Praying through Ruth 1:1

Heavenly Father, how blessed we are to have Your Word which reminds us, in so many ways, what a faithful God You are. It is so necessary to trust You in all things. Help me to examine my own life so that I may set my house in order. I want to be in the middle of Your will, moment by moment, and day by day. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.”

Praying through Ruth 1:5

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful reminder in the book of Ruth, that no one is outside Your offer of salvation, no one is beyond redemption, and that no matter how far someone has strayed away from Your loving arms, You are ready and willing to bring them back into fellowship with Yourself. Thank You for Your goodness and grace. I pray that many who have wandered far from You, would come back to You and find their hope in Jesus anew. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.”

Praying through Ruth 1:6

Heavenly Father, what a comfort to know that You are our never-failing help in times of trouble. Thank You for the book of Ruth and the many lessons it teaches us. I pray that I may remain in the centre of Your perfect will for my life, but that when I go astray or in times of trouble, I would quickly call to You. Thank You that nothing in life is so terrible that You do not have an answer. I pray that my faith would continue to grow and mature. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.”

Praying through Ruth 1:16

Heavenly Father, thank You for using Ruth to demonstrate such devotion to You, leaving every trace of this world behind in order to seek after the one true and living God. Keep me low at the Cross so that I may worship You in humble devotion all the days of my life. Thank You that You loved me so much that the Lord Jesus became my Kinsman-Redeemer and bought me back from slavery to sin into the family of God. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:”

Praying through Ruth 1:19

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for all that You have taught me from this simple story in the book of Ruth. Forgive me for the times I have acted like Naomi, stepped outside of Your will for my life, and found myself in deep distress and defeated. You are the Good Shepherd Who searches for Your sheep, whenever we wander far away, and You are our Kinsman-Redeemer. I praise and thank You for the incredible privilege of being Yours and the radiant joy that is mine when I abide in Christ and He in me. Thank You that all Your ways are pleasant, and all Your paths are peace. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.”
