Praise for the First and Second Advents of the Lord

Dear Father God, how we rejoice when we call to our minds the glorious truth that the eternal Light of the world came to earth as a baby to become the Redeemer of mankind – to give His life for a lost world and to pour peace and hope into the hearts of a people who were estranged from their Creator God.

Father may our lives reflect His love as we look back in time to the first Advent of our Lord and Saviour – but let us never forget that there is a future Advent – a second coming when the earth will be filled with the glory of God once again – as the waters cover the sea.

Lord we know that You are returning and not as a tiny baby lying in a humble manger and wrapped in swaddling clothes but as a conquering King Who is to come to rescue His people Israel.

But Lord we know that first You are to come in the clouds to take Your church back to Your heavenly home – when the dead in Christ will rise first and we will all be changed in a moment - to become like unto You Lord Jesus.

Lord I pray that Your Church will prepare herself for Your soon return. Lord I pray that Your Body will be ready for that glorious day when You come to take us home to be with Yourself. Lord I beseech You that Your bride – who is the Church will be pure and holy, without spot and wrinkle or any such thing.. and Lord.. start that work in ME I pray, in Jesus name

Amen
“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”
(Revelation 1:7)

“And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;”
(Revelation 1:12)

It was John, the beloved disciple, who loved his Lord with a deep passion and who had walked with Jesus from the start of His three year ministry that was given this unique glimpse of the risen, ascended and glorified Son of Man. John had been one who had walked with Him by the way, listened to His teachings, seen the signs and miracles Jesus had performed; witnessed His tender-mercy and loving compassion; been empowered to carry out mighty signs and great wonders in His holy name.

John had even glimpsed the magnificent vision of the glorious transfiguration of God's dearly beloved Son - and it was John who turned, and saw ONE, like unto the Son of Man, standing in the middle of seven candlesticks, clothed with a garment down to His feet and girt about the breasts with a golden girdle.

No wonder the appearance of his risen, ascended, glorified Lord caused John to fall at His feet as if dead. This was a vision of the eternal, transcendent, almighty God, Who stood before him surrounded by seven candlesticks, which represented the Christian Church. And before this elderly apostle of love stood the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last - the Beginning and the End - the King of kings and Lord of lords. And yet this was none other than Jesus of Nazareth Who in His earthly walk was despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.

This was the incarnate Son of God Who had laid aside His heavenly glory so that He could be born into the race that He Himself had created, in order that you and I could become a chosen people; a royal priesthood; a holy nation and children of God - accepted in the Beloved.

The unknowable God made Himself known to us through the Lord Jesus Christ: the eternal Son of God and perfect Son of Man. Though he is now seated at the right hand of the Father, His appearance to John reminds us that He is ever present with His children - standing in the midst of His people, holding each of us in the palm of His hand, our shield and defender, the ancient of days, pavilioned in splendour and girded with praise.

Jesus came to earth as the suffering Servant of God so that He could save His people from their sins by means of His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection and Jesus is returning to set up His kingdom as King of kings and Lord of lords. But the most precious name for our Saviour is JESUS - SON of MAN.

And Jesus is soon returning to earth as the Son of Man, to take us to be with Himself. Let us worship Him in the beauty of holiness and sing forth His praises in time and through eternity.

Loving Father, thank You for sending the Lord Jesus to be Son of Man so that I can become a child of God. Thank You Father that He became flesh and took the punishment that I deserve upon Himself for which I praise Your glorious name. Thank You that He is returning soon to take me to be with Himself – glory be to the Father and the Son and to the Holy Spirit, in His name I pray, AMEN.

“And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for this amazing revelation of Jesus Christ and for opening our understanding that the Suffering Servant Who died for our sin and rose again on the third day is the incarnate God - in Whom are the words of eternal life. Thank You that He took the punishment for my sin and that the same, mighty, resurrected God and Saviour, is coming again to judge of the word in righteousness. Thank You that those who are in Christ have nothing to fear - for perfect love casts out fear. Thank You that You loved us so much that You sent Jesus to be the sacrifice for our sin and that He is coming again to right every wrong, to judge the world in righteousness and wipe away every tear from our eyes. Help me to live my live in a manner that is worthy of You - to Whom be all honour and glory, world without end - AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the revelation of Jesus Christ, which You gave to your servant John to show us all that must come to pass in the not too distant future. Thank You that Christ took the terrible punishment for my sin and that I have been clothed in His righteousness robes... by faith in His death and resurrection. I pray that my life would be a faithful and true witness of Your goodness and grace to me and that I will hear Him say well done, good and faithful servant. May I eschew every kind of evil; hold fast to His Word of truth and listen carefully to all that the Holy Spirit says to the churches - for Your greater honour and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Thank You Lord for the wonderful revelation of Jesus and the glorious hope that I have in You. I pray that Jesus may be first and last in every area of my life, as I wait in glorious anticipation of His return, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, what a glorious truth.. that Jesus is the living One - the first to rise from the dead and that because He lives, I too will live. Thank You that while I was still a sinner You loved me and sent Your only begotten Son to be the propitiation for my sin, so that by faith in Him might be made spiritually alive. Thank You that You sent Your beloved Son to be born in human flesh and to die on the cross to pay the price for my sin, so that I may be forgiven of my sin. We praise You that He rose again from the dead and is the living One, Who is alive forevermore and has the keys of death and hell. I praise and thank You that He is alive, and that I too will rise from the grave imperishable, and live with You through all eternity. Praise Your holy name. Praise the name of Jesus. Hallelujah - AMEN.

I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
