Prayer for 1 Corinthians 2

Praying through 1 Corinthians 2:1

Loving Father, I pray that in all I say and do, that You may be lifted high in my heart so that people only see Jesus in me, until I am nothing and He is all in all. In His name I pray, AMEN.

“And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 2:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for my salvation and my redemption and that I am fully reconciled to You through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You that Jesus is the propitiation for my sins and that He was willing to identify with my sinfulness so that I may be eternally identified with His death and wonderful resurrected life - which I have received by grace through faith in His sacrificial work on Calvary's cross - praise His holy name. I pray that in the days ahead I set all else aside, except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 2:3

Heavenly Father, what a wonderful example of a man of humility and grace who did not seek to use His own wisdom, academic ability, intellectual stature, or oratory skills in his ministry, but recognised his own human limitation and instead, became a living sacrifice unto God. I pray that I will never seek to elevate my own importance in the eyes of man but present my life as a living sacrifice, holy to the Lord - so that in Your power I may be enabled to share the simple gospel of grace to a lost and dying world, not in my own strength, but through the power of Him Who called me out of darkness into His glorious light. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 2:4

Heavenly Father, thank You that You gave to Paul and Your other apostles the message of the cross, which is the greatest demonstration of the Spirit and of power, for it saved a wretch like me. Thank You that salvation does not necessitate worldly wisdom, but comes through the message of the cross. Praise Your holy name, AMEN.

“And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 2:5

Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times that I have sought to do things in my own strength or tried to use my own powers of persuasion to lead others to Christ. Help me to share the truth of the gospel of grace, simply and truthfully, as led by the Spirit of God, so that my faith and theirs may be founded on the truth and not influenced by worldly rhetoric, to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”

Thank You that You have opened my understanding to the truth of the glorious gospel of grace. Praying through 1 Corinthians 2:7

Heavenly Father, how astonishing to know that the mystery of the Cross, that was hidden for ages and generations, has been revealed to those who have trusted Christ for the forgiveness of sins. How I praise and glorify You that eye has not seen and ear has not heard the amazing things that You have prepared for those that love You. Increase my love and longing for You, and help me to share the truth of the gospel of grace with those You place in my path - for Your greater praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through 1 Corinthians 2:9

Thank You Heavenly Father, that in Your goodness and grace You chose to reveal Yourself and the wonderful message of redemption in Your Word and the amazing prophetic scriptures which reveal the end from the beginning. We pray that we would earnestly study to show ourselves approved unto God.. but keep us from hankering after a knowledge of things which You have chosen to keep hidden from our sight. Thank You that our blessed hope is in Christ and the wonders of our eternal future are hidden in Him - to Whom be all praise and glory AMEN.

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 2:14

Heavenly Father, thank You that You convicted me of my sin, of Christ's righteousness and of judgement, which has been passed on all who do not by grace through faith come to trust in Christ as Saviour. Help me to live a spiritual life and not revert back to carnal pursuits and worldly ways, but may I walk in spirit and truth in the power of Your Holy Spirit and may I grow in spiritual wisdom and discernment day by day to Your praise and glory, AMEN.

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 2:15

Heavenly Father, what a great joy and privilege it is to know that my body is a temple of God. By the power of Your indwelling Holy Spirit, I am enabled to judge all things and be appraised by no one. Keep me low at the Cross and ever open to the leading and guidance of Your Holy Spirit. Prevent me from being enticed into the ways of the world or influenced by human wisdom. Guide me into all truth, I pray, as I stand firm on the unchangeable Word of Truth, and may the mind of Christ dwell in me richly. This I pray in His holy name, AMEN.

“But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 2:16

Father God, thank You that I have the mind of Christ. Please take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to You. Use my intellect to Your glory and help me to live like Jesus lived - in humble obedience before You, only doing those things that You would have me to do. Help me to place all my carnal inclinations on the altar of sacrifice, and live for You alone, for I want to live in spirit and truth, for Your praise and glory. In Christ's name I pray, AMEN.

“For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”
