so that I do not fall prey to the lies of the devil. Help me to look to Jesus, moment by moment, and to walk in the Truth. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

Praying through John 8:58

Loving Father, I stand amazed in Your presence knowing that Jesus, my Saviour and Lord, came from His sovereign position on the eternal throne of Deity, to die for me. Truly, the Lord Jesus Christ is my Lord and my God, Who was, and is, and is to come. I worship You, my Lord, AMEN.

“Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.”
