Prayer for Hebrews 11

Praying through Hebrews 11:1

Loving Father, I can be so entrenched in my own thinking that sometimes I doubt Your Word and question Your promises, often wishing I had some concrete proof of Your love for me. Forgive me, Lord - I know that Your Word gives me all the affirmation of this absolute reality that I need. Your Word and promises are sure, and Your faithfulness stretches beyond the limits of time and space. Thank You for the gift of faith. I pray that, day by day, my loving trust in You will become increasingly established within my heart for I long to please You in all I say and do and am. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Praying through Hebrews 11:5

Dear Father, what a wonderful testimony Enoch had, that he pleased God. Thank You also for the story of how he was raptured away to heaven by God before the Great Flood engulfed the earth. I look forward to the time Jesus comes to rapture His Bride to heaven before the 7 year Tribulation on the earth. Until that time, may I live my life the same way as Enoch by faith that is pleasing to You. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.”

Praying through Hebrews 11:6

Heavenly Father, I realise how quickly and easily I can move from trusting You to doubting Your Word, when things do not go the way that I expect. I pray that like the men and women of faith in Hebrews, my trust in You will not falter. Help me to earnestly seek You day by day, for I know that only as Christ lives in and through me, by faith, can I be pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Praying through Hebrews 11:8

Loving Father, thank You for the example of Abraham who lived his life by faith. I pray that as my faith is tested through the circumstances of life, that in the end I will come forth as gold. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”

Praying through Hebrews 11:10

Heavenly Father, how wonderful to know that Your promises will all be fulfilled and that a day is coming when our faith will be turned into sight as future prophecies and promises will be fulfilled at Your appointed time and in Your specified way. Thank You for the example of men and women of faith like Abraham and Sarah, and for the knowledge that nothing that You have planned and purposed will be left unfinished. Thank You that my sins have been forgiven and will be remembered no more and together with Abraham and all the saints, I look forward to the city to come - whose Builder and Maker is God. AMEN.

“For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.”

Praying through Hebrews 11:19

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many ways You teach us the truth of Your redemptive plan and for the example of Abraham, a man of faith who trusted You when severely tested and who You used as an example of living our life by faith. I pray that my faith in You may grow and mature and that no matter what circumstances happen in this life, I will trust You with all my heart. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”

Praying through Hebrews 11:39

Heavenly Father, thank You for the great cloud of worthy men and women who gained Your approval through their faith. It is lovely to realise that they continued to trust in the truth of Your Word when faced with unspeakable difficulties and dangers. Their faith did not waver, even though they died before receiving what was promised. I pray that I too may have the sort of faith that does not waver when problems arise and that I will be faithful to the point of death. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:”

Praying through Hebrews 11:40

Heavenly Father, Your plan of salvation for Jewish saints and Gentile believers is most wonderful. Thank You that Christ's sacrifice of Himself on the Cross of Calvary has enabled men and women of faith, both Old and New Testament saints, to be justified by faith and receive the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting. Whether trusting in the future Redeemer or looking back and trusting the risen Saviour, the Cross paid it all, past, present, and future. Thank You for all who have trusted Your Word, both pre and post-Cross believers. How wonderful it will be to share eternity with the Old Testament saints, praising and glorifying You together. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.”
