Purify my heart O Lord my God, for I love and trust You and desire to be set apart unto You, in holiness and righteousness all the days of my life. I desire to be holy for You are holy and You have called all Your children to be set apart unto You, and to be refined in the refining fires of Your purifying love and unimaginable grace, so that we may come forth as pure gold in Your sight.
Lord, it is my chief desire to be set apart unto You, “holy unto the Lord,” and ready to do Your will. Lord, I cannot do this in my own strength, but only in the power of the Holy Spirit, Who alone can take my bruised and bloodied heart and change me from the inside out to become more and more like Jesus. May I like Him, walk in spirit and truth and help me to seek to do only those things that are pleasing in Your sight and honouring to Your holy name. Guide me into all truth. Help me to lay aside all the encumbrances of this world that hinder my pursuit for purity. I ask this in the name of my precious Saviour, Jesus Christ my Lord,
Heavenly Father, thank You for the opportunity for us to once again examine our hearts during this lovely time of Advent, and the faith in Christ Jesus that we confess.
Keep our hearts aglow with love for Jesus, and help us to wonder more and more about amazing the grace that You have shown towards sinful man, in sending Your only begotten Son to come to earth, as a tiny human baby, so that He could bear the punishment for the sins of the whole world on His holy shoulders.
It never ceases to amaze us that Christ Jesus should set aside His heavenly glory and be conceived of the Holy Spirit by the virgin Mary, birthed into the human family as the promised Seed of the woman, and be worshipped as a tiny baby in a humble stable at Bethlehem, by simple shepherds and singing angels alike.
It was Love incarnate that visited the earth so many years ago, and that same love saved us from our sins, and came to dwell within the hearts of all that trust in Jesus as Saviour. Heavenly Father, accept our grateful sacrifice of praise, and may we come to know You more and love You better in the days that lie ahead. In Jesus' name we pray,
Thank You, Father, that in Your wisdom You do not renew and restore the old fallen sin-nature in Adam, but You give us a new nature, a new, born-again life, received through faith in Christ. Thank You for the lessons we can learn from biblical saints like David, who was cleansed of his sin, when he confessed his faults and cried out to You. Thank You for the indwelling ministry of the Holy Spirit, and I pray that You would point out all the areas in my life that grieve You or quench Your ongoing work within. Create in me a clean heart I pray, and renew a steadfast spirit within me, and may Christ be seen in me as I submit to Your Spirit's leading and do only those things I hear from Him. In Christ's name I pray, AMEN.Source: Verse of the day for Psalm 51:10
