Praying through 1 Corinthians 10:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful picture of Israel being under the cloud of Your supernatural protection, and thank You that like them, all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ have "passed through the sea of death" through faith in Him. Thank You that by faith in Christ, I have been baptised into His Body and passed from death to life. Help me to learn all the lessons You would have me to learn, and may I be a worthy witness to a lost world of Your goodness and grace. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 10:2

Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been born from above, and am identified with Christ Jesus, my Lord, by faith. Thank You that I have been baptised into His Body and am one with Him. Thank You for the lessons I can learn from the Children of Israel who were all baptised into Moses, in the cloud, and in the sea. I pray that I would live a victorious life in Christ and not fall into unbelief, like Israel in the wilderness. Keep me low at the Cross and looking to Jesus - the Author and Finisher of my faith, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 10:3

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is the Living Bread and the Water of Life, Who renews my spirit, refreshes my soul, and restores to me the joy of my salvation. Help me to learn the lessons of life and living, that You would teach me through Israel's lack, and I pray that I would grow in grace and mature in the faith for Your greater praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And did all eat the same spiritual meat;”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 10:11

Heavenly Father, it is easy to criticise the nation of Israel for their ungodly behaviour, wrong attitudes, rebellious ways, spiritual apostasy, and national failure, and yet I see that I could easily make the same mistakes, live a defeated life and fail You in word and deed. I pray that the indwelling Spirit of Christ would direct my behaviour and my attitudes. Keep me low at the cross, broken before you, trusting Your Word and looking to Jesus. I pray that I may grow in grace day by day and I ask that You change me into the person You want me to be, for without You I can do nothing right. Thank You in Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 10:12

Heavenly Father, thank You for the glorious promises in Your Word that we are eternally secure in Christ. But Father, I pray that I would never abuse the freedom I have in Christ. I pray that I may become increasingly conscious to take heed of my spiritual walk in Christ - lest I also fall into sin and discredit Your holy name. This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 10:13

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus Who understands what it is like to be tempted in life. Thank You that He is able to sympathise with all our weaknesses. Thank You that there is no temptation that I have to face that is not common to the human race, and thank You that You have promised to provide a way of escape, by grace through faith in Christ, when trial come my way. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

Praying through 1 Corinthians 10:17

Heavenly Father, thank You that I am in union with Christ and a member of His mystical Body, which is the Church. I pray that we may be united together in love and truth, knowing that we have all partaken of the one Bread, which is Christ. Praying through 1 Corinthians 10:31

Oh Lord my God, how I long to be one whose life is a living testimony to Your goodness and grace and whose only desire is to live my life to glorify You. Take my life, Lord, and may Your will be done in all I say and do today. Use me as a vessel to Your praise and glory in such a way that You increase, and I decrease, until it is Christ living in and through me, to His praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
