Praying through Hebrews 5:5

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus, my anointed High Priest Who ever lives to make intercession for me. Thank You that He is the Mediator between God and man, and through Him I have access to Your throne of grace. Thank You that the Lord Jesus finished the good work of redemption, by means of His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection so that by grace through faith in Him, I have been brought into eternal fellowship with You. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.”

Praying through Hebrews 5:6

Heavenly Father, thank You for the amazing book of Hebrews which offers so much insight into the Person, the Work, the Mission, and the Ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ and Your perfect plan of redemption. Thank You for the many 'pictures' You paint through the history and times of Israel which teach us so much about the Lord Jesus Christ; the Prophet who was spoken of by Moses, Your anointed Priest after the order of Melchizedek, and Your appointed King of kings and Lord of lords. Give me a teachable spirit I pray, and open the Scriptures to me day by day so I may grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.”

Praying through Hebrews 5:7

Heavenly Father, there are no words to express my grateful thanks, as with astonished awe and wonder I consider Jesus, my Heavenly High Priest, Who in the days of His flesh offered up prayers and supplication with loud crying and tears, as He faced the Cross and was made sin on my account. Worthy is Jesus, the Lamb that was slain, to receive all honour and glory and worship and praise and majesty, dominion and power for ever and ever, AMEN.

“Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;”

Praying through Hebrews 5:8

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus came to earth as my Kinsman-Redeemer and learned how it was to live in this sin-sick fallen world. Thank You that He was prepared to lay aside His heavenly glory and be born into the race He created. How amazing that He should learn obedience by the things that He suffered. May I have a fresh understanding of the suffering that You allow in my life so that like Jesus, I too would learn obedience to You. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;”

Praying through Hebrews 5:9

Heavenly Father, thank You that the eternal Son of God set aside His glory to become part of humanity and to live in humble circumstances on my account. Thank You that He was willing to be perfected by the things that He suffered.  May I live in humble obedience to His will so that, day by day, I am conformed into His perfect image. I look forward to that day when, in heaven, I will finally be like Him as I will see Him as He is. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;”

Praying through Hebrews 5:14

Heavenly Father, I pray that I may grow in grace and become spiritually mature. As I stand fast on the unchanging and unchangeable Word of truth, may I have my senses trained to discern what is good and what is evil and to stay away from those teachings and teachers that distort the Word of truth. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
