Praying through Hebrews 5:5

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus our Saviour as God's annointed High Priest, Who ever lives to make intercession for us. Thank You that He is the Mediator between God and man and that through Him we have access to Your throne of grace.. for mercy to find help in time of need. Thank You that the Lord Jesus finished the good work of redemption by means of His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection.. so that by grace through faith in Him I have been brought into eternal fellowship with You - May I live day by day to Your praise and glory in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

“So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.”

Praying through Hebrews 5:6

Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing book of Hebrews which offers so much insight into the Person, the Work, the Mission, and the Ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ and Your perfect plan of redemption. Thank You for the many 'pictures' You paint through the history and times of Israel which teach us so much about the Lord Jesus Christ; the Prophet who was spoken of by Moses, Your anointed Priest after the order of Melchizedek, and Your appointed King of kings and Lord of lords. Give me a teachable spirit I pray, and open the Scriptures to me day by day so I may grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.”

Praying through Hebrews 5:7

Heavenly Father, there are no words to express my grateful thanks, as with astonished awe and wonder I consider Jesus, my Heavenly High Priest, Who in the days of His flesh offered up prayers and supplication with loud crying and tears, as He faced the Cross and was made sin on my account. Worthy is Jesus, the Lamb that was slain, to receive all honour and glory and worship and praise and majesty, dominion and power for ever and ever, AMEN.

“Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;”

Praying through Hebrews 5:8

Heavenly Father thank You that Jesus came to earth as my kinsman-Redeemer and learnt how it was to live in this sin-sick fallen world.. Thank You that He was prepared to lay aside His heavenly glory and to be born into the race He created.. in order to live a perfect life as an example of how I should live - but also that He died a sacrificial death so that by faith in Him I might be forgiven of my sins and redeemed by His precious blood - To Him be all praise and glory for ever and ever, AMEN.

“Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;”

Praying through Hebrews 5:9

Heavenly Father, thank You that the eternal Son of God set aside His glory to become part of humanity and to live in humble circumstances on my account. Thank You that He was willing to be perfected by the things that He suffered.  May I live in humble obedience to His will so that, day by day, I am conformed into His perfect image. I look forward to that day when, in heaven, I will finally be like Him as I will see Him as He is. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;”

Praying through Hebrews 5:14

Heavenly Father, I pray that I may grow in grace and become spiritually mature. I pray that as I submit to the work of the Holy Spirit in my life I may become increasingly like the Lord Jesus and that as I live and work to Your praise and glory.. I may have my senses trained to discern what is good and what is evil - so that I may discern those teachings and teachers that distort the word of truth and stand fast on the unchanging and unchangable Word of God, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN

“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
