Prayer for 1 Kings 8

Choose Verse

Heavenly Father, what a lesson to learn that nothing should be allowed to compete with Christ's exalted position in my life and no-one should ever be elevated above our loving Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for the many lessons we can learn from the history of Israel - the things to avoid; the way to behave; the need to trust Your word; the importance to hold fast to the truth; and the blessing to be guided by Your Spirit. I pray that, day by day, I may call to remembrance Christ's saving work on the cross and within my heart. I do not deserve Your grace, nor do I deserve to have my sin-debt freely paid for me. Heavenly Father, Your love has no boundaries and I am eternally grateful for Your gracious mercy and loving-kindness, which is new every morning - thank You in Jesus' name, AMEN.

There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of truth and for the many examples of your goodness, grace and faithfulness to Your people - both the nation of Israel and the Body of Christ. Thank You that You are fulfilling the word You spoke to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and David and that Your promises will never fail - for You are the same yesterday, today and forever. We thank You that Jesus is coming back to sit on the throne of David as Scripture reveals. In the meantime, help me to live and work to Your praise and glory - through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

“And the LORD hath performed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.”

Prayer For Israel’s Rain

Heavenly Father, You have promised give Your people their rain in due season so that the land may bring forth its increase. You have promised to send the early and the latter rains and we thank You for Your faithfulness in watering the land of Israel for so many years.

Lord we come again to pray that You would refill us like the Sea of Galilee and pour refreshing rains on the land, so that the rivers will be filled and the land will blossom and bloom and yield its harvest in due season.

Lord as a nation Israel had strayed far from You and has even failed to recognise their Saviour and King - and yet You have not forgotten Your own chosen people and have continued to bless them, despite their unbelief and blindness to the truth of the glorious gospel of Christ. Father we pray for Israel, that You would send an abundance of rain to fill up the depleted reservoirs of water.

Water Your land and bless Your people, Israel we pray and we pray that many may come to recognise the Lord Jesus as their God and Saviour, in Whose name we pray,

“When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them:”
