Prayer for 1 Peter 3

Praying through 1 Peter 3:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful way that You ordained marriage and implemented the governance of the individual home with a pattern of loving order. May Christian husbands and wives be ready and willing to follow Scripture's clear instructions on marriage which is a picture of the beautiful relationship between Christ and His Bride, the Church. I pray for the many Christian women who are married to unsaved men. Give them Your grace to live holy unto You and may their conduct attract their husbands into a saving faith in the Lord Jesus. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:3

Loving Father, let me not be swayed by the vanity of the world, but may I clothe myself in humility of heart and gentleness of spirit. May I reflect the beauty of the Lord Jesus in all I say and do, to His praise and glory. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:4

Heavenly Father, I pray that I would let the hidden person of my heart produce the beautiful fruit of the Spirit which is so precious in Your sight. Prevent me from developing ostentatious behaviours that are so unseemly, and help me to seek after the imperishable qualities of a gentle and quiet spirit. I pray that Christian women everywhere would recognise the eternal value of growing in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus and pray that in my own marriage and relationships, I would honour You in spirit and in truth. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:5

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lessons that can be learned from holy women and men of God. May I seek to live according to Your perfect plans and purposes with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, to Your eternal praise and everlasting glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wise instructions Peter gives on the role of husbands and wives in his extended passage on godly conduct within Christian marriages. I hold up Christian couples throughout the world and pray that both husbands and wives would seek to honour one another in their complimentary roles. May wives be ready and willing to submit to their husbands, just as Christ submitted his life to His Heavenly Father. May husbands fulfil their God-given order as the head of the family, loving their wives in the wholehearted and sacrificial way that Christ loved the Church and gave His life for her. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:8

Loving Lord, how I desire to apply this gentle spirit of compassion, humility, and love into my life so that I may be an example of a godly believer and give glory to Your holy name. Help me to apply this in my life. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:9

Heavenly Father, thank You for this challenging verse. In my flesh when I am wronged, I want to lash out and return evil for evil. But help me to walk in spirit and truth and, by the power of the Holy Spirit, may I honestly and wholeheartedly return a blessing to the person who dealt evil to me. Thank You for the promise that by doing this, I will inherit a blessing. And thank You that Your grace is sufficient for all eventualities of life. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:10

Heavenly Father, it is sometimes so hard to refrain my tongue from speaking evil things. Thank You that doing these hard things is rewarded by You with blessings that may not be immediate, but which are so sweet and good when I receive them. I pray that all my words and my actions would be a real encouragement to others, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:11

Heavenly Father, I pray that in thought, word, and deed, I may strive to live godly in Christ Jesus to Your praise and glory. I pray that in Your grace and power, I may make every effort to finish the race that is set before me. I pray that, I would turn from evil, do good, and seek peace, all the days of my life. Praying through 1 Peter 3:12

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your eyes are over those that are cleansed by the blood of the Lamb and that Your ears are ever open to our prayers. Have mercy on those who have not accepted Your gracious offer of salvation, and use me as a witness to Your goodness and grace. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:13

Heavenly Father, thank You that there is nothing in earth or heaven, visible or invisible, that can separate us from Your love - for those that are in Christ Jesus. I pray that I may be zealous to live as You have instructed and to earnestly seek after that which is good, to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:14

Heavenly Father, I know that in this world I will have tribulation and troubles as a child of God. I pray that I would not be fearful but trust in You. I pray that these words of Jesus would sink deep into my heart in whatever situation I find myself in: "In the world you will have tribulation but take courage; I have overcome the world." In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:15

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been redeemed by the blood of Christ. My desire is to be fully sanctified unto Him and to offer my body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. Guard my heart and guide my speech, I pray. Give me wisdom to be able to give a defence for my trust in Christ and to give an answer for the blessed hope that I have in Him. And Lord, I pray that by the power of Your Holy Spirit, I would be able to answer everyone who asks me about my faith in Christ, in gentleness and reverence and always to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:18

Heavenly Father, thank You that Christ was willing to suffer in my place for my sins. Thank You that He was willing to lay down His life for me so that by His death He could bring me to God. Thank You that His work on the Cross is finished and that there is nothing that I need to do to be saved, but to believe on His name. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:”

Praying through 1 Peter 3:21

Heavenly Father, thank You for this truth that being baptised does not save us, but it is a wonderful outward expression of faith in Jesus and the answer of a good conscience toward God. Thank You that I have been identified with Christ’s death, burial, and Resurrection. Thank You that His death became my death, His burial became my burial, and that through Christ's Resurrection, I have a received a good conscience before God. May I walk daily in newness of life for Your honour and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:”
