Prayer for Romans 2

Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times when I have passed critical judgement on others and pointed a finger of accusation at the sins of other people, while hiding behind my own smug, self-righteous pride. Thank You that Christ died for me and that I am saved by grace through faith in Him. Thank You that I am clothed in His righteousness. Give me a heart of compassion towards those that are lost and, and use me to touch lives with love and not with criticism - this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.”

Heavenly Father, thank You that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us and gave His life as the ransom price for the sin of the world. Thank You for the truth of the gospel of grace and the structured way that Paul explains that all have sinned and all fall short of God's glory. I recognise that it is not simply those who deny Your existence that will be judged but the self-righteous person who boasts in their own morality, dresses themselves up in their own righteousness and wears a necklace of pride, while condemning others. Thank You that my salvation does not rest on what I have done but on what Christ has done for me. Praise Your holy name that Christ was judged for my sin and that I have been clothed in His own righteousness... through faith in His sacrificial work on the cross. I pray that I may live by faith for Your praise and glory - this I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.”

Heavenly Father, I am not worthy to gather up the crumbs under Your table and yet You died for me so that my sin and guilt might be washed away.. and I might stand perfect in Your sight. Forgive me for the self-righteous attitudes I have shown against sinners who are dead in their trespasses.. and needing Your salvation. Give me a heart to share the truth of salvation by grace through faith in Christ with all.. with whom I come in contact - in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

“And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?”

Father I often take for granted Your loving-kindness and wander far from You. Thank You Father, for Your grace and patient-endurance towards me. I repent; I choose today to turn around; I choose to turn back to You and to turn away from the things that I know have grieved You. Thank You for Your grace, Your love, Your Forbearance and for drawing me back once again into Your arms of comfort. In Jesus name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, we praise and thank You that Your love and justice met at Calvary. It is beyond the realm of our understanding that You should love the world so much that You gave Your only begotten Son to receive the full fury on Your righteous wrath and holy justice against sin - so that by faith we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. AMEN.

Prayer For Accountability in Our Christian Life

Loving Lord, we thank You for Your written Word which contains all that we need as unbelievers to be forgiven of sins as well as all that we need as Your saved children - to live godly lives in Christ Jesus.

Father I realise that in Your grace You have excluded no one from Your gift of Salvation but simply hold us accountable to believe in Your precious Son – but now I understand that You also hold me accountable to grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus – by faith in Christ and not by trusting in my own abilities - if I am to become a mature believer in Christ.

Lord I want to grow in my Christian life and to live my life as unto the Lord. Teach me Your ways and guide me with Your Holy Spirit. Give me a teachable Spirit and a desire to apply all the truths that I am learning – for I desire to do Your will in my life… in Jesus name I pray,

“Who will render to every man according to his deeds:”
(Romans 2:6)

Heavenly Father, thank You for the free gift of salvation that is offered to all men and thank You that in Your mercy and grace Christ died for me and took the punishment that I deserve. Thank You Lord, that it is not Your will that any should perish - I pray that many unbelievers will have their hearts softened and come to know Christ as Saviour, before it is too late - this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the truths that are contained in the book of Romans. I pray that I may never stray from the gospel of Christ - that I am a sinner and that there is nothing that I can do to merit Your forgiveness, except by grace through faith in the atoning blood of the incarnate Word of God. Thank You that I have been saved - simply because I believe that He took the punishment that I deserved.. and thus transferred me from death to life, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your word of truth. Help me to cease from my own strivings by trying to produce works of righteousness, which You have said in Your Word can never justify me in Your sight. Help me to see clearly that the work that You require of me is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and that being a 'doer of the word' is to trust on Him, Who alone can justify the lost sinner and Who alone is the Justifier of all who believe. Help me to see that being a 'doer of the word' is not carrying out works of the flesh or trying to adhere to works of the law, but refers to the one Who believes on Christ for salvation  - knowing that it by faith in Him and not by works of the law that we are justified .. and that it is our faith that is credited to us as righteousness, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the light that I have received from You. When I look at the wonders of creation I am amazed that You are mindful of man.. When I realise the depth of sin to which mankind has fallen and the sin that I personally have committed through the witness of my conscience, I have nothing to commend me and stand guilty before Your holy throne.. BUT thanks be to God through Jesus Christ, Who died to pay the enormous price for MY sin, so that by faith in Him I have been declared righteous and have been forgiven of my sins through time and into eternity -praise Your holy name.. and it is in His name I pray, AMEN

