Loving Heavenly Father, You put us into families and set a father as the leader and role model for each family, but Lord, there are many families that are being torn apart by a husband and father that has become addicted to alcohol.
Knowing the devastating nature of this disease, I pray that You would prompt each one to turn away from this evil habit to become the responsible husband and father that You desire each one to be.
Lord, we know that there are many alcoholic husbands that abuse their wives both physically and emotionally and that many children are also placed in danger due to abuse from an alcoholic father. And also Lord, we know that such drinking habits can often leave families with insufficient money to live on.
Protect all those that are vulnerable from all forms of abuse, and convict such men of the responsibilities of being loving husbands and dependable fathers. Lord, we pray that they turn from their evil ways to turn to the Lord Jesus, knowing that only in You is true freedom found.
Thank You Father. I commit all families that are in this position into Your safe-keeping. In Jesus' name,
Amen.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your goodness to us and for instructing us on how to live godly lives to Your praise and glory. May I stand firm in the faith and act in a way that does not dishonour Your name. May I be alert to the evils that surround me and my brothers and sisters in Christ and may I never compromise the truth of the glorious gospel of grace but be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.. Help me to withstand the wiles of the devil and be alert to his evil ways. And may all I say and do be done in love - to Your honour and glory in Jesus name I pray, AMEN
Loving Father, I confess that in my own strength, it is impossible for me to carry out all that I say and do in love, but I know that it is possible in the strength and power of the Spirit of love. You have promised to pour Your love through me to others, so that I may love others as Christ loved me. Use me to be a vessel of love in the lives of all I meet today, knowing that it is Christ that loves through me and not me myself. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and this instructive letter to the Corinthian church. I pray that I may know You more each day and grow in grace and in a knowledge of Jesus Christ my Lord. Give me discernment I pray, so that I may not be tossed about by false teachings and I pray that the love of Christ may fill my heart and become a conduit, through which Christ's love spills out to those I meet. This I pray in Jesus' name, AMEN.
