Praying through Luke 13:6

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lesson of the fruitless fig tree which illustrates the barrenness that comes from a hardened heart which refuses to acknowledge sin and turn to Christ for forgiveness and life. I pray that I may abide in Him and He in me so I may be a fruitful branch during this Church age, when the gospel of grace is being preached worldwide. I pray that despite Israel’s rejection of their Messiah and the partial blindness that has covered their spiritual eyes, that many will turn to Jesus for salvation today. And I pray for that day when the entire nation of Israel will call on the name of the Lord and be saved. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.”

Praying through Luke 13:7

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me an understanding of Your Word. Help me learn even more from parables like the fruitless fig tree. Thank You that You have postponed Your righteous judgement on Your nation Israel and brought so many men and women into the kingdom of Your dear Son over the past two thousand years. I pray that my ears would be open to Your voice, my eyes open to Your truth, and my heart willing to be led and guided by the indwelling Holy Spirit. Thank You that in Christ, I have all I need for life and godliness. Help me to walk in spirit and truth all the days of my life, for Your greater praise and glory. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?”

Praying through Luke 13:8

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your goodness and grace in sending the Lord Jesus to be the sacrifice for our sin. Thank You that despite their apostate ways, You have remained faithful to the promises You gave to Israel, and I praise and thank You for the assurance that Your faithfulness toward the Church is equally steadfast and sure. By grace, You have extended Your offer of salvation to Jew and Gentile alike for a further 2000 years and that by faith in Him, I too have been forgiven of my sin and received everlasting life. May Your Holy Spirit convict many men and women of their need to turn from their sin and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness. This I ask in His precious name, AMEN.

“And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:”

Praying through Luke 13:19

Heavenly Father, it is quite shocking to realise how far from the truth of the gospel of grace much of Christendom has strayed. We have abandoned Your truth for lies and deception, and we have incorporated false teachings and doctrines of demons into the true articles of our faith. Lord, forgive me for the times when I have not stood firm on the truth of Your Word, but have compromised my faith to fit in with a worldly perspective. I do not deserve Your grace and mercy. Forgive my sins and foolish ways. Please protect those that have been ensnared by deceivers who have twisted truth for a lie. Please open their eyes to the truth. Restore us all as the whole Body of Christ, into a pure virgin Church without spot and wrinkle. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.”

Praying through Luke 13:34

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have proved to be a good and gracious God, Whose promises stand fast for ever and ever. We pray that many in both Israel and the Gentile nations would repent of their sins and turn to Christ for the salvation of their sins.. And thank You that my salvation does not rely on what I have done, but by faith in what Christ accomplished on my behalf upon the cross of Calvary.. in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!”
