Prayer for Nehemiah 1

Praying through Nehemiah 1:3

Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Nehemiah who not only grieved at the state of his nation and repented of their sin, but trusted You to fulfil Your promises to Your people Israel by offering himself to be used by You, to fulfil Your plans for His people. May I grieve and repent for the sorry state of the Church today and maintain my faith in You to fulfil all Your promises to the Church. May I be part of a faithful remnant whom You use to forward Your plans and purposes in a world that is spiralling out of control - to Your praise and glory so that the world may KNOW that You are the Lord. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.”

Praying through Nehemiah 1:4

Heavenly Father, too often I have tried to deal with the problems in my own life, instead of flying to Your throne of grace for mercy and help in time of need. I pray that my faith may increase and my prayer life may reflect the continuous communion that the Lord Jesus enjoyed with You, in His earthly life. I pray that I may learn to approach You in confidence and in reverence. Help me to pray into Your will and purpose. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,”

Praying through Nehemiah 1:5

Heavenly Father, thank You for the exemplary life of Nehemiah and for the wonderful way that He immediately turned to You in humble prayer and supplication, when confronted with insurmountable difficulty. May I, in like manner, not sidestep Your sufficient provision nor try to solve the problems of life on my own. When I see the increasingly tense situation on today’s world scene, may I turn to You in loving trust, praying for Your will to be done in all circumstances. In Jesus' name. AMEN.

“And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:”
