Praying through Mark 6:2

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, the truth it contains, and the many lessons that it teaches. Prevent me from allowing my own prejudices, worldly wisdom, limited understanding, or furtive imagination, from blinding me to the truth. Give me a teachable spirit, I pray, and help me to read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest the wonderful truth of salvation. I pray that from this day forward I would walk in spirit and truth all for Your great glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?”

Praying through Mark 6:3

Heavenly Father, thank You that You sent Your only begotten Son to be born into the human race so that by His perfect life, sacrificial death, and glorious Resurrection, I might have life everlasting and the forgiveness of sins, through faith in Him. Keep me, I pray, from developing any biases. Give me a teachable spirit and guide me into all truth. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.”

Praying through Mark 6:4

Heavenly Father, what a lesson I can learn from the people of Nazareth who refused to recognise the Lord Jesus, the King of Glory. He had grown up in their village and now He visited them to give them the words of eternal life, but they refused to listen and allowed doubt to cast the shadow of unbelief in their hearts and a cloud of rejection over their town. Thank You that although He was despised and rejected by His own people, You have graciously brought Gentiles into Your family and equipped us to be used in Your service. Fulfil now, O Lord, Your Word in each member of Christ's Body, and equip each one of us to carry out the work that You have prepared for us to do. Thank You that Jesus did not give up on Israel, despite their rejecting of Him, and that the day is coming when that chosen nation will recognise their Lord and their God, heaven’s greatest Prophet, High Priest, and King. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.”

Praying through Mark 6:5

Heavenly Father, keep me from building up incorrect biases or developing legalistic attitudes. Give me a teachable spirit I pray, and may my faith become firmly established on the truth of the gospel. Help me to stand firm on the promises of God and be ready and willing to hear all that the Spirit has to teach me. Carry out a powerful work in my life I pray, and use me for the furtherance of the Gospel. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.”

Praying through Mark 6:30

Thank You, Father, for the work that You have purposed to do through me. Help me to grow ever closer to Jesus, day by day, and draw on all His abundant supply, moment by moment. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.

“And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.”

Praying through Mark 6:31

Thank You, Father, for Your Word and for helping me to recognise how quickly You can be pushed out of my life. Help me to change my attitude from prioritising the urgent things in life to that which is of eternal value. Help me to recognise that keeping the eyes of my heart on You is the more important thing in life. Refresh my weary soul today I pray, as I abide in You and rest in Your love. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.”
