Prayer for Hebrews 11

Choose Verse

Loving Father, I am so entrenched in my own thinking that sometimes I doubt Your word and question Your promises, often wishing I had some concrete ‘proof’ of Your love for me – and yet Your Word gives me all the affirmation of this absolute reality I need – for Your Word and Promises are sure and Your faithfulness stretches beyond the limits of time and space. Thank You for the gift of faith and I pray that day by day my loving trust in You and the reality of Your Word will become increasingly established within my heart – for I long to please You in all I say and do and am. In Jesus name I pray. AMEN.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Dear Father, thank You for sending Jesus to be the sacrifice for my sin and thank You that I am saved simply be trusting in Christ's death, burial and resurrection and I pray that I may live my life by faith in a manner that is pleasing to you. Help me to be strong in my weakness, knowing that Your grace is sufficient for every step in this earthly journey through life. Thank You for Your sufficient grace in my life today in Jesus name. AMEN.

“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.”

Father I realise how quickly and easily I can move from trusting You to doubting Your Word, when things do not go the way that I expect. I pray that like Abraham and the men and women of faith in Hebrews, my trust in You will not falter. Help me to earnestly seek You day by day, for I know that only as Christ lives in and through me, by faith, can I be pleasing in Your sight - in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Loving Father, thank You for the example of Abraham who lived his life by faith. I pray that as my faith is tested through the circumstances of life that in the end I will come forth as gold, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the great cloud of worthy men and women who gained Your approval through their faith. It is lovely to realise that they continued to trust in the truth of Your word, when faced with unspeakable difficulties and dangers, and their faith did not waver, even though they died before receiving what was promised. I pray that I may have the sort of faith that does not waver when problems arise and that I will be faithful to the point of death - knowing that Your promises never fail for You cannot deny Your word. I pray that I may be a faithful witness in my life - this I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:”

Heavenly Father, Your plan of salvation for Jewish saints and Gentile believers is most wonderful and we thank You that Christ's sacrifice of Himself on the cross of Calvary, has enabled men and women of faith - both Old and New Testament saints, to be justified by faith and receive the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Thank You that for all who have trusted Your word - both pre and post-cross believers, You have provided something even better... so that apart from one another, neither Jewish or Gentile believers would not be made perfect. Thank You for the great cloud of witnesses, who have run with perseverance the race that was set before them. Help me to pay heed to the warnings in Hebrews, so I may grow in grace and receive the crown of life, which is promised to all Who love YOU - this I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.”
