Prayer for Job 2

Praying through Job 2:4

Heavenly Father, thank You for the insight the book of Job gives about the spiritual war that has been raging in heavenly places since the fall of man in the garden of Eden and that You are sovereign over all Your creation, including Satan. Thank You for the many examples of men of faith who resisted the devil, and stood firm in the evil day. I pray that like Job, Paul, Peter, and others, I too would stand firm in the truth of the gospel of God and trust in Your unfailing love. Thank You that I have been equipped with the whole armour of God and that His grace is sufficient to deal with all the fiery darts of the evil one. Thank You for my position in Christ, and I pray that I would live and work to honour Your name. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

“And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.”

Praying through Job 2:10

Heavenly Father, as I consider the story of Job, I begin to see that there are none that are righteous, not even one, and that only by faith in Your dearly beloved Son and His righteousness, can we be declared righteous in Your sight. Thank You that Jesus is our Kinsman-Redeemer, the Days-man for Whom Job longed, and our sacrifice for sin. Thank You for the lessons I can learn from every character in the book of Job. Help me to make the right choices in my life and to trust You, no matter what circumstances may arise. Keep me from speaking foolish words when faced with adversity, and thank You that Your grace is always sufficient. Help me to live by faith in Your Word and not to be swayed by sight or feelings, even when I don’t understand. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

“But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.”
(Job 2:10)

Praying through Job 2:13

Heavenly Father, thank You for friends who will sit with me through times of grief. Help me to realise that sometimes I don't need to offer lots of chatter to help someone, but just being there for a friend in need may be the best for them. Thank You that You work all things together for good for those that love You and that no matter what sufferings I may have to undergo in this fallen world, You will use it to teach me more of Your character and more about myself. Keep me from engaging in human wisdom or allowing worldly philosophies or legalistic tendencies to adversely influence my understanding of Your plans and purposes. And help me to hold fast to my integrity, like Job, when I do not understand why difficulties have arisen in my life. This I ask in Jesus' name. AMEN.

“So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.”
