Prayer for James 3

Praying through James 3:1

Heavenly Father, I praise You for the truth of Your Word, and thank You for those that You put in my path, to teach me the glorious gospel of Christ. I pray that I may grow in grace, walk in spirit and truth, mature in the faith, and be ready and willing to tell others the hope that I have in You. Help me to be faithful in all I say and do, and give me opportunities to tell others about Jesus, and the joy of our salvation. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.”

Praying through James 3:4

Heavenly Father, thank You for the warnings Your Word gives about the devastation that unguarded words can have. Help me to keep my tongue under control, being slow to speak but quick to listen. May the words that I speak and the meditation of my heart be always acceptable to You, my God and my Saviour. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.”

Praying through James 3:6

O Lord, help me to take this Scripture to heart. I know how much harm words can do as I remember the times I have been hurt by the words of others and hurt others with my own harsh words. Forgive me, Lord. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.”

Praying through James 3:10

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus' example of how to live on earth to Your praise and glory. I pray that I would not act hypocritically, praising God in one breath and cursing Him in another, but I pray I would reflect the Lord Jesus, speaking always in spirit and in truth with all wisdom and understanding. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.”

Praying through James 3:14

Heavenly Father, keep me I pray, from any bitterness of heart or selfish ambitions, and help me to walk in spirit and in truth. Give me wisdom and understanding, so that by my actions and attitude, I may walk in Your ways and always be pleasing to You. Strengthen me and enable me to live as Christ lived, in active dependence on You. This I ask in Jesus’ name, AMEN.

“But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.”

Praying through James 3:16

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is the power of God and the wisdom of God and that in Him is no confusion or shifting shadows. I know that the enemy likes to bind us up in confusing webs of lies, fear, and doubt. May I resist the devil and keep my eyes focused on Jesus alone. This I ask in Jesus' holy name, AMEN.

“For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.”

Praying through James 3:17

Loving Father, I pray that my life is one that demonstrates Your wisdom from above. May I reflect the pure, gentle, and merciful nature of Jesus as I show forth His life in me. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”
