Praying through Joshua 2:1

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many lessons we can learn from the life of Joshua. I pray that by faith I would carry out Your perfect will for my life, with courage, and in the power of Your Holy Spirit. I pray that as I face the inevitable difficulties and dangers of life, I would look to You for direction and guidance and deliberately take my eyes off the logical and trust in You - in active dependance. This I ask in Jesus, name, AMEN.

“And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there.”

Praying through Joshua 2:6

Heavenly Father, help me to take to heart the important lessons in the story of Rahab, the two spies that came to her home, and their escape from Jericho. Thank You that You are a God Who uses everything to work towards the fulfilment of Your perfect plans and purposes, even when we fail to trust You as we ought. Thank You for Rahab's example of faith in You through her protection of the Israelite spies, and for the reminder that lying and other sins are never condoned by You even when the motive to do so is for the good of others. Help me maintain my faith in You even when my circumstances appear impossible, for Your Word is true and Your promises are 'yes' and 'amen' in Jesus, for which I praise and thank You. In His holy name I pray, AMEN.

“But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.”

Praying through Joshua 2:18

Heavenly Father, thank You for Rahab's example of faith when she chose to trust Your word and place that crimson thread into her window - believing that you would fulfil Your promise to her. Thank You that even when surrounded by bitter enemies, I know that nothing can separate me from the love of Christ Jesus in Whom I trust. Give me the grace to withstand the advances of my enemies who would seek to shipwreck my faith and keep me ever looking to Jesus - the Author and Finisher of my faith, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.

“Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.”
(Joshua 2:18)

Praying through Joshua 2:21

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beautiful truth in the story of Rahab that no sin is too great to receive Your forgiveness, and no sinner is denied the opportunity to be saved by grace through faith in Christ. Thank You that You are no respecter of persons, and no sin is so great that it cannot be forgiven by Your unfathomable forgiveness and amazing grace. Thank You for the wonderful truth that no obstacle is too great for You to topple, and nothing is too difficult for You to do. Increase my faith I pray, so that doubts do not rise in my mind when I have to wait for You to carry out Your perfect plan, at Your perfect time, in Your perfect way. As I face the difficulties in my life, I pray that I would trust You in all things and be filled with the Spirit, day by day, as I persevere in His power and submit to His leading. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.”
