Prayer for Philippians 2

Praying through Philippians 2:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for all that I have received in Christ, for Your love and the consolation that it brings, for Your grace, compassion, and the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Thank You that I am accepted in Christ and part of that heavenly company that has received life eternal by faith in Him. I pray that, together with my brothers and sisters in Christ, we may live in spiritual unity and godly harmony. May we be of one mind, maintain the same love, be united in spirit, and intent on one purpose which is to be increasingly transformed into the image and likeness of Christ. To His praise and glory, AMEN.

“If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,”
(Philippians 2:1)

Praying through Philippians 2:2

Loving Father, help me be united together to my brothers and sisters in Christ in love. Give me a humility of heart, and transform my mind into the mind of Christ so that I may think the thoughts that You would have me think so that I may be a channel of Your love to others. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.”

Praying through Philippians 2:3

Heavenly Father, it is my desire to do nothing out of selfish motives or ungodly incentives. Instead, with a humble heart, I pray I would truly value others above myself. May all I do in my life be always to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”

Praying through Philippians 2:4

Heavenly Father, help me to recognise and respond to the needs or others, willingly, cheerfully, with humility of heart, and gentleness of spirit. May I not be so concerned with my needs that I miss the aching need of another. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.”

Praying through Philippians 2:5

Heavenly Father, what a glorious truth to realise that I am a new creation in Christ and have the Holy Spirit of God living in me. Help me to live in complete dependence on You and in godly unity with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Keep me from contentions and strife, and help me to consider the needs of others before my own. And Lord, I pray that the mind that was in Christ Jesus may dwell in me richly so that I may act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly before You, all the days of my life. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”

Praying through Philippians 2:6

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus was prepared to set aside His eternal position in heavenly glory to come to earth to die on the Cross so that by faith in Him I might be redeemed, forgiven, and restored into eternal fellowship with You. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Praying through Philippians 2:7

Heavenly Father, the truth of Christ’s incarnation is so wonderful, that He should set aside His glory and leave His position in heaven to come to earth as a bondservant and to die on the Cross for the sin of fallen humanity. Thank You for opening up my understanding to Jesus' sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection and that in Him I have life. To Him be all praise and glory, AMEN.

“But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:”

Praying through Philippians 2:8

Heavenly Father, the reality of Who the Lord Jesus Christ truly is and the realisation of what He gave up to become a Man Who humbled Himself to the point of death, even death on a Cross, for my sake, is staggering. Thank You for Your amazing grace and for Your amazing love. I pray that I may humble myself under Your mighty hand and learn to say in whatever situation I find myself, 'Thy will not mine be done,' to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

Praying through Philippians 2:9

Thank You, Father, that all I need can be found in Jesus. I pray that I may decrease, and He may increase, in all I think and say and do, until Christ is formed in me, to Your praise and glory. Thank You that Christ is highly exalted and has been given the Name that is above every name. This I pray in the lovely name of JESUS - Son of God and Son of Man - AMEN.

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:”

Praying through Philippians 2:10

Loving Father, thank You for Jesus, my Saviour and King, my Lord and my God Who alone is worthy to receive all honour and praise. I pray that I draw ever closer to Him and that I may decrease and He may increase, until Christ is seen in me. In His name I pray, AMEN.

Praying through Philippians 2:11

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have made Yourself known to mankind through Your creation, through our God given consciences and through the inspired Scriptures. Please use me, in these end times, to share the good news of Christ so that many may hear and believe that Jesus Christ is both Lord and Saviour, to the glory of God the Father. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.

“And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Praying through Philippians 2:12

Heavenly Father, thank You for all that Christ has done for me. Thank You that I am eternally secure, having trusted in His finished work on the Cross to pay for my sins and give me eternal life with Him. I pray that I would work out my sanctification in the power of the Holy Spirit, in reverential fear. Help me do this by living my life to Your praise and glory, by trusting You in all the difficulties and dangers of life and by relying on You in all circumstances of life. And I pray that by abiding in Christ, and He in me, I may produce much fruit in the power of the Holy Spirit, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”

Praying through Philippians 2:13

Help me Lord to submit to Your Spirit so that I may carry out the good works that You have prepared for me to do in the only way that pleases You, which is Christ in me, the hope of glory, AMEN.

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

Praying through Philippians 2:14

Loving Father, I confess that my sin nature is prone to murmurings and disputings which I recognise displays unbelief in You and pride in myself. Help me to take every thought captive to Christ, moment by moment, and enable me to cast all my cares upon You, knowing that You care for me. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Do all things without murmurings and disputings:”

Praying through Philippians 2:15

Heavenly Father, how I love and praise You for Your goodness and faithfulness to me. I thank You that in Your grace, You use everything in life for my good and to bless others. Lord, as I stand in this crooked and perverse generation, help me to rely solely on You. In Your grace and power, may I shine forth as a light in the world, pouring out Your light of love, truth, holiness, and goodness. May You be lifted up in everything I say and do, and help me to live a blameless and harmless life, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;”

Praying through Philippians 2:16

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of God and the truth that it contains. I pray that I may hold fast to the Word of life so that my life may give honour to the Lord Who died for me and rose again to give me His eternal life. Bless all my brothers and sisters in Christ, and I pray that we may all grow in grace together as we press on toward the goal for the upward call in Jesus Christ our Lord. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

Praying through Philippians 2:17

Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Paul who poured his life out, as a drink offering, over the faith of these self-sacrificing saints in Philippi. May I live my life as a living sacrifice and be prepared to suffer for the sake of Christ, no matter what the cost, for the joy of knowing that I am doing Your will. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.”

Praying through Philippians 2:18

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of truth and the wisdom it contains. Thank You for the examples of godly men and women, in both the Scriptures and in my own life, who have been such good examples of Christian living, in good times and hard times. Help me to rejoice in the things that I am called upon to suffer for Christ and to embrace them as an opportunity to be poured out as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.”

Praying through Philippians 2:21

Heavenly Father, may my life be one that exhibits the qualities, character, and fruit of the Spirit that You desire from all Your children. Give me a Christ-like compassion for others so that my life may be poured out as a drink offering of sacrifice and service to Your praise and glory. Give me quiet disposition and a peaceable spirit whose singular desire is to do Your will. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.”

Praying through Philippians 2:22

Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing insights that we can glean from the epistles of Paul and from those that accompanied him on his various missionary journeys. Thank You for dedicated ministers like Timothy, who faithfully taught the Scriptures and whose lives have become an example of godly living to us all. Help me to live my life in a way that honours Your name, and use me, I pray, to be an instrument of encouragement and joy to others - looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.”

Praying through Philippians 2:29

Heavenly Father, thank You for the examples of Paul, Timothy, and Epaphroditus, whose lives were spent in self-sacrificial service to others, for the glory of God. I pray that all I do, may be done for the benefit of others and to the glory of God. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
