Prayer for 1 Peter 4

Heavenly Father, that You for the wonderful example of Christ Jesus my Lord, Who came to earth to identify with my sin and suffering in the flesh.. on my account, so that I might be saved by faith in His sacrificial work on the cross. I pray that I may develop the same resolve to live holy unto the Lord, knowing that He has... not only paid for my sin - but has also broken the power of sin in my life. Praise His holy name. Thank You in Jesus name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the wonderful truth.. and wise instruction it contains. Thank You that I am a new creation in Christ and am an alien and stranger in a lost and dying world. I pray that I may live my life in a way that is honouring to You and that I may resist the devil and abstain from all forms of worldly pursuits, evil desires, sensual passions and carnal cravings.. May my life be a living sacrifice that is holy and honouring unto the Lord and a witness of Your goodness and grace to others - to Your greater praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been saved by grace through faith and recognise that too much time has already been spent in doing activities that are not edifying or honouring to You. Help me to set aside all the things that hinder my spiritual growth and keep me from being enticed back into any ungodly activities. This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, it is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of an angry God. It is terrible to realise that those who have not accepted Your offer of salvation and trusted Christ, for the forgiveness of sins, will one day stand before You, to give a full account of themselves. Give me a heart for the lost I pray, and fill me with compassion for those that malign and abuse me. Help me to show the love of Jesus to those who persecute me, and enable me to share the gospel of grace, in word and in deed.. knowing that Your blood was spilt for everyone - for the remission of sins and life everlasting. This I ask in Jesus precious name, AMEN.

Father I thank You for giving me the understanding that only as I remain in Christ can I practice self-controlled godly conduct, and maintain fellowship with You, for it is only through His righteousness that I can approach Your throne of grace and pray effectively. May Your will be done in my life and reflected in my prayers, in Jesus name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, there is a part of me that wants to have a nice easy, trouble-free existence and yet I know that this life is a training ground to draw me closer to You and to conform me day by day into the likeness of Christ. May I not be surprised at the fiery ordeals that I am called upon to endure, but embrace them as Your gracious child-training programme to make me more like Christ - so that I may be used in this sin-sick world to comfort others with the same comfort that I receive from You - this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

Thank You Father that I am part of the mystical Body which is the Church and that I am in union with the Lord Jesus. Thank You that He understands all that I am facing in my life today and that I am a partaker in His sufferings. Help me to keep the eternal perspective ever in my sights, and I praise Your name for the blessed hope and glorious future that You have purposed for me, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Loving Father, thank You that Christ identified with me, so that I can be identified with Him. I want to know Him more – to know the power of His resurrection and yes – to participate in His sufferings, so that I may become more like Him in His death, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the important perspective Peter gives about suffering for righteousness’ sake. As I face the inevitable problems and persecution that are the 'birth-right' of all Christians, in this fallen world, help me to recognise that I am having a share in the sufferings of Christ, Who continues to be despised and rejected by this world - a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. Thank You that He died to pay the price for my sin and broke the power of sin and death in my life. I pray that I may eschew all evil works of darkness and honour His name in ALL I say and do, from this day forward and for evermore - in Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Lord Jesus Christ and all that He has done for me. Thank You that in Him I have eternal life and am secure in Your hands – no matter what I may have to suffer in this life. Thank You that by His blood I have been fully and finally redeemed and forgiven of my sin. I pray that those who have abused me and cause me to suffer, may be convicted of their sin and come to a saving faith in Christ. Thank You that Your grace is sufficient for everything I may have to face and I pray that my life may bring honour to You, not only in this life but in the eternal ages to come, this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.”

Heavenly Father, it is a terrible thing to end this life without having trusted Christ as Redeemer and Lord. Thank You that He underwent Your fierce judgement of my sin - in my place, so that I might be conformed into His image and likeness through the trials and tribulations of this present age. We pray for the multitudes that still have not trusted Christ for their salvation and pray that even today, many would put their faith in Christ and escape eternal separation from You - this we ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”

Heavenly Father, Thank You that by faith, I have been identified with the Lord Jesus Christ, and have become one of Your children. Father I entrust my life into Your hands, knowing that for Christ's sake, I will be hated of all men. Thank You that You sent Christ to go to the cross, and to suffer on my account. Give me the grace to endure suffering for His sake, and may my life be a witness to Your goodness and grace, in a world that is lying in the evil one. Into Your hands I commit my soul, and thank You Lord, that my citizenship is in heaven. But while I am on earth, may I walk in spirit and truth, and live a life that is pleasing to You in Jesus name I pray, AMEN

“Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”
