Prayer for Philippians 2

Heavenly Father, thank You for all that I have received in Christ. Thank You for Your love and the consolation that is brings. Thank You for Your grace and Your compassion and the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Thank that that I am accepted in Christ and part of that heavenly company that has received life eternal by faith in Christ. I pray that together with my brothers and sisters in Christ we may live in spiritual unity and godly harmony - being of one mind; maintaining the same love; united in spirit and intent on one purpose - which is to be increasingly transformed into the image and likeness of Christ - to His praise and glory AMEN.

“If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,”

Refreshment for Body, Soul and Spirit

Dear Lord Jesus, You were the One who healed all manner of sickness and diseases when You walked on the shores of Galilee.

I come to You today to ask for Your healing touch in every area of my life, for I am weary in body, mind and spirit. My health is failing and I am not even sure what is wrong with me – except that I need Your touch on my life more that I have ever needed before. Strengthen me in spirit,

I pray that You renew my heart with Your healing touch and refresh me in body, soul and spirit - Thanks You Jesus
“Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.”

Father, it is my desire to do nothing out of selfish motives or ungodly incentives, but rather I pray that I may in humility of heart, value others above myself, to Your praise and glory. Help me to value the needs and concerns of another more than my own and keep me humble in heart and low at the cross - in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”

Heavenly Father, how wonderful it is to know that I am Your child and part of the body of Christ. What a glorious truth to realise that I am a new creation in Christ and have the Holy Spirit of God living in my heart. Help me to live in complete dependence on You and in godly unity with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Keep me from contentions and strife and help me to consider the needs of others before my own. And Lord I pray that the mind that was in Christ Jesus may dwell in me richly so that I may act justly; love mercy and to walk humbly before You all the days of my life - this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”

Heavenly Father, the truth of Christ's incarnation is wonderful and full of glory.. that Christ should set aside His glory and leave His position in heaven to come to earth as a bondservant, and to die on the cross for the sin of fallen humanity. Thank You for opening up my understanding to His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection and that in HIM I have life - to Whom be all praise and glory, AMEN.

Prayer For Life Of Purpose

Heavenly Father I thank You that Your perfect plans and purposes can never be frustrated and that You are working quietly in the background in order that Your divine will continues to progress towards its ultimate goal, as year succeeds to year.

I praise You that You have given me life and made me a new creation in Christ and thank You Father, that You have a special purpose for my life too. Thank You that by Your grace You are carrying out Your purposes in the lives of all Your children - that Christ is all and in all and I pray that this may be realized in my life too.

Enable and equip me I pray, to fulfill the plan and purpose that you have for me to do and I ask that You would use each gift and every talent that You have graciously given to me, to Your praise and glory.

Help me to fulfill all that You would have me do in my life and may I be obedient to Your voice as I seek to carry out Your purpose for my life. May I rejoice evermore and pray without ceasing.

May I give thanks in all things and hearken to the voice of Your Holy Spirit and may I hold fast to that which is good and abstain from all forms of evil – knowing that this is Your will for my life.. in Jesus name I pray,

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

Loving Father, I confess that my sin nature is prone to murmurings and disputing, which I recognise displays unbelief in You, and pride in myself. Help me to take every thought captive as I live in this world and enable me to cast ALL my cares upon You, knowing that You care for me, this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father thank You for the example of Paul, who poured his life out as a drink offering over the faith of these self-sacrificing saints in Philippi. May we live our lives as a living sacrifice and be prepared to suffer for the sake of Christ, no matter what the cost - for the joy of knowing that we do Your will - to Your praise and glory, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing insights that we can glean from the epistles of Paul, and those that accompanied him, on his various missionary journeys. Thank You for dedicated ministers like Timothy, who faithfully taught the Scriptures, and whose lives have become an example of godly living to us all. Help me to live my life in a way that honours Your name, and use me, I pray, to be an instrument of encouragement and joy to others - looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith - in Whose name we pray, AMEN.

Prayer Of Gratitude For Volunteers

Father we offer our grateful thanks and praise for the army of volunteers that quietly yet faithfully offer their services for the wellbeing and support of others.
We ask Your special blessing on each one, knowing that they are the unsung heroes that receive little thanks for their valuable contribution and who are so often taken for granted by those that they freely serve.
Provide for the needs of each one and protect them from those that might intentionally or unwittingly exploit their generous nature - this we ask in Jesus name,

“Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.”

Prayer For The Recovery Of A Friend

Dear God, You are the giver of life and health and You are the healer of the sick and the suffering – we pray for a dear friend who is in distress with ill-health today and pray that You would help them to come to a full recovery and restore them to wholeness, health and strength.

Lord I do ask that You would meet my friend at their point of need – not only in their physical suffering but also in their spiritual sickness. Lord my dear friend not only needs recovery of their physical health but recovery of their spiritual lack and the emotional pain - that seems to be making their physical problem so much worse.

Administer all Your gifts of health and healing for body and mind I pray and multiply Your blessings and grace towards them so that they may be fully restored and come to a deeper knowledge and understanding of You, in Jesus name,

“For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.”
(Philippians 2:27)
