Prayer for Luke 3

Praying through Luke 3:7

Heavenly Father, the message of salvation is truly glorious and yet challenging and very sober. There were many at the end of the dispensation of Israel who turned their heart against the gospel, just as there are many today who similarly refuse to believe the message of salvation, by grace through faith in Christ. I pray that as the time for Christ’s return draws ever closer, that You would draw increasing numbers of men and women to Yourself. Use me, I pray, to be a mouthpiece in my generation, just as John the Baptist proclaimed the truth in his. May Your name be glorified. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?”

Praying through Luke 3:16

Heavenly Father, the message of John the Baptist is a sobering one. Thank You that I have been Baptised by the Holy Spirit, into the body of Christ, and have been saved by grace through faith in Him. I pray for those that remain dead in their sin and are facing the terrible Baptism of Fire, which awaits all those who do not believe on His name, for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Look down in mercy on the fallen race of man, and use me as an instrument to tell out the gospel of grace. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:”

Praying through Luke 3:21

Lord, teach me how to pray as Christ prayed. Teach me to live my life in constant and continuous communion with You, to Your praise and glory, AMEN.

“Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,”

Praying through Luke 3:22

Heavenly Father, what a beautiful moment seeing the three members of the Godhead together, Father, Son, and Spirit in perfect unity at the baptism of Jesus. How I thank You for sending Jesus to be my Saviour. Thank You for Your Word of truth which reminds me of all that Christ has done for me. May I live my life for You, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to Your praise and glory, AMEN.

“And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”

Praying through Luke 3:23

Heavenly Father, what an important lesson to learn that the Lord Jesus Himself was required to wait until He was about 30 years of age before He began the work that You prepared for Him to do. I pray that I may be willing to learn the lessons You would teach me and to wait for Your perfect timing in my life. Give me patience and a heart that is obedient to You. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,”

Praying through Luke 3:38

Father, I kneel in awe and wonder as I contemplate Who You are and what You have done for me. Seeing Your perfect plan travelling through the generations of Jesus' genealogy is just amazing. You are worthy of my eternal love and praise, forever and ever, AMEN.

“Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.”
