Prayer for Hebrews 7

Choose Verse

Praying through Hebrews 7:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing lessons I can learn from the mysterious figure of Melchizedek and the choices that Abraham made when he met Him on his homeward journey, after he rescued his nephew from his enemies. Keep me from being dazzled by the transitory, tempting treats, passing perks, and glittering prizes this world has to offer. Thank You that Jesus is my great High Priest of heaven Who is interceding on my behalf, day and night, and pouring untold and eternal blessings on my head. I praise and thank You, Lord. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;”

Praying through Hebrews 7:2

Heavenly Father, it is a thing most wonderful to realise that Jesus was born into His own creation so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. I rejoice that I have come to a greater understanding of Your wonderful plan of redemption, whereby Jesus was born to be King of Peace, King of Righteousness, and our heavenly High Priest after the order of Melchizedek. Thank You that by faith in Him, we might be redeemed from the slave-market of sin. Thank You for Your people, Israel, and the part they played in opening our understanding to Your perfect plan of redemption. Open my eyes more and more and give me a greater understanding of Your Word in the days ahead. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;”

Praying through Hebrews 7:11

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons that You teach us in Your Word. Help me to understand more of You with each passing day. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?”

Praying through Hebrews 7:12

Loving Father, how I praise and thank You for giving Jesus as Your final Word to the world and introducing Him as the King-Priest, after the order of Melchizedek. Thank You for the wonderful way You used Israel to bring Jesus into the world as the Jewish Messiah, and Saviour of the world. Thank You, that You are using the Church today to continue fulfilling Your plan of redemption to this lost and dying world. Bring many into the kingdom I pray, and may Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.”

Praying through Hebrews 7:16

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing us that Jesus is the great Prophet, the great King of the Jews Who will sit on David's throne. He is the promised Messiah of Israel and the Saviour of mankind. Thank You that today, Jesus is seated on the throne of His Father acting as our great High Priest and is interceding for His Church night and day. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.”

Praying through Hebrews 7:18

Dear Father God, thank You for the simple way that You open our understanding to the truth of Your Word. At times, I try to complicate things instead of looking to Scripture to open my understanding of Your perfect plan of salvation, and recognising the pictures You paint in Scripture, to point me to Christ. Thank You, that Jesus is not only our Heavenly King and High Priest, but is also the eternal Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world, and the perfect Kinsman- Redeemer and Mediator between fallen humanity and our holy Father. To Him be all honour and glory and in His name I pray, AMEN.

“For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.”

Praying through Hebrews 7:19

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the truths it contains. Thank You for the Scriptures that point me to Christ and help me to understand that we have all sinned and we all fall short of Your perfect standard. But how I praise You, Lord, that by Your grace You cut a New Covenant through the blood of Christ Jesus Who has become my Kinsman-Redeemer and through Whom I can draw near to You, by faith in His sacrificial work. Thank You that I have a new and better hope through faith in Christ and an eternal home in heaven. Praise Your holy name, AMEN.

“For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.”

Praying through Hebrews 7:22

Heavenly Father, how I rejoice to know that Jesus became the guarantee of our great salvation, through a better covenant that was cut at Calvary when He became sin for us and willingly sacrificed His own, perfect life on the Cross. Thank You that Jesus is the greatest Prophet of God and will one day reign on earth as King of kings and Lord of Lords. And thank You that today He is seated at the right hand of God, interceding for us as our Great High Priest. Keep me ever mindful of all that Christ has done for me, and may I live my life for His honour and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.”
