Prayer for Titus 2

Heavenly Father, we praise and thank You that You have given us Your Word and that in it we have all we need for life and godliness. Give us discernment to recognise and renounce false teachers and unbiblical doctrine - and help us to hold fast to that which is good and wholesome and which is consistent with sound teaching. This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the instructions that are found within Your Word. Thank You for those older people that You placed in my life.. to give me wise advice and sound teachings and I pray that as I too get older.. You will use me to be a source of help and encouragement to those that are younger in years. Give me sound wisdom and understanding of Your word.. and the ability to be used by You to admonish and instruct others as You see fit, in humility and grace. This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;”

Heavenly Father, thank You for our mothers and the women that have influenced us in godly living and virtuous behaviour. We pray, that in the increasingly difficult days in which we live, both women and men would seek to live godly in Christ Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit - so that Your word would not be dishonoured in our lives, and others would be attracted to the beauty of Christ, through our living testimony. This we ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,”

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have clearly laid out Your divinely instituted roles and responsibilities in our homes; marriages; churches and the wider community. Help me to develop a godly attitude in my own home and marriage... my church fellowship and neighbourhood, and help me to apply the godly principles and biblical teachings You have given us on life and godliness, for Your praise and glory. May my life be a living testimony, both at home and abroad, to Your wisdom and grace ..this I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the life testimony of people like Paul and Titus, whose faith in the Lord Jesus became so much a part of the fabric of their lives, that they became a living testimony to the gospel of grace. May my life also be a true testimony of good deeds, pure doctrine, sound speech and a worthy pattern of godly behaviour, for Your eternal praise – and may others see the love and grace of Jesus in me, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the important instructions we receive from Your holy word, as we progress through the college of Christian living. I pray that I may deny ungodliness and disengage myself from any worldly pursuits or fleshly attitudes, and pray that I may diligently seek to live sensibly, righteously and godly in this present age - this I ask Jesus name, and for His greater praise and glory, AMEN.

“Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;”

Prayer and Praise During Advent

Dear heavenly Father, at this time of the year when the Church remembers the first coming of our Lord and Saviour into the world, we want to lift up our hearts and voices in prayer and praise to You, for sending the Lord Jesus Christ into the world to be our Saviour– so that through his blood we may be brought back into a right relationship with Yourself and receive the gift of eternal life – by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

At this time our thoughts are specially drawn in remembrance to the wonderful time, so long ago, when God in His grace sent the eternal Son of His love into the world to become the propitiation for our sins. How we rejoice when we recall that He set aside His glory and great majesty to take on the form of a man and be born into this world as a tiny baby, in such humble circumstances.

Lord in a world that is become more secular, I pray that the people of God who are called by Your name would take time to reflect with awe and wonder on this amazing truth and to prepare our hearts for the time when Jesus Christ will return again in power and great glory at His second Advent..

Purify our hearts we pray and sanctify our lives so they we may serve you in newness of life not only in this special season of Advent but every day of our lives – until You come to take us to be with You forever, in Jesus name we pray,

“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”
(Titus 2:13)

Heavenly Father, what glorious grace You have poured out on me and all who believe in Jesus Christ's finished word at Calvary. Thank You for my salvation. Thank You that I have been redeemed with the precious blood of Christ. Thank You that I have been imputed with His prefect righteousness and His abundant life. Thank You that I have been redeemed from sin and lawlessness and been baptised into the body of Christ, so that together we may become a people for His own possession - eager to be used by You ...until it is not I that live in this body but Christ Who lives in me, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

“Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”