Heavenly Father, I confess that in and of myself there is no good things and that there is nothing that commends me.. but thanks be to God that by faith in Jesus Christ my sins have been forgiven, I have received eternal life and I am accepted as Your child because of His righteousness - praise His holy name, AMEN.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Paul's gospel, which is the power of God unto salvation to all who believe. But Lord we live in a world where the truth of the glorious gospel of grace is being sugar-coated; the consequences of sin ignored and the need for salvation is being twisted, ridiculed, disregarded and diminished. I pray that You would use me to speak honestly to those that are under condemnation so that by Your grace some will be plucked from the fiery brands - in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

For Trust In A Special Relationship

Oh God I come to You saddened in soul and with a heart that is breaking. You brought a special person into my life, for which I thank You Lord, and we were so happy together for a time - but for many reasons, including my jealous nature, things have gone sour between us and we have moved apart.

Lord I confess to You that I acted in a way that was not appropriate and did not permit trust between us to develop and to grow as it should. Look down on us in pity I pray – and ask that You would open up an opportunity for us to be properly reconciled so that we may build up our relationship together.

Lord I know that so often when we make foolish mistakes we have to take the responsibility for the outcome, which is not always the way that we would hope - but I do pray that our relationship is not finished and that in Your grace You would restore again the joy of being together and the special love we had for each other.

Change Me Lord – remove this jealous streak that has caused me so many problems in my life I pray,– for I know that this is not from You Lord - and make me more like the Lord Jesus, not only in my actions but in my attitudes and emotions. May Your will be done in our lives and even if we do not get back together – Lord, I pray that we may be reconciled, so that we may separate graciously and not in the current animosity. I ask this in Jesus name,

“Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,”
(Romans 2:17)

Prayer Of Gratitude For Teachers

Dear Lord, as I look back over the years, I want to thank You for the many teachers that You placed in my path and for the wonderful ways that so many of the, have influenced me for good, down through the pages of my life.
Thank You for the way that some have equipped me to look at life and encouraged me to reach out to fulfil the potential that was within and have enabled my hidden gifts and talents to blossom and flourish for the benefit of others and to Your glory.
Thank You for those that helped me to focus on the task at hand even when it seemed tedious, knowing that I have been enabled to achieve goals that appeared to be beyond my grasp and achieve objectives that seemed out of reach.
Thank You for the teachers that taught me compassion and brought me into a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and thank You for those, that led me deeper into the Christian life and even corrected me when I started to err from the truth.
I pray that You would use me to be a teacher and an encouragement to others whom You  may place in my path and may I faithfully fulfil Your commandment to love as Christ loved us, and to offer my life to You as a sacrifice of thanksgiving and praise – this I ask in Jesus name,

“An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.”
(Romans 2:20)

Heavenly Father, thank You for this thorough examination of my sinfulness and my need of Jesus. Correct in me any unworwthy attitudes and perceptions I may have, and I pray that I may not develop the same self-righteous, unfaithful, hypocritical, religious attitude that Paul described in this passage of Romans, but may I live my life in word and deed to Your honour and glory - this I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

“Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?”

Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times when I have sought to hide my own faults and failings behind a wall of religiosity. Forgive me for the times when I have discredited Your name by my presumptuous words or ungodly deeds. I pray that I may walk in spirit and truth and proclaim the gospel of Christ in truth and in love - not only by what I say and do.. but in the innermost motives of my heart.. so that Christ may be seen in me, to Your honour and glory. This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.
